Her taking off the antlers reminds me of the girl in azumanga dio taking her hair off. Anyways I’m gonna add this. 1- It looks like she’s not taking the antlers off but actually popping off the top of her skull. Antlers are still very much attached there. 2- Nearly every other anime I’ve seen with a “deer girl” had given them a tail/ears/nose of a deer. Antlers aren’t the only definitive feature of deer but that could just be artistic choice to not draw attention where it isn’t needed. 3- some female deer do have antlers, but as highlighted at 2:00 it’s typically when their hormones are out of balance unless it’s a caribou. She very well could be trans since when humans transition they actively put their hormones out of balance but I think FtM would be more likely than MtF in this situation unless it’s early stages. Personally I say the antlers are just superficial to accentuate her personality being “deer like” and has nothing to do with the physical gender

@Depressed_Spider no they're not. Gender is the sociological role a person takes within society. It is a social construction. Without humans, or social creatures to a high enough degree, there is no gender, the same applies to other social constructions like languages or money. Sex is biological that refers to biological characteristics. A human born into complete isolation will likely not have even a subconscious understanding of gender, but will always have a sex, male, female, or intersex.
We were always the sane ones. We just went around with no filters while everyone else pretended to be sane. When they took their masks off, you realized they were not sane.
They even make a joke about this in the first few episodes koshi thinks about why she has antlers if she’s a girl. I don’t care what you think about characters being trans or not but don’t force it on others unless it is literally canon

In my long life, I have noticed a trend where people who are part of minority groups who don't have a lot of heroic figures to look up to are so desperate to find some that they delude themselves into believing some historical figure or fictional character is whatever they are just so they can feel some connection with them. Black people do this A LOT as a whole. I've seen people try to say jesus was black, say the Egyptian pharaohs were black, cleopatra was black, the greeks were all black, even Beethoven was black. I guess when Black History month just revolves around literally just MLK, with minor mentions for malcolm x and people like Rosa parks, that doesn't give them much to work with, and they so desperately want some kind of major, powerful, influential figures that were important to history and it's honestly sad to see. Or, they want to take someone that was actually black, and try to make them into something that they were not and give them more significance and importance and status than they actually had. Recent example of that is the whole Assassin's Creed thing with the black retainer Yasuke who some people really, REALLY want to believe was a samurai. I've seen gay people do this quite a bit too. They see a character and project their own homosexuality onto it and try to convince themselves that whatever character they like is gay. This is especially common in 'bromance' type relationships where two guys are just really good friends, they ALWAYS want to make them gay. And if a character is eventually portrayed as being explicitly straight, or if it turns out they were bi, the gay community acts in outrage. Bayonetta is a good recent example. Although one of my favorite examples of this are the people who continually insist that Dracula is somehow queer. You know, the guy who forsook his soul because of the death of his WIFE. The guy who had 3 vampire wives. The guy who went to England to reunite with his reincarnated wife. The guy who seduced and turned Lucy, a woman. Somehow they bend over backwards reading the text wanting to believe he's a queer icon. Another good example is the character Tingle from the Legend of Zelda series. Some people really want to believe he is gay because of the way he dresses and acts (which honestly says a lot about these people). In reality, he represents a Japanese trope that they are just unfamiliar with because they think the entire world revolves around the notions of ideas of people in the US. Trans people do the same thing unfortunately. I always found this behavior to be so strange and alien to me... I guess it's because some people define their whole identity around their race or sexuality and I think that is genuinely a depressing thought. Some of my favorite characters are nothing like me at all, different sex, different race, etc, and i've never felt like they had to perfectly match me to feel some kind of inspiration from them. I've even seen people like John Boyega straight up say he refused to watch Game of Thrones because it was 'just a bunch of white people' and that is literally all he could see. He didn't care about the story, the setting, nothing, he couldn't stop seeing race long enough to even give it a chance and that is genuinely very sad to me. But alas, a lot of folks have a lot of unresolved issues.
I would just like to add that it isn't just minorities that do this. Some people, across every category of humanity you can think of, do this. Some people just want to be stereotypes I guess.
This is a really good point and something I’ve been noticing as well. I find this behavior strange and alien as well as someone who is a black autistic woman myself. What’s sad is that if you call them out and criticize them on such behavior, they quickly and almost instinctively resort to calling you whatever ist and phobe they know of and it never provides for a good argument nor discussion. I’ve also been seeing autistic people (and likely other neurodivergent people) show this this kind of behavior as well. We’ve seen this behavior in society grow to the point where it’s affected recent media and even educational media. It’s concerning and is a reason why I just don’t like how much western society has grown so obsessive about diversity over the past decade. I see it causing more harm than good overall. It’s just getting so toxic these days. But now, we’ve had more and more people call this kind of weird and desperate behavior out and criticize it so perhaps it’s not all doom and gloom.

7:51 the community note is a bit wrong, but not much. At least not from the anime subtitles I watched. The cursed monster sealed within her had already been removed due to it rampaging, but that ended up killing her. She had no regrets about that, but she did not want her body to be laid to rest on the other world. Rimuru was (at least originally) a fellow Japanese, so as the closest possible substitute she asked him to be her grave instead.

