I LOVE that you show us that your plants are not all spotless and perfect, but gets a brown leaf here and there, just like my plants and everybody elses plants. You keep it real! :)
The only way!
Plants are so good for growing out of perfectionism
Jade plant is for out door..….
Too many plants indoors…
😊
@@tuyetvo4353 Not here in Scandinavia where I live! It is below zero degrees outside now. 🥶
The reason why he is the only plant tuber I trust 😅
Ohhh love your longer videos! I love how you are so down to earth you are about your collection seeing that you don't necessarily buy into the 'rare' plant craze. It is refreshing to see someone who is happy with their collection instead of chasing the next thing.
Thanks. Yeah I like to keep costs down 😅
U.
Really enjoyed that, thanks 🙂 . Just said to my long suffering husband ‘oh look at those window shelves , I bet you could make one of them’ . He says to tell you thanks a lot 😄
😂😂😂
What I love about your channel is that you don't obsess about the size.
That's rather discouraging for people like me who love plants but cannot have it as a career.
I am sure we all do our best and have some great plants, but cannot aspire to vast, and perfect collections that the professionals have.
I, BTW, rescue and run a beautiful home for dogs in need. As in abandoned, abused, surrendered pets, and strays who because of age, chronic illnesses, or having become maimed from accidents or having been subjected to human tormentors can no longer survive on the roads.
We have lovely flowering plants there too.
I digress, but thank you for being attainable.
Completely agree! Loving plants without the competition, is the wholesomeness that I'm here for ❤️
I agree ☝️
Thanks for watching 😁
What an absolute, TREAT! Adore the long format and chilled, lo-fi vibes . So nice to see all the plants in everyday situ. Thanks, Richard ❤️👌🏻
Plant daddy Sheffield feeding us our much needed dose of chill plant vibes 😋🧘♂
@@Tminus89 Yes, Tim 🙌🏻. Nothing better than sitting down with a coffee, waiting for the Saturday vid ❤️ #sheffdaddy #fanclub #plantfrens
Glad you enjoyed it!
I watched so many videos from your channel, and I appreciate your humors and how you keep it real. 😊👍🏻 Some plants are just so hard to take care of and there’s no shame if they don’t do well in our house.
Thank you 😊. Very sensible
Thank you for the tour ! I enjoyed it very much: so nice to see plants most of us can afford 🌱🪴💚
Glad you enjoyed it!
Something about having woken up to a new SMP video-on a morning where I have an unending list of plant chores-feels better than Christmas.☺️
Thank you so much!!
Love that!
I’m watching and commenting “Yes! I’ve got one of those!” My daughter is calling it “plant bingo” 😂
Love that!
Awww I love the first plant “looks quite nice, even with the crispy brown leaves”
That’s for being real. ❤
Always 😂
It is wonderful to watch a video by a plant expert who is mortal!
Absolutely 💯
Please don’t give up on the sweetheart Hoya! I had mine for over a year and surprise! It now has 7 hearts. 💚
Will do thanks 👍
It can be tricky though bc you need to have a stem-part on the propagation for it to work, and a lot of them sold like that (just to be "pretty") isn't propagated properly :/
Your home is lovely and your plants are arranged beautifully!
Thank you 😊
Thank you for this tour! I love the colors, both from plants like the coleus and your other decor. I live in a cloudy, cool climate too, the Northwest US, and use bright colors and plants to cheer things up. 🌺🍁🌲
Definitely needed!
I saved this and will have to watch later. I learn so much from your channel and love all my plants as friends🥰
Wonderful!
Your plants are very lucky to have you as their plant parent and live in your colorful home. 😊Thank you for the lovely tour! 🪴💙🪴
Thanks for watching 😁
Re: Your Sedum: it's called "ice plant" and is used for ground cover along freeways in the SF Bay Area, so yeah, it wants to crawl. It blooms sporadically outdoors and gets rather scraggly, but who notices when they're passing it at 70mph? Won't tolerate freezing temps, so it's an indoor plant for those of us further north.
