It’s so painful watching someone start an xr400 who has no idea what they are doing lol. People think these bikes are hard to start when they are not. Kick the bike over slowly until you reach top dead center when the kicker is hard then kick the bike all the way through like a man. He’s kicking it like he’s scared of it. I own a 1999 XR400 and a 2002 XR650r and I can start both of them in 3 kicks with flip flops. It’s all about technique!
I'm 14, and my dad bought one for me. The guy who sold it says that I have to choke it kick it 2 times turn off the choke then kick it until it starts I usually get it 1st or 2nd kick it's an awesome bike that was kept indoors for most it's life. It's a 2003 xr400r

Same I traded an older welding machine this is one Heck of a Beast Machine!!!! Only time I came close to laying it down was where I goosed it around a cedar trying to drift whip and she bout slipped out I hobbled left and right and saved it!, 😂 😂❤love my bike ❤❤it came with FMF POWER CORE4 omg sounds way louder 😂 YOU WILL NOT REGRET THAT EXHAUST! Be safe out there!!!!

I just grabbed a 1 owner CA plated XR400R that had been ridden easy over it’s 21 year life. What a kick ass bike.

don't kick it like first guy... commit fully with body weight moving and a swift curb stomp meant to kill

bro when i got mine it was the same bro i usually do 2 push start to warm up then about 10-20 cranks i
dont take anything apart. learn to adjust and tune the air fuel mixture and learn the starting procedure.
