anyone hearing the “doctrines of grace” as “the gospel” can only presume that they apply to them in a positive way, that is, that they are one of the unconditionally elect. They could never know that they are among the unconditionally elect...you either know you are saved because you believe in what Christ has done on your behalf in his death on the cross or you believe you are elect because your personal experience allows you to presume so. Regeneration defined means to return something to its' original state.
Regeneration occurs as the result of remission of sins. In Heb.9:22 the author writes," Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.
Earlier in the book he speaks of the old covenants' shedding of the blood of bulls and goats as being ineffective when i came to removing "consciousness of sins"( Heb.10:2). Consciousness of sins is guilt.
Jesus said at the last supper, " This is the blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins"( Matt.26:28). He of course is speaking of his blood soon to be shed at Calvary.
The bood of bulls and goats couldn't remove the guilt from our conscience, but the blood of Christ did and does.
In Acts ch.2 Peter says," Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit".
Salvation is a free gift and there is nothing that we can do to earn it, but even a free gift must be recieved in order to it to be ours. The word " recieve" in the original Greek means,"to take hold of". We do that by obeying the keys to the kingdom of heaven which Jesus gave to Peter and he spoke in Acts 2:38.
Our repentance demonstrated by being water baptized brings about the remission of sins. During baptism the Holy Spirit circumcises our conscience , removing thrme guilt from past sins, and restoring it to its' original childlike innocence from wilful sin. This regenerates our conscience returning it to its' original state,as that of a child.
Jesus said,"Unless you become as a little child you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven"( Matt.18:2-4).
The word " remission" in thr original Greek means forgiveness,but more specifically, as rhe result of a cleansing.
Under the old covenant the cleansing of the temple by the high priest with water and blood, but because the blood was of animals it was insufficient in cleansing the temple for only a temporary visit by the Spirit of God. The blood of Christ, through water baptism, cleanses the temple of our bodies sufficiently for Holy Soirit to enter us an remain.
Well articulated position, sorry it betrays either a misunderstanding or ignorance of scripture which what Pastor Mike through the leading of the Holy Spirit expounds from the Word.
This is the problem on arminiamians teaching which you need to.cooperate on salvation.
But isn't Ezekiel 36 and 37 referring to Israel?
I think it reflects as well on present believers and future.
