Csus2 does work - and I think that's because the melody goes from an Eb to a D note at the end of each of the first 2 bars - so that D note definitely harmonises well with the Csus2. However, I would add: - my Mushroom Music Songbook does show a Cm; and - I recall Tim Pierce doing a video on this song, he was actually a session guitarist in the recording of the song, and I just double checked then and he definitely shows a Cm during the verse. One interesting thing, and I should have watched his video before I did mine! Where I'm doing the C5 to end the G chord, he actually is playing a Csus2 right there, and I probably should have done the same. Cheers, Joey
