That's not really what he's doing. He's leaving the people to talk and make dicks of themselves. Some opinions are actually unworthy and just nonsense, best to let them talk and look stupid and also betray their true views when they imagine the listener is sympathetic.

Really interesting, thank you. I agree that Louis Theroux did body-snatch her career and it's surprising how flippantly he dismisses it here. Everything he did, she did first and better - in my opinion. He couldn't replicate Wax's humour or warmth and his interviews always left me uncomfortable, as if he was creating an intimacy between himself and the audience that the subject being interviewed was worth having the piss taken.
He probably pinched the concept, if you can call it that, but Wax's were generally filmed over the course of day or two, while Theroux's were more in-depth character studies filmed over several months. Theroux's were much more journalistic while Wax's were generally a chaotic, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the life of a celebrity.
Edinburgh TV Fest, what's your deaL? You post a video that essentially makes no sense to post b/c you're not showing the important parts to make sense of the whole video... Duh!
I quite like Louis’ shows tho I’m not a massive fan, and I remember Ruby Wax’s stuff from earlier, and IMHO the similarities between them are superficial and partial. Her shtick was the loud American comedian making weird people look foolish; Louis is famously mild and neutral and teases out unexpected human stories from extreme situations. I reckon this is why his career has had more longevity. She can always claim gender bias and there may well have been elements of that in the process, but I think Louis is right if slightly bitchy to say Ruby Wax’s beef might be more dealing with the end of her “TV shelf life” - her thing had run its course and didn’t have the legs his did.
This really sucks, every time she said 'I'll just show the clip' there was a blank screen that said 'We're sorry, but we do not have permission to show this clip'.
we dont have permission to show the segment which explains why I'm annoyed at his clip, nor do we have permission to show the segment where I'm annoyed at the person that, on editing this video, realises that it makes no sense without the clips as the interview talks around it without ever explaining the clip... and still decides to upload it anyway.
You say it like it’s that straight forward. This is a clip from the Edinburgh festival. The clips are from bbc and Adam Buxton’s podcast. Don’t you think they would have tried to get permission?!
Bit of a crock watching an interview and you're not allowed to see "that clip". Kinda seems like a poor way to spend 8 minutes and 40 seconds of your life really.

But with the audience shouting, "Wow, that cake looked amazing!" after we've not seen it.
FFS... do you realise you don’t need permission to insert a brief description of the footage?
We don’t have permission to show this clip. Annoying
"we deaded that beef" hahahah

If you're interested, Ruby Wax's comments about Louis are on "The Adam Buxton Podcast" Ep.90 at 18:48.

Scientologists do train for verbal confrontations ,according to leah rimini.

That trip to San Quinton really changed Louis Lol
Hang on a minute this is the Edinburgh television festival youtube account. You don't have permission to show a clip from your own festival?
But I suppose the clip wouldn't be from the festival, only shown there. They presumably don't have rights to post it on youtube.
Nowhere near as good without the clips.

Blame the BBC, or whoever the copyright holders are nowadays.
What is Dawn O’Porter?
cannot see part of the show
I find it a little strange that Wax would be upset by that, is she saying she has a perpetual monopoly on profile documentary making?
