I can’t say this review was unbiased. The last masterpiece Zelda game I played was Ocarina of Time, they still haven’t captured the magic forme that game yet. The weapon durability aspect in Zelda is straight up trash. Switch had to compromise on hardware to function as the "mobile console" it is. the portability of the switch is so worth it for how I like to play games. I don't think you're hating on the game, just misunderstanding Nintendo's decisions with the tech that was available at the time
I’ve been playing this for almost a week and a half. I’ve come to preferred BotW slightly over this game. For this game, the story is much more expansive and enthralling; the character development, both main characters and side quest characters, are well thought out and better overall; and the building mechanics are really good. I have 2 major issues. The first problem is that the enemies are a little too strong and too dense. This has made me decide many times that I’d rather ignore them and save my resources, than dive in and wreck their base/camp for parts and treasure. The 2nd issue is the biggest one by far. The new arrow mechanics just plain suck. I’m a big arrow user. My favorite thing was sniping an enemy base to soften them up before running in for the attack. Now that’s cumbersome, and too easy to make mistakes.
As someone who decided against getting this game in the end, I'm really glad to hear that it is more Story based then BOTW and I'm glad the world seems much more lived in too. Also happy that traditional dungeons have returned, the Shrines and Divine Beasts did absolutely nothing for me. I think I'll pick this up at some point.
been playing BOTW for the first time as of recent and while TOTK looks massive, my main criticism of BOTW is well....the world itself...if feels empty a lot of the time with enemies sprinkled in and a stamina system that feels restrictive. I'm trying my best to push through because ik it gets better but man the early game feels like a chore. hopefully TOTK improves early game
I think the world being empty was intentional in BOTW, it’s a post apocalyptic world that’s barely holding on. However I’m glad to hear that people are celebrating this game already; I’m going to do the one thing I didn’t for BOTW, trying to 100% completely blind, so this is going to be most likely the only video I watch.
Fun fact with minimal spoilers- if you finish a few quests in hateno and talk to a fashion related npc while wearing the hylain hood, you can put the hood down like on the box art.
The new combat makes me unsure I want to play this game. I loved BOTW, but I'm a pretty casual player now instead of the hardcore player that I was a few years ago. I'm not looking for a tough challenge as much as I am the fun of exploration.
I only played botw for the first time in March and April and I had an amazing time. This time I cannot wait and will head into it tomorrow, really looking forward to it, this seems to be even better than botw, which is a masterpiece
Nintendo are truly wizards in the gaming community. In an age where so many developers are focusing on pretty graphics while letting their gameplay fall to the wayside, or releasing one buggy mess after another, it’s awesome to see what the N can do on a console that’s 6 years old.
I got into the game free from spoilers. Still a bit sceptic about the skyloft concept advertised by Nintendo. I wanted the Depths of the wild with caves and dungeons to explore. I was happy when I soon find a first cave to explore at Hyrule surface. But when I started to figured out what the chafts really are for and took the first mission to follow down there… I was thrilled by the suprise kept by Nintendo when I realized this new wast biom is as big as the world above. This is like a full 3D Zelda a Link to the past parallell world system. This exceeded my wishes and expectations! ❤
It's funny, even when I thought this was basically a $70 expansion I was pretty happy to get more of Breath of the Wild. But just the amount they've not told us yet has been wild.
Nice to see yet another Nintendo W this 2023, as a corporation they aren’t always the best so it’s nice that we still get masterpieces like this and the Mario Movie
I have Always dreamed of a water well You could go into, but than finding a massive underground surface with shrines and big monsters. That is just amazing. And so beautifull from inside
WOW! I now understand why Nintendo took 6 YEARS to develop TOTK! They reused BOTW's map, sounds, graphics, animations, game mechanics and MOST assets to bring us an incredible expansion pack! I really LOVE the underground portion, which is HUGE and basically a giant, empty chasm devoid of fun and content! I'm a pasty-white 31 y/o man-child with a triforce tattoo, small shlong, man-boobies who can't judge media independent of my addiction to nostalgia! Can't wait to emulate Switch and run this on my PC for free!
I'm getting in a midnight release tonight at my local GameStop and my brother is gonna go preorder the collectors edition for me. Y'all, it's almost here
I love that they named it Ultra Hand, which is the name of a Nintendo-made toy from their past. It was basically a small grabber arm that someone could use to extend and grab something.
