I transitioned to an overlap grip a couple years ago and in my experience while I'm able to generate a little more exit velo and distance I've definitely sacrificed some consistency. Thinking about switching back to a more conventional grip but it's hard to go back, it feels weird now lol
I think the overlap is one of the best bangs for a buck things a slowpitch softball player can do that pays immediate dividends. Your exit speed goes up without having to work out, work on flexibility, or any of things we would normally do to improve. Just a change of grip and bp to create muscle memory and you see improvement right away.
It’s so tough for me to want to loosen my grip. I’m afraid the bat is just going to go flying out of my hands. Do you guys with your bottom hand grip the end of the bat in your fingers more or into the palm?
I hold the bat with 3 fingers. Index and middle finger on bottom around the knob and over lap with one on top. I’m short so I get a good amount of bat speed that way. Lol

I had that same issue. I noticed i hit harder with 2 fingers off but not as consistent. The 1 and 1 finger overlap worked for me
Great video. Swing mechanics on all these gentlemen looks really good. Lota work done there.
We appreciate it
Thanks for the video. Great info. Had no idea there were grip variations.

I agree. Prior to this grip I powered the ball. Once I got used to this I achieved more distance with less effort

Mine is more palm with my pinky hanging off the knob

I tried that. It didn’t work for me on the bat control side.
I learned to control it off the tee. Tell k-dawg I said what up.
