    For those people mentioning that Mastersounds are no longer making their mixers, you can still buy the same mixers under the Union Audio name. They made the Mastersounds versions anyway.

If you can ever do a four valve master sounds it would be greatly appreciated as all of the videos are I will close with saying this is the best mixer I ownedand I’ve played on the ability to bring two records together to make it sound like one signal is superb on this mixer

    About summing. While my main mixer Formula Sound PM90 was being serviced I used a vintage Monacor MPX-9000 DJ-mixer. Not a bad mixer but fidelity wise clearly inferior to the PM90. I really loved how the Monacor summed the signals. It's hard to describe what made it so special but I try. It was like the resolution of the signal was gradually bettered when the fader was moved up. That made it some how "smoother" or "easier to mix".

    I love the cue button on these mixers! Also about the summing: I guess headroom plays an important role in the equation. As long as every component stays far away from it's operational limits, you get a "relaxed" sound.

    Thanks for the video, do you ever test "crosstalk" with the mixers and how do the mixers compare with others. I have an Ecler Nuo 2.0 and the crosstalk was pretty bad until I used those rca caps / plugs. This year I purchased Master sounds Radius 4 MK2 and I experienced similar things happening and it's especially noticeable on the photo channels of my DJ mixers. Do you know why this affects those channels in particular. I'm eager to learn and understand these concepts and enjoy your channel. Thanks

    • @mixersinside
      @mixersinside  6 месяцев назад +2

      @@dubdjnelson crosstalk arises because of many reasons, one of them is poor grounding/PCB layout. I didn't test it cause in most cases crosstalk is on acceptable level. The vinyl medium itself has a lot of crosstalk so if you play with records you shouldn't worry about it, cause the signal from the cartridge has already terrible crosstalk. If you want to know more about it there are lots lots lots of informations about it in the web.

    • @MrJemabaris
      @MrJemabaris 4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah but there's a lot of difference between the crosstalk of the left and right channels of one source and the crosstalk of two different sources. I've hears mixers that have terrible crosstalk of the cued audio source and that's just terrible @@mixersinside

    Very great reviews. It's very interesting to understand better the inside of those mixer. I had a question, what software do you use to measure transparency of the mixer ? And what's is the important parameter to check ?

    • @mixersinside
      @mixersinside  6 месяцев назад +4

      @@levraidesir I use Room EQ Wizard. You can find details about my setup in Ecler Nuo/Warm video.
      There are a lot of parameters to check when you want to judge audio quality. Most popular are THD @ 1kHz, THD vs frequency (I discuss it in RANE video), IMD, SNR, crosstalk, squarevawe response and many others. All are very important. On my channel I use THD @ 1kHz to briefly check if the mixer is on the clean or colored side.
      I don't focus that much on measurements on this channel because as I said in the first episode (Bozak mixer) the sound character of DJ mixers is a matter of preference and doing detailed measurements will give you a lot of information and no information at the same time. I highly recommend using ears when buying a mixer, but also i really recommend being marketing resistant, cause marketing has actually a lot to do with how our ear works (or how we want our ears to work for us when being strongly biased by beautiful words crafted by marketing departaments).
      Thank you for your questions and I hope that my videos will answer them partly. For getting familiar with measurements and parameters i recommend Audio Precision website.

      @@mixersinside Hello Kamil, thanks for your reply. I have a long history with Mastersounds, a history that starts happy and ends... well lets say i sold all my Mastersounds stuff for personal differences with the brand. I got my frist Radius 2 in 2016, one of the first Mixers MS made back then. They had in the beginning 2 Versions - the standard version and a version with different op amps - called premium version - otherwise the mixers where identical.
      after a few years they changed the internal design, components and ofc the op amps, also they know did a step back from the "hand build" building process and things get done more in a modern way and they sorted the premium version out.
      this is what i call the mk2 of the radius 2 / 4 but mastersounds did this very stealthy and had a lot of esoteric stuff about this on their product pages and disccusion in all groups on facebook etc... you can notice the mk1 and inofficial mk2 version on the vu meter - the mk1 had only mastersounds printed on mk2 the vu meters has mastersounds and union audio printed on the scala.
      the then offical mk2 version is what i called mk3, agian they change internals and production but also set down the price. this came agian with a lot of esoteric stuff, when you read it you might think its all better then in mk1 and thats for a lower price but it clearly was only made to get out more devices. nothing worng for a company but a step down from what they started.
      So yes, you are right. There is only MK1 and MK2 but 3 Versions and MK1 had even a premium version.

    I love the rotary's mixer but maybe any chance to do a AH 96 or the Pioneer V10 (especially) to see if the
    3500$ price tag is actually a total rip off (probably is) but would be interesting as they are the two mixers that 80%% of clubs are using in the world

    • @mixersinside
      @mixersinside  5 месяцев назад +3

      @@samimasmoudi4098 there is definitely a chance for 96 video in the future. I saw it inside once I was servicing it in the times i didn't have this channel.
      What can I say straight away is that many "boutiqe" rotary mixers are a rip off compared to Xone 96. There is a lot of technology involved in this mixer, it has an USB interface with AKM DAC chips on every channel, great sounding clickless resonant filters. It's definitely more serious engineering and very well crafted product. You get much more when you buy a 96 compared to some most popular rotaries that are expensive as hell and inside they have 70s/80s technology rip off that is done with really basic and cheap parts. I'm not saying they sound bad, i mean that in terms of parts and engineering cost they have definitely less value than Xone 96 or Pioneer V10.
      Speaking of Pioneer, damn. This is serious engineering as well. There are many controversies about Pioneer because of they are based on digital technology, but believe me that digital technology got much better for last 10-15 years and now you can get perfectly clean sound if you like such sound. Pioneer implements lots of software engineering, their enclosures are perfectly crafted - it's a work of a team, not guy in the garage.
      I think that it's not coincidence that speaking of rider mixers we talk about Pioneer or A&H.
