What a surprising treat to see your visit to the Madonna Inn. I took a trip with my best friend’s family in 1964 and they took me to the Madonna Inn for lunch. I once again went there for a fantastic dinner with my boyfriend in 1984. I’m now 73 and totally enjoying your lovely reminder as to what a wonderful experiences they were!
I've stayed there a couple of times - it's even more kitschy, tacky and amazing than even Jordan's video can capture. Really a wonderful place. If you can plan a visit in early April, do that. The surrounding rolling California hills are gorgeous with the oranges and purples of California wildflowers. My Madonna Inn story is realizing that they have piped-in frog, no detail being too small for Madonna Inn. Our room had a window overlooking a small, bone-dry and rocky little gully out back, from which emanated the soothing tones of multiple frog song. Figured it was a frog haven until I realized on the second day that the "music" was on a timer.🐸
Amazing and beautiful! if it weren't for your vlogs we would never know these places existed. Thank you Jordan for opening up the world for us through your travels!
Boy you brought back my childhood. I was there a few times with my parents and I believe we ate at the coffee shop but then again the restaurant looks familiar too. That was years and years and years ago. We never stayed there unfortunately. It's still such a beautiful place. And I remember when I was little it seemed like it was a fairyland. Thanks for taking us back. Unfortunately I will probably never see it in person again since I'm living in Massachusetts.
I've always wanted to see the Madonna Inn. Now I have thanks to you. I loved that you showed all the out door rock work, gardens and fountains. Thank you again!
I’ve lived in Slo since 1977 and I have never stayed the night or viewed any rooms these past 45 years. It used to be booked up months in advance. I’ve eaten there lots of times at both the Steakhouse and the Copper Cafe along with taking a Black Forest and Champagne cake to go… Alex did a great deal for our local area and his funeral was a large gathering of the community back in 2004 was a horse drawn hearse through the center of town. Thanks for taking the time to do this vlog ❤️
Nostalgic for us, it's an incredible piece of Americana. We stayed there back in about 2000 whilst on vacation when we were living in SJC -- my wife and I were in one of the rock rooms, and our daughter was in some kind of fairytale-themed room. We bought a couple of sets of their unique restaurant glasses, and had secretly bought our daughter a local artist's original little fairy painting which we later gave to her for her birthday, she still has that hanging in her home.
These is a fabulous room. All the red is fantastic. I’ve always loved all kinds and sizes of rocks. The bathroom is to die for. I thought of Elvis when I saw all the red.. Thanks for sharing.❤️
Hi Jordan, how great to come back to the Madonna Inn, the more color the better for me. I love the rock sinks and shower. Nice that it's not overcrowded. The gardens are so peaceful and such beautiful flowers, a real gem. I hope you had a nice big breakfast there. Great vlog Jordan.
Wow!! You are so right the Madonna Inn is over the top!! Loved everything about it!! Your room was fantastic!! Why not splurge once in awhile, live life to the fullest!! Thanks Jordan!!
Hey your in my neck of the woods lol I grew up around the Madonna's, as a early teen I used to go watch the rodeo's they had there, super nice family. My sister was actually the bar manager there for almost 11 years. You need to try the black forest cake it is delicious.
Wow! That's quite the hotel! I love the decor and all the great gardens. That room you stayed in is absolutely fantastic! Love those rock sinks and shower!
What an amazing place. The main buildings seem to have a warm, friendly atmosphere. Can't get over the shower and wash hand basins in your room. Many Thanks we really enjoyed seeing this unique place.
In 1987 we had our Morro Bay High School Formal in the Private Venue room. Over the decades everytime we go back to Madonna we always see something new. It's a great place stay.
This place is incredible! I love old architecture, 1800s through the 50s-60s is my absolute favorite, so much attention to detail and quality. Super cool vlog, Jordan!