On "low light": Foot-candles (the measurement of the amount of light falling on a surface) decreases as a -square- of the distance, in other words, the light amount drops by half with each unit of measurement, per foot/meter. So the light intensity from a window drops very quickly. Even a shade-loving plant gets more light outdoors in the shade than it will four or five feet from a window. Grow lights may not be aesthetically pleasing, but your plants will love you for it.
I purchased a 50 year old jade plant from a local plant sale. It was huge! The base of the main stock was at least 6" wide. I was unable to provide optimal lighting and overwatered it... 3 months after getting the plant the whole stock became rotten and it died... I saved many cuttings but did the same to them in time... It was devistating.. I have since learned from my mistake but can't look at a jade plant without thinking of that monster mistake.
Thanks for the tour friend!
Thanks for watching 😁
Thankyou for sharimg your home plants tour🌱🌿🍀
I bet the 2024 edition of his entire collection will be 2 hours long and features a major score by Hans Zimmer.
Good idea!
I struggled with my syngonium too. Now it lives in water and we're both happy!
Great stuff 👍
I have just gotten back into houseplants again. I love my outdoor gardens around my house. We are in Michigan and have long dreary winters and having some plants inside makes it a little more bearable. I am learning a lot from your channel! Mostly that the light in my house is awful and have had to add some grow lights! 😢 I love that your plants aren't perfect and you give us a chance to learn from them.
Great stuff 👍
I love your prayer plants
Lovely plants. My very favorite is your marble queen pothos. I just got a small pot and hope it ends up looking like yours. The color in your coleus is beautiful. I use to grow them in the house as they were easy to root in water. You have lots of large windows, which is very helpful. Have a blessed day.
Thanks! I recommend the coleus
I’m so glad you don’t have many moss poles
Yes! Another plant tour! I really loved your tour videos
Thank you 😊
I really enjoyed your show and you have some beautiful plants along with the troubled ones.
Thanks!
Nice to know that Alocasia Frydek does well, I've heard multiple people say they killed multiple and have to put in a(n) (indoor) greenhouse in order to keep it alive. Always interesting to see how different environments can affect growth/success and to hear the experience with certain plants from multiple people
It was really struggling last winter but came back strong
In my experience they tend to struggle a bit when they’re juvenile, but once they‘re a bit bigger no one can stop them. Mine was in a 10cm pot last winter and now it’s in a 25cm pot. Sizing up like crazy.
Beautiful, Thank you for showing your plants! I think the reason your Hoya Carnosa is not growing is not enough light. I had a few little cuttings this spring and it's a really big plant now, it's been growing faster than any other of my plants. All my Hoya's are in a west facing window and really seem to love it!
I think you’re spot on
Awesome video! I love your approach to plants and plant care.
The Hoya by the ferns that you said was a carnosa is I believe, a hoya gracilis or maybe pubicalyx but definitely not carnosa.
Cool, thanks!
That 'sad' pot of Snake Plant you mention, is fabulously architectural.
I am going to emulate it on Monday.
You've shown it before. I thought it was unusual then, and this time I've decided, I've got to make one similar.
I can pinch some leaves from the huge bunches I already have.
Sounds good 👍
Hi Richard - I used to have the same issues with my birken, and it was from overwatering. I treat my birkens like I do my snake plants and zz’s - wait until they are bone dry and then wait another three weeks, then water.
Ah ok thanks for the tip
Love your channel! Like seeing your variety of plants in different states and what you’re doing to keep them happy. I actually like seeing some of the yellow leaves here and there. Love how dedicated to your plants you are! I’m in s calif and keeping my alocasias happy is a full time job.
Awesome! Thank you!