Seeing this from a character design point of view the deer antlers are the only thing that differentiates her as a "deer-human" from "normal" humans, if they did not give her antlers the viewer just wouldn't know the difference.

Saying lack of sleep over a long period causes severe health concerns is honestly an understatement. You basically can go completely and utterly delusional to wanting to game end yourself. Your brain and body requires sleep so please don't attempt it, a single one off twenty four hour challenge is whatever but do it too often and you'll start suffering mood swings, depression and a whole host of possible other problems. Like be warned your brain in some cases might not ever truly recover from just severe lack of sleep, you literally might not be the same person by the end of it.

He normally has very good takes but this one was pretty bad. By any logic he could point this out in any media, plenty of Western animated shows or movies definitely had a lot of v*re moments and I mean from the older popular ones as well. That scene in Jurassic Park 2 where the T-rex stomps a guy and he gets stuck on its foot is also f*tish material in some groups. Yeah, it's definitly a strange take, from someone I normally found to be pretty reasonable. Out of everything you could complain about the slime anime, it is not super fanservicy in my opinion. If anything the show has a bit too much dialouge and the recent season is more like Board Meetings the Anime. I've been struggling myself to pay for my cat's chemo sessions, she's going to her 5th one next week, for another 600+ dollars a visit. Two days after her last session she refused to eat, or drink, forcing us to bring her in again to make sure she wasn't having complications with the chemo. So that cost even more money. Finding out that Boogie was faking cancer makes me sad, because I once enjoyed his content, and stood up for the man. I wish I had thousands of dollars to pay for these medical bills I've wracked up to save my cat's life, and I don't, but she's worth it. He had money and squandered it.

If I remember correctly, the reason Shizu requested to be consumed is that she did not want her body to be in this world to which she was forcefully brought and made her endure much suffering. As opposed to the normal burial rites.
Also there's some super cute canon-but-comedy spinoff where her ghost is still kicking around and watching RImuru have a good life and this makes her really happy, so that's something to consider watching if you want teh feels.

They are wrong about her having male traits, but Trans isn't a gender, its a categorical label that applies to someone that identifies as a gender that differs from their biological sex. To be fair on the golden calf depictions, it's very common in religious circles to give it horns in association with bulls since calves are also offspring of other animals like moose, elephants, or whales. Not sure why since the latter animals have no great interpretation in Scripture, but artistic interpretation is rarely discussed with nuance.

It cannot even be headcanon if it goes against established facts about the character. This is no different from saying she's a cis male, or even saying she's not even a deer girl at all. She's canonically female and that's that. The antlers are because antlers are the most iconic trait of deer as a species, otherwise she'd just be a normal looking human with funny mannerisms. Headcanon is more like "I think this character's favorite ice cream is mint chip" or something else just as trivial and unknown.
To add on to the story about the guy trying to stay awake and brake a record, I remember a few years ago in 2017 I think, a guy was streaming and he had actually passed away because he was sleep deprived. I don't think he did it on purpose, but it shows that sleep deprivation is something not to make light of. Edit: The streamers name was PoShYbRiD. He was actually doing a 24 hour live stream for charity. He went out to smoke, and he never came back. Again, my point is I really don't like how that kid thought it was a good idea to do that challenge.

I remeber, in the early 2000's, media made a big fuss about children believing that cows are purple because the only one they had ever seen was the Milka chocolate mascot. That female being absorbed by slime happened early in the story, around Light Novel Vol 2 or Light Novel Vol 3 I believe. It happened early because that was how the Slime was able to transform into a Human and communicate with other species and other races without looking like a blob of slime. He had to absorb some creature in order to grow, and to absorb a female who was gonna pass away eventually was the only logical way of pulling that off because if you read/watch the series you would understand that she wasn't long for this world at that point in her life and the suffering she was going through.

1- It looks like she’s not taking the antlers off but actually popping off the top of her skull. Antlers are still very much attached there.
2- Nearly every other anime I’ve seen with a “deer girl” had given them a tail/ears/nose of a deer.
Antlers aren’t the only definitive feature of deer but that could just be artistic choice to not draw attention where it isn’t needed.
3- some female deer do have antlers, but as highlighted at 2:00 it’s typically when their hormones are out of balance unless it’s a caribou.
She very well could be trans since when humans transition they actively put their hormones out of balance but I think FtM would be more likely than MtF in this situation unless it’s early stages.

