In the modern version he is doing a safe technique. In the 97 recording he is shrieking over his head voice. It’s unhinged chaotic and shockingly beautiful because it matches the rest of the song, but you can’t do that for 25 years and keep your voice. Glad to see that he figured out how to do that song safely.

Seen them open for Pantera and Original Black Sabbath in Boston and went in going "F the Deftones, I'm here for Pantera and Sabbath"! Came out of the show going "F YA the DEFTONES"! They held their own on stage with the likes of Pantera and Sabbath and came out with me, a die hard Pantera fan, complementing their performance. They will forever have my respect and admiration from one night of my life.

Don't let the mixing of the vocals on both concerts fool you from thinking that the most recent one sounds "weaker" they sound almost exactly the same. Vocals are mixed completely different so they will sound completely different. But chino still kills it
