“Paddington Town Hall“ - Sydney/Australia - April 3, 1977 :) Around one year later I got infected by this Oz Rock virus when I bought my “Radios Appear/Overseas Version“ vinyl plus The Saints “(I'm) Stranded“ album! I can't thank yer enuff - all of yer guys!! Cheers from Hamburg/Germany
These guys are still tearing it up 40 years on - saw them at the Cambridge Hotel Newcastle last night -packed house that just went off. Rob doesn't have the moves that he had back then but he still controls a room with that charisma - living legends. Did a rendition of Kick Out The Jams that was just amazing and finished with New Race - you could almost feel the foundations of the building moving with the tribal response from the crowd - Yeah Hup.
last week Radio Birdman played the Enmore in Sydney......just great (and my wife and I were at this concert at the Paddo Town Hall, somewhere near the back, with Johnny Kannis leading in the white suit)
If Radio Birdman were a British band they would have been bigger, methinks. They are and were highly under-rated. Great rock track alongside others they've done. Superb rock sound. 😎
@@mj.lI agree one of the first 5 records I bought in 77 me 15yrs and ready to ruin my life but it had been the best years of our life's - great memories but sadly not much 🤣 btw. followed by Cosmic Psychos (got a tattoo on my calf) Celibate Rifles the early records top notch 🍺💊🍺
The Birdmen in full flight. Loved the guitar solo ,sounds like Chuck Berry on acid. I read somewhere that Deniz guitar once belonged to Fred Sonic Smith of MC5. Epiphone Crestwood Deluxes are rare now ,saw a beaten up one on Ebay for $7500.
Even stranger, Deniz went back to states became a doctor, joined the Navy became a pilot in Top Gun program his call sign Ice Man ended up being used in the Top Gun movie for Val Kilmer character....what an awesome life
As I am 3000miles away from my collection I think the Original Version was the full 5 minute plus feedback burn out on Trafalger then we had the pathetic 3 minutes or less on Sire Trafalgar is most certainly live but studio not this live gig!
I think this is my favourite song ever.Love the attitude lyrics & riff. Closest I ever get to being able to play the whole song. Stop Start finish Magic to this fool. Deniz was my doppleganger as well. Saw him in Boston 2007 just wsmiled Chris I love to. Calls me REV! which I am. Tax Dodge/ ,
Classic footage, Great Aussie band! For some reason I keep waiting for Chris Bailey & his sister to jump on stage & tear the banner down, the idiots! Anyone @ that gig?
They said these guys sounded a bit like the doors. I've always thought the doors were highly overrated in it Jim Morrison hadn't been such a personality and died early they would not have been such a cult. These guys are 10 times better than the doors
My fav bands are Stooges, Pistols and Hole.....but l don't get this at all and would still prefer to listen to half the stuff that was on Countdown in the time leading up to Pistols....Roxy, Bowie, ...AC/DC and Skyhooks in the studio, ...
This remains the best example of Australian alternative rock music ever.
Jeff in Oz
It's called underground, not 'alternative'. Modern terms are for grunge et al
That’s one of most powerful rock n roll performances you will ever see and hear.

Oh Bugger, didn't know about that. Would have been a great gig to get to. Yeah, hup!
oh yeah, what a night that was, I'm somewhere in that little audience, clothing was saturated in sweat by end of night. What a band!
Where was this gig?

Must have been a great time. Wish I was there.
Me too !! I've just watched another clip and I'm sure I'm 1 of the girls dancing her tits off....lol....needing a couple of days to recover

Oh here we go with the overrated 'underrated' comment. They were bloody big back in the day....NEVER underrated
@@rippi37 great band, but arguably overrated. they were no Saints.
@@mj.l Sure...thats your opinion
The same with The Saints

The Australian parliament should vote for statues of Radio Birdman, The Saints and The Birthday Party being erected in their respective cities...

Punters needed something to get em going? great vid! and a cameo from Mr Kannis cool!
Paddo Town Hall?
Johnny "Zeus" Kannis lead singer of The Hitmen.
I got hip to them from a shout-out on an old skate video (Shackle Me Not).
Excellent.
Skye and I front right in the audience

it wasn't a cult the Doors RULED in their day - more than now. They were among the first to sing psychedelic stuff and they dominated!
