Marriage & Motherhood I agree, that's why we have waited almost 2yrs now. 20 yrs ago when I redid my kitchen, we had a pipe burst, and it ruined the floor, didn't notice right away, but when I did that's when I found damage in the basement where I had my workshop set up and supplies where ruined it was the beginning & end of working for myself, anyway the homeowners Insurance was great, they covered everything, so that's when I redid the kitchen, not as well as Nikki. Daughter thought me crazy, but I told her everything had to come out to redo the floors so might as well do it as much as I could, and I had the money. I did most of the work & that saved on the majority of the work.

I love how you looked for the proper items not from the Home Depot or lowes. You can repurpose so many items. That cabinet once painted was beautiful. Really love it. My grandfather was a professional house painter. He taught me how to do it. We don't normally paint during winter. My grandpa used to do the zip lock bag but he used numbers not letters.

Sandra, my dad was a house painter and handyman he did a lot of very creative projects, tables countertops etc.... All made by hand. He also taught me never paint in the winter, well here in New England anyway, as most times the moisture is in the wood and paint will peel. My advice to anyone reading, listen to what a painter lets you in on. Our 1st house very old had pained doors, one cold winters day I tried to just make them look better, WRONG a yr later peeling worse.

I love the way you show how to break things down and put them together. I'm actually working on a fast tracked kitchen remodeling project. Unfortunately, I have to remove ALL the cabinets, reconfigure, paint and reinstall them. I'm spray painting the hardware.

You would not believe how many people have attempted a huge kitchen renovation such as yours and have made a complete mess of it...LOL! You and your husband make a wonderful team! +duncandy If you hired them it certainly won't be for that price.....they will have to charge you labor for ALL that hard work they put into it. When you choose to do things DIY, you save tremendously on cost.....but you make up for it with sacrificing a TON of your time....which in the end is TRULY worth it. I get that a lot of times when I tell people how much something cost, and they say girrrrrrl for that price I want you to do my party or decorate...etc. To them I say, "No mam, No ham, No macaroni, No cheese"...lol.

Hello Nikki, I must say that seeing this video has just provided me with the most inspiration I ever imagined for remodeling my kitchen! I purchased my home over 10 years ago and I can not began to tell you of all the unsuccessful tasks applied (trips to a design class at Lowe's, watching countless but super expensive DIY renovation video's on TV, and so forth) to achieve stunning results without breaking the bank. I remember a while ago, you told us about a chrome extension called shoptagr. and that would be an amazing source to use when you're doing something like this. All I can say Nikki is that you and your husband did a wonderful and professional looking job on your kitchen. Being an interior designer myself, I am in awe that you guys did a wonderful job without using a kitchen designer. You would not believe how many people have attempted a huge kitchen renovation such as yours and have made a complete mess of it...LOL! You and your husband make a wonderful team! I am doing a complete kitchen and two bath remodel in my home this summer but I am not brave enough to tackle it with my husband...LOL! +duncandy If you hired them it certainly won't be for that price.....they will have to charge you labor for ALL that hard work they put into it. When you choose to do things DIY, you save tremendously on cost.....but you make up for it with sacrificing a TON of your time....which in the end is TRULY worth it. I get that a lot of times when I tell people how much something cost, and they say girrrrrrl for that price I want you to do my party or decorate...etc. To them I say, "No mam, No ham, No macaroni, No cheese"...lol.

Hello Nikki, I must say that seeing this video has just provided me with the most inspiration I ever imagined for remodeling my kitchen! I purchased my home over 10 years ago and I can not began to tell you of all the unsuccessful tasks applied (trips to a design class at Lowe's, watching countless but super expensive DIY renovation video's on TV, and so forth) to achieve stunning results without breaking the bank. Hallelujah, I now have direction! Thank you; I am now a subscriber :).

Great walk through and tips. Especially for the new/young home buyer. Taking time to work towards desired things, in the end, is more rewarding than a pile of debt. It's hard to enjoy what you have if you're too overworked and stressed to enjoy what you have.
