hi thanks for your good teaching . I know it is better to use public transport but unfortunately our house is far from stations . so I almost should use my own car. although public transportation like subway or BRT are too crowded and people are nervous in so I prefer not to use them .also I might get stuck in rush hours in traffic . so i always try to change my get around time .i bought second hand car but it doesn't work a lot it has broken down just one time since i have got it.in far distance travel i would rather fly not only do i believe that it is fast but also i enjoy flying. one of my childhood dreams was have a personal plane.:-)))))))

I usually get around our city with my husband and child in our car. When I go somewhere alone I use public transport because I don't have a driving licence. However the system of public transport is not very convenient in our city. It is easy to get to the city centre but you have to wait for an hour for a bus which goes to certain districts. In addition, buses run from the city centre to the place where I live until 10 pm. Before we bought a car we used to take a taxi when we were returning from the theatre. Also there are a lot of traffic jams in our city which can be avoided by taking a different road by car. So I'm going ta study at a driving school and pass my driving test.
There are a lot of places where I walk, for example, à supermarket, parks and the seaside. And the school where I work is very close so I can walk in twenty minutes.

Hi, I live in Ho Chi Minh city - the biggest city of Viet Nam. I mostly ride the motorbike. Sometimes I either take a bus or taxi. Riding motorbike has lots of advantages: it's the fastest way to get my destination, and I don't worry too much about parking. But there are also some disadvantages like: there is a lot of noise when I ride and I can get stuck in traffic when having heavy rain.

My house is located in Dong Anh District, which is in the suburbs of Hanoi. If you live in the city centre, you can use buses. There are several choices for you such as bus number 61, 53A or 46. You should take the number 61 or 53A because it's quite near my house. When you come to Tien Duong commune, go through 6 stops and then get off the bus. Finally, after walking about 100 meters, you arrive at my house.

In Vietnam, there are 4 domestic airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways. About 7 years ago, I experienced a flight to Da Nang city on a Vietnam Airlines plane. It was a good flight since my seat had lots of legrooms and an air stewardess gave me a blanket so that I could sleep comfortably. That's why I have a good impression of this airline.

Hi. Im Nghi from Vietnam. I either ride a motorbike or cycle to get around my city. Sometimes i use a taxi to go to the party. Here in my city, there are not much public transport. We only have rails, buses and taxis. Taking a bus is more cheaper than a taxi. Many students often use buses to go to school. The disadvantage of using bus is that it take more time to change buses and you have to walk quite far to the bus stop. In addition, it is crowed during rush hour. There are buses every 30 minutes or so. Normally you have to wait 20 minutes or more. There are always traffic jams in my city , so the fastest way to travel around the city is riding a motorbike.

I live in Binh Chanh District which is quite far away from the city centre, and that's why I have to use public transport most places. There are buses every twenty minutes, and I often leave home very early and take bus number nine to go to school every single day because I want to avoid being stuck in a traffic congestion during peak hours. Compared to other kinds of public transport, buses are very convenient because there are many different routes that passengers can opt for their daily journey. Moreover, using buses is quite safe and economical for people from all different walks of life. However, there are some drawbacks that need to be considered when it comes to buses. The main problem is that these buses are frequently overcrowded, and many people are left behind at bus stops for this reason. Apart from that, there is an increasing number of pickpockets on the bus causing annoyance to some other passengers.

    Hi OOE
I live in HCM city in Viet Nam.
Every day I travel to work by motorbike at 2pm and got home until 9pm. There is little traffic jam at that time, so I really dont feel stressed when I use traffic. I rarely use public transportations 'cos I could not bear the smell inside them. Its really awful and makes me feel sick. Riding motorbikes is freer but tired and the disadvantage is it makes the air and environment more and more polluted.

Thanks Daniel and Lori, for the helpful topic thanks to your topic, I have learned a lot of useful vocabulary, just in context, on traffic and getting around city. To understand the conversation between you two is not easy for me, but step by step, after a few times watching the clip, I managed to grasp its content. Now, I want to answer some questions about how I travel around my home town. I live in Hanoi, where people use motorcycles most often to get around. I used to ride a motorbike, but I don't have it anymore. I enjoy cycling the near places, and when I have to go further, I take the bus with my free bus tickets, a privilege of retired people. You cannot imagine how the construction industry in Hanoi grows. To get somewhere in the city, I have to rely on Google Map. It tells me which bus to use, where to start, where to change the route and how much time and how much it will cost.
Thank you once again for your interesting topics. I look forward to waiting for another of you.

I generally go to work by my motorbike. sometime, I go by car or bus, but motorbike is always my best choice. It’s very convinient. Motorbike is small so you can go anywhere at anytime regardless waiting bus or finding parking lot for your car. It has some disadvantages though, traveling by motorbike often get me wet and damp in rain, so I sometime use my car but it quite goes through fuels. I rarely take a bus since it takes me a lot of time for waiting, that easily turns me mad in hot or wet atmosphere of Vietnam typical weather . I hope the government will launch some better policies to solve these matters and encourage people using public transport more because there are more and more people use private transport as their main means to go around , that partly causes traffic jam and pollution. This problem is serious, people have to take responsibility and must be involved to handle it.

    Transport and driving
I live in a small city. People usually drive their own cars or use public transportation to get around. There aren't so many options to choose from since my city is not big, but we have motorcycles, buses, and shared taxis. Some people even cycle or walk when the places they have to go aren't too far. As for my family, most of them have cars or motorcycles. My father uses his car, which is a secon-hand one. A particular thing about my father's car is that runs on petrol and gas. I don't have a car yet, but if I have one it would be a Volkswagen Beetle Convertible.

But, I don´t drive it regularly, because to my use the bike in the avenues is very dangerous. Regularly, I take the bus, in special Transmilenio. In my way, Normally I take 70 minutes. Usually, I walk for my neighboorhoud. And rarely I take the taxi, for theme of security.

I have a bicycle & I enjoy ridding my bicycle. Sometimes I use to go gym or to college. Where I study is not that far away. My bike helps me keep my body fit. For long distance I use a train or an airplane. I also take the bus to go church but most of the time is the buses came late at the weekend. Therefore, having ur own car is more better inorder to save ur time & reach ur destination on time.