Wow. This was so interesting. I’m clearing all the knick-knacks off my window ledges and will start growing some little plants. I’m so excited. The 7 cuttings I was given in May are still going strong. So I’m going to go for it.. I love your plants and the way you look after them. 🥰
Great stuff 👍. You’ll be hooked in no time
This is the best plant based youtube channel on this whole platform💚
Thank you 😊
1/ hoyas like to be kept like succulents. 2/ Syngonium are vining plants, they need trellis or pole to climb up on. 3/ in an old video you showed a lovely snake plant maybe a granite or marble type, I have not seen her in this video, i might have missed it. I hope she’s doing just as well as her plant sisters in your place. 4/ i have plant envy when I see your begonias (: you have a beautiful collection Richard!
Thanks! I might have missed it. Not sure which plant it is
@@SheffieldMadePlants she’s featured in the video ‘This is killing your snake plant without you knowing’ @5:01
Ps/ youtube restricted me for trying to post this comment a few days ago, apparently I was trying to violate their rules being offensive 😂
@@_evangelina__ ah yes she’s in my daughters room so doesn’t get to show herself off
@@SheffieldMadePlants aww, that’s lovely, a young plant lover 💚
3:14 Syngonium Podophyllum and yellow leaves... familiar haha. Mine dumped nearly all it's leaves and there are 5 left haha. I thought it wanted to go to plant heaven in a rush, but luckily he changed it's mind and still wants to hang around
They do that!
I rescued a croton & a snake plant off a shrub pile.
Beautiful plants! Loved the tour!❤😊
Thanks for visiting
I like how you just let the plants do what they want & you’re like “oh well” like the hoyas taking over
Haha I’m getting old
The Anthurium you first showed, is an Anthurium Clarinervium. One my absolute favourite plants. I have one in my bedroom, which is a north facing room. It has done so well for me, never complained or shown any issues. Loved it so much, I got a second one!
I get flowers from my first plant in summer time, and even new leaves! I have only just got my second one a few months back, so will see if it behaves the same way.
I believe humidity wise, my environment is perfect for them, as I’m in Cornwall. So we do have a humid and semi-tropical climate.
I do have other plants that I do supplement with grow lights, which are by Sansi. They are a great brand.
The majority of my plants are more or the shade tolerant kind, but I have noticed them doing better with the grow lights I have gotten.
Thanks for the plant tour! Love your videos! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching 😁
@@SheffieldMadePlantsYou’re welcome! Thanks for reading my comment and replying. 😊
Note on your pickle plant: dropping leaves is how these reproduce. The leaves will root when they land in the right spot. There's a few plants that reproduce this way and as indoor plants they can be rather messy for this reason. You either learn to live with the mess or...
Thanks for the tip
Love the tours! Note on watering: keeping in mind that most house plants are tropical or subtropical, I've found that watering with tepid water instead of cold water straight out of the tap helps quite a bit. Living in northern latitudes our water is quite cold compared to the tropics, so when you hit your tropical beauty with icy water it can shock it and then you've got dropping or yellowing leaves. I heard this tip decades ago and have used it ever since. Just barely tepid...not warm to your hand, you are a human and they are plants, so 'warm' for them is barely tepid to us.
A summer in Florida demonstrated to me that subtropical rain or well water is like standing in a lukewarm shower. I was on well water and never needed to use hot water in the shower. Ironically, it's easier to grow 'house' plants outdoors in FL than indoors, due to the nearly universal air conditioning. without which life is almost unbearable, but is hell on plants.
I am new to your channel. Love love love your plants
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection with us!!
My pleasure 😊
Thanks for sharing! I love your videos. I have a 2 year old poinsettia that against all instruction I keep it in direct sun. It bloomed full red all summer and is thriving with my A/C blowing on it 😊
That is awesome!
Wow! You have absolutely beautiful collection. I’m having a lot of fun watching your videos.❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
I just started a plant collection on my window sill 3 weeks ago and its honestly what gets me out of bed in the mornings
They’ll be all over your house in no time 😁
Yaaay. I always wanted to see your plants! Gotta do this again next year for updates! 🥰
Definitely!!