At some point in the early 80’s, ( I had moved to Ca in 79) the gals I worked with helped me plan a road trip from Orange County up north Ca. We hit a lot of cool spots on the way to SF. My mother had flown out from Midwest and we did stay one night at the Madonna Inn. We knew there were themed rooms. I forget which room we stayed in. I did not see the rest , so am glad to see all the beautiful grounds, the restaurants, etc. I loved the red room. And all the carved wood! And the comment one person made about the wood carver:) I bet the food is delicious there. Also, I never knew that the name Madonna was a family last name , or anything about them. This was interesting. Especially the story of how eccentric, or multifaceted a personality that Mr. Madonna had. I wonder how Mrs Madonnas personality was. Probably much more easy going, or they would fight too much. Did they have children? Their name sounds Italian, and seemed more of this place, it looks very Italian, or more European, old style. You can’t beat the beauty of real rough hewn rock, or carved heavy wood ,, and cherubs! Add some crystal and stained glass,,, it’s a fairytale land. We all need this kind of beauty. It reminds us of heaven, I think, where beauty abounds. Thanks for taking me there this evening Jordan. I am a Leo,,, and of course we like opulence and a feast for the eyes, and also the palate. I thank God for creativity like the MAdonnas had, in a sometimes drab and hard world,,, and as you said,, flowers! Flowers are essential. And God knew it!🌿🌸🦋💐😻
Jordon, that room is SO bright that you can leave your shades 😎 & probably no need for the lights to be switched on. It looks like the room self aluminised @ night. Lol What a magnificent place. As I always say, please drive carefully on your travels. Kind regards from Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺
I remember your vlog from I think 4 or 5 years ago when you went to the Madonna Inn. It's so that you went back. I hope to go there some day. Thank you Jordon for another awesome vlog ❤❤❤
Amazing architecture. Anywhere else such as holiday inn express or a Ritz, the colors would look pretty horrible and extremely tacky. Here, it absolutely works and it's what gives this place flavor and a unique identity. I really love the rock shower and his and her sinks. You kind of feel like this thing is parked in the middle of a rainforest somewhere far away. It also feels like you've stepped into a time machine circa the 70's. Absolutely gorgeous place. That restaurant is simply beautiful. The place looks amazing top to bottom. And ambiance absolutely is everything. Agreed! Thanks Jordan. I had no clue this place existed. What an absolute hidden gem. If you're ever in Cape May, NJ, try to check out the southern mansion. Another hidden gem.
Amazing video Jordon 😁 Great memories of seeing this ..I stopped off at The Madonna Inn many years ago now ...incredible place 👍 Allways remember how cool the guys restrooms 🚻 were .. Happy days 😁🥂
Loved this! Trying to play catch-up on the videos I missed the last few days. I have been sick with Covid again. Love the room! Continued Blessings and Support. ~Love&Light♥️C.
Love the rock gardens and the waterfall sounds in the background ! That room takes me back to my husbands grandmothers red “family” room . Red carpet red velvet damask wall paper velvet curtains . It was something.Even with all the loudness it’s still very quaint and charming . The rock sink and rock wall is very cool
My mother loved this place! She bought a set of purple glasses from there. She passed in 2010 but we still have the glasses. Thank you for bringing back this childhood memory! ❤️
Alex kept his German wood carver work for years because you don’t have to pay taxes until the building is done. That is why there are so many grape vines, grapes every thing carved! I love the fire place. Sister Jay
The little cottage thing is probably a shed for all the pond and garden things maybe ?? Filters and irrigation ?? This is such a neat place I like the booths in the restaurant I’m. Don’t know about the swinging doll though lol
It must be pretty dramatic for the performer(s) to float down that sweeping stairway to the stage from above. This place is so gaudy that’s it’s beautiful
Omg that is a HUGE shower! The rock work is amazing! Fabulous room - windows on 2 sides of the room with a large rounded picture window by the door. This whole thing was so exciting!! Must have cost them a fortune to build this place. Everything is top notch. (The name is a little misleading because of Madonna, the singer.) Boy, I wish this was near me!! I want to go!!
Pretty cool you’re in my part of California my man! Great video, thanks for taking us all along with you! Driven by this spot several times but have yet to stay.
That place looks so cool, reminds me of my Grandmothers fancy decorations. My Grandma was much more simple. They were probably 10 to 15 years apart in age.
Brings back memories. I miss Ca, left in 2008. I used to go to Madonna Inn when I’d be is SLO area. I’m from Glendale. It’s such a cool building and area! Thanks Jordan
Thanks for the tour! My hubby is from the Bay Area and went there as a kid ( he is 54) his mom has several of the different colored glass wear! They are beautiful! Would be awesome to see someday. Thanks again!
What an incredible place. Your room was amazing. I am blown away by the decor and to the rock bathroom decor and rock fountains, etc... What part of California is this? I would love to save up and go there. Thank you so much for sharing this video Jordan. Blessings - Judith 🎭🎤
@@michellelewis15 Thank you Michele. I've only been to San Clemente once and Hollywood once, both a thousand years ago. It sort of makes it more enjoyable for me imagining these great trip videos if I can picture where they actually are. Thank you kindly.
I think I had a smile on my face throughout the video. I grew up just north of Santa Barbara and when we had visitors or went up to Northern California we would often stop and lunch at the coffee shop at the Madonna Inn. When I was 11 my grandma wanted to look around. There was a beautiful staircase that I thought would be a beautiful place for a bride to make a grand entrance or at least be photographed.
Now that a gorgeous room that wall paper is very much like Ike and Tina's wall paper . The attention to detail at the Madonna Inn is just gorgeous. It nice to see you return what a kool place to stay I just love it .
