Taiwan like to be more artistic in word/text as they still using traditional chinese which is more writing per word and more complex. Thus nurture their citizen to be more of like scholar type. China at the other hand evolved too quickly, there might be lesser artist willing to be indie, they might be more toward pop/rap/rock genre. But statistically speaking, China could have more indie artist (Art type and any other type), the problem is their platform might no so open and wont allowed international to knew them easily.

they usually call it taiwan indie, but either way is fine. there's no must but more accurate