My hoyas root great by putting stems in water. I have never tried propating one from a leaf.
so if you talk TO your plants it's a good thing. i wonder how they like it when you talk ABOUT them while holding them. they must feel really special 🌟
They start to get self conscious 😬
@@SheffieldMadePlants maybe THAT's why the succulents are blushing ROFLMAO
Thank you for sharing. Love to see the plants in there natural settings, where they grow. Happy Saturday 😊!!!!

In the jungle the mighty jungle, Richard romps todaaaaaaay. 😁
Love your home and plant collection. ❤🪴🌿
😂 thanks!
Jade plants, provided they are allowed sufficient transition time, can handle full blast sun. They will take on red colouration in response. I'm in Southern, Western Canada, and I put mine out on the back patio during the summer.
They are absolutely super vulnerable to frost though, so remember to bring them back in early enough in the fall.
I have found they are pretty much like tomato plants with regards to heat / sun / frost response. Jades handle drying out the pot way better than tomatoes do, though.
Absolutely 💯
My jade plants are grown in the ground outdoor in Northern California. Somehow, they have survived the frost. Love their red leaves in summer.
@@rightangletriangle3188 awesome! I lost a bunch of branches to the first frost last year. Maybe ours hit a little harder and colder than yours?
I love Hoyas
What a fantastic collection Mr Sheffield. A very enjoyable tour of all your plants 🪴
Thank you kindly
For the heart shaped Hoya to grow it needs to be a sectional vine cutting… if it’s just a leaf cutting it will probably stay just a heart for many years…..
That’s what it is then. Thanks 👍
2nd comment. Luv,luv the teddy bear vine. All the plants look so great. Your doing a marvelous job, with them. Have a great weekend 😊.
Thanks so much 😊

Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm gonna smoke a big one and watch this before I need to do my jungalow plant chores
😁
I want a burgundy coleus, now ❤
Need to try some of these plants that you've got. With the heart leaf hoya I found out recently that they often sell just a leaf in a pot. Without the node it can't grow into a full plant and you can't propagate it.
Hmm that’s annoying
I enjoyed watching🥰🙏
Thanks for visiting
I enjoyed the tour so much that I subscribed to your channel.
Thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing your beautiful plants
Thanks for watching 😁
Enjoy your videos. I realized (from this video), if i lived in a house that allowed this much light I'd have a lot more plants.
Thank you 😊
wow coleus is incredible! Youve just shown me my next plant!
It's great
I'm an idiot and didn't realize I had one before lol mine was just a bunch of various colors. That red and pink of yours really pops in the sun!! Thats what got my attention lol
I enjoyed hearing you talk about Mrs. Sheffield and the little terror 😂
😁
I appreciate your natural presentation that is relaxed. Your tour of your fabulous plants that is attainable and managable because you makes it comfortable by showing your dead leaves, fungas gnat stickers, and plants that is not growing fast enough because they could be in a not ideal location. I feel like you're are not selling something
Cool thank you 👍
Just wondering if your wife and kids *actually * live there as it seems your home is overflowing with plants with no room for anything or anyone else 😂😂 love your channel!
You’ve figured it out 😂
Superb, thank you, your jungle looks awesome and I have learnt loads from your videos and enjoy all the laughs you put in too, best wishes to you, Mrs Sheffield and all your lush green friends 🙂
Many thanks!
Wow, so many different plants and they're beautiful. I love them all especially the pink Coleus and I wish I can find one for myself. Thanks so much for sharing your video 💐💖
Just pop to the shop 😁
I had a Birkin that was down to one stem. I put it on the windowsill and ignored it. My experience was to have it beg me for water and then wait another day and only then will I give it some much-needed water and now it's too big for the windowsill.
Thanks for the tip
The Alocasia will absolutely go dormant unless you keep the temperature and lighting conditions the same.
Thanks!
Thank you 😊
Calm and relaxing video am watching enjoying more n more learning…thanks for longer video…❤