In my long life, I have noticed a trend where people who are part of minority groups who don't have a lot of heroic figures to look up to are so desperate to find some that they delude themselves into believing some historical figure or fictional character is whatever they are just so they can feel some connection with them.
Black people do this A LOT as a whole. I've seen people try to say jesus was black, say the Egyptian pharaohs were black, cleopatra was black, the greeks were all black, even Beethoven was black. I guess when Black History month just revolves around literally just MLK, with minor mentions for malcolm x and people like Rosa parks, that doesn't give them much to work with, and they so desperately want some kind of major, powerful, influential figures that were important to history and it's honestly sad to see. Or, they want to take someone that was actually black, and try to make them into something that they were not and give them more significance and importance and status than they actually had. Recent example of that is the whole Assassin's Creed thing with the black retainer Yasuke who some people really, REALLY want to believe was a samurai.
I've seen gay people do this quite a bit too. They see a character and project their own homosexuality onto it and try to convince themselves that whatever character they like is gay. This is especially common in 'bromance' type relationships where two guys are just really good friends, they ALWAYS want to make them gay. And if a character is eventually portrayed as being explicitly straight, or if it turns out they were bi, the gay community acts in outrage. Bayonetta is a good recent example. Although one of my favorite examples of this are the people who continually insist that Dracula is somehow queer. You know, the guy who forsook his soul because of the death of his WIFE. The guy who had 3 vampire wives. The guy who went to England to reunite with his reincarnated wife. The guy who seduced and turned Lucy, a woman. Somehow they bend over backwards reading the text wanting to believe he's a queer icon. Another good example is the character Tingle from the Legend of Zelda series. Some people really want to believe he is gay because of the way he dresses and acts (which honestly says a lot about these people). In reality, he represents a Japanese trope that they are just unfamiliar with because they think the entire world revolves around the notions of ideas of people in the US.
Trans people do the same thing unfortunately.
I always found this behavior to be so strange and alien to me... I guess it's because some people define their whole identity around their race or sexuality and I think that is genuinely a depressing thought. Some of my favorite characters are nothing like me at all, different sex, different race, etc, and i've never felt like they had to perfectly match me to feel some kind of inspiration from them. I've even seen people like John Boyega straight up say he refused to watch Game of Thrones because it was 'just a bunch of white people' and that is literally all he could see. He didn't care about the story, the setting, nothing, he couldn't stop seeing race long enough to even give it a chance and that is genuinely very sad to me. But alas, a lot of folks have a lot of unresolved issues.
Honestly, caring about race and gender that much is just stupid.
I would just like to add that it isn't just minorities that do this. Some people, across every category of humanity you can think of, do this.

This is a really good point and something I’ve been noticing as well. I find this behavior strange and alien as well as someone who is a black autistic woman myself. What’s sad is that if you call them out and criticize them on such behavior, they quickly and almost instinctively resort to calling you whatever ist and phobe they know of and it never provides for a good argument nor discussion. I’ve also been seeing autistic people (and likely other neurodivergent people) show this this kind of behavior as well. We’ve seen this behavior in society grow to the point where it’s affected recent media and even educational media. It’s concerning and is a reason why I just don’t like how much western society has grown so obsessive about diversity over the past decade. I see it causing more harm than good overall. It’s just getting so toxic these days.
But now, we’ve had more and more people call this kind of weird and desperate behavior out and criticize it so perhaps it’s not all doom and gloom.

Yeah, it's definitly a strange take, from someone I normally found to be pretty reasonable. Out of everything you could complain about the slime anime, it is not super fanservicy in my opinion. If anything the show has a bit too much dialouge and the recent season is more like Board Meetings the Anime.
Don't get me wrong, I actually like the slime anime, but to call it literally hentai doesn't feel like a strong claim.

I've been struggling myself to pay for my cat's chemo sessions, she's going to her 5th one next week, for another 600+ dollars a visit. Two days after her last session she refused to eat, or drink, forcing us to bring her in again to make sure she wasn't having complications with the chemo. So that cost even more money. Finding out that Boogie was faking cancer makes me sad, because I once enjoyed his content, and stood up for the man. I wish I had thousands of dollars to pay for these medical bills I've wracked up to save my cat's life, and I don't, but she's worth it. He had money and squandered it.

To be fair on the golden calf depictions, it's very common in religious circles to give it horns in association with bulls since calves are also offspring of other animals like moose, elephants, or whales. Not sure why since the latter animals have no great interpretation in Scripture, but artistic interpretation is rarely discussed with nuance.

It cannot even be headcanon if it goes against established facts about the character. This is no different from saying she's a cis male, or even saying she's not even a deer girl at all. She's canonically female and that's that. The antlers are because antlers are the most iconic trait of deer as a species, otherwise she'd just be a normal looking human with funny mannerisms.
Headcanon is more like "I think this character's favorite ice cream is mint chip" or something else just as trivial and unknown.
To add on to the story about the guy trying to stay awake and brake a record, I remember a few years ago in 2017 I think, a guy was streaming and he had actually passed away because he was sleep deprived. I don't think he did it on purpose, but it shows that sleep deprivation is something not to make light of.

First of all the plural of deer is deer. Not deers.
That female being absorbed by slime happened early in the story, around Light Novel Vol 2 or Light Novel Vol 3 I believe.
It happened early because that was how the Slime was able to transform into a Human and communicate with other species and other races without looking like a blob of slime.
He had to absorb some creature in order to grow, and to absorb a female who was gonna pass away eventually was the only logical way of pulling that off because if you read/watch the series you would understand that she wasn't long for this world at that point in her life and the suffering she was going through.
