I have a 1960s Vermeer model 6... and have been trying to figure out how to remove my hydraulic pump belt. This video was exactly what I needed thanks!!!
Great video but keep it up keep them coming when it comes time for me to change the hydraulic drive belt I would definitely go to this video. Great go to you
Damn that belt looks tight. Can't possibly be good on that crankshaft, and main seal. I would probably look into getting an actual service manual if you are going more in depth than what owners manual covers.
Do not do it this way...that tapered coupler is made of cast and will crack if you're not careful..plus,it maked realignment difficult, causing tracking issues...there's 4 bolts that are on the slide bracket, that are behind the clutch..loosen those and bam! Replacement p/n in Dayco is an L427
This is not how you do this! loosen the 4 bolts on the back of the engine the whole bracket that the hydraulic pump bolts to will move forward and backwards ,
You can loosen the pump motor mounts, they have long holes, which are there to tighten and loosen the pump belt. Easy job without removing the pulley and using a breaker bar.

Thanks for the tip brother, I have recently purchased a 252 and was wondering what would entail to switch out belts! Thank you sir
There are 4 bolts behind the clutch, you just loosin those and it slides and then you just slide the belt off. It would be alot easier then this video
Alot easier!!!!!!!! Loosen 4 bolts & move fwd or back. So simple!!!!!

so is there not a way to lessen the tension on the belt like loosening the motor mounts?
Yes you can loosen the motor mounts, it just takes longer and involves an additional 2 belts that run to the jack shaft
ok, just hoping Vermeer engineered a method to tighten it.
