  • If you want to reduce low back pain, increase balance, and improve your balance, you must independently improve the strength, mobility, and motor control of each side of your body.
    The side plank is one of my favorite core / spine / hip strengtheners to just that.
    The KEY to this exercise starts with the Set Up.
    1. Align your hips, trunk, and shoulders.
    2. Bend your knees.
    3. Lock your lat by squeezing your armpit.
    4. Lift your hips.
    5. Squeeze your obliques and HOLD the plank for 5 seconds
    6. Slowly lower your hips back to the ground.
    When performed properly and practiced often, this exercise will produce huge improvements in your core strength, postural control, spinal stability, hip strength, and BALANCE.