BotW was a 7.5/10 game for me due to a few reasons, dungeons being the biggest. If TotK fixes this issue, then I'll be very excited. While I prefer the 2D Zelda games, this might just be my new favorite 3D Zelda. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!
It’s a little disheartening to hear that the game dips below 20 during “intense” combat moments, or complicated Zonai vehicles. Which, by the review, didn’t look that intense. Performance is a big deal to me. No, it doesn’t have to be perfect- I was quite happy with Breath of the Wild’s performance despite the draw distance and very few minor hiccups. But this seems like it’ll be a much more frequent occurrence, and it’s making me wary as a consumer. I want to enjoy the game, but I worry the amount of chugging I’ll be subject to will be more than ideal.
10/10…cue janky performance issues (at times) 🤨 A true “masterpiece” would be flawless, so why give it this score 🤷🏻♂️ Nonetheless, hours of fun will be had with this one 🤗
Lack of dungeons? Bro there's like 120 fucking Shrines that allow you to level up your hearts and Stamina!! Go play Wind Waker where the ENTIRELY of Hyrule is flooded and barely anything to do!! I spent the past 2 weeks replaying BoTW and it wasn't "empty" at all!! 🙄 Guardians are scattered around Hyrule, lots of enemy camps, horse stables like EVERYWHERE, there's villages and you can even explore Hyrule Castle!!
I was one of those folks who loved everything about BOTW and had everyone calling me crazy. Now I'm one of those folks who isn't excited for anything this game is offering and now I'm getting called crazy again.
It still just looks like DLC. Why did this game take just as long as the first to develop when it's a re-use of assets and engine? Makes no sense. It could have been made in 2 years. It repeats on most of the mistakes of BOTW too. I'll stick to traditional 3D Zelda.
I've already put nearly 10 hours in the game since launch and I've still just at the beginning! There's just so much to do and discover, that I can't get that game out of my head! This game lives up to the hype and more! That score is more than deserved. And thank you for making this review so spoiler-free, at least I still can go further in with most of the game still new to me.
Couldn’t agree more with your review! While the frame rate dips at times, it more than makes up for it with the sheer improvement it is over BOTW, something that I honestly didn’t see possible given that it’s one of my personal favorite games.
Going to be a amazing experience

I only played botw for the first time in March and April and I had an amazing time. This time I cannot wait and will head into it tomorrow, really looking forward to it, this seems to be even better than botw, which is a masterpiece
Totk is basically Botw on steroids... and I love it!
Nintendo are truly wizards in the gaming community. In an age where so many developers are focusing on pretty graphics while letting their gameplay fall to the wayside, or releasing one buggy mess after another, it’s awesome to see what the N can do on a console that’s 6 years old.
I love that Felix got to do this one.
Crazy that people doubted Zelda team 😭
It's funny, even when I thought this was basically a $70 expansion I was pretty happy to get more of Breath of the Wild. But just the amount they've not told us yet has been wild.
Can't wait! Release is in less than 24 hours for me.🎉
A Link to the Past is and always will be my favorite Zelda game!
Great review. Better than IGNs. Much more informative.
Can't wait to play
"Better than igns" isn't saying much.
Nice to see yet another Nintendo W this 2023, as a corporation they aren’t always the best so it’s nice that we still get masterpieces like this and the Mario Movie
It's great to see Breath of the Wild still being supported with this new DLC.
Are you for real?
the way you’re speaking does make you sound like you fit that description.
imagine being this miserable

Powered by AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, Tears of the Kingdom is a definite MUST BUY this late Spring/early Summer!
That poor Korok 😭😂 6:40
Poor fella literally just got yeeted across the map 🥲
I'm getting in a midnight release tonight at my local GameStop and my brother is gonna go preorder the collectors edition for me. Y'all, it's almost here
I am beyond excited. I kept covering my eyes watching the video to avoid seeing things :D
I know right i did the same thing but i went right to the end of the video just to see and score and no surprise there 10/10
12:05 hits different when they give that score and the music in the background, 😍
I love that they named it Ultra Hand, which is the name of a Nintendo-made toy from their past. It was basically a small grabber arm that someone could use to extend and grab something.
Yeah - the Ultra Hand name is a nice ... catch. 😎
@@DkViking1 Apt emoji. YEEEEEAAAAAH!
BotW was a 7.5/10 game for me due to a few reasons, dungeons being the biggest. If TotK fixes this issue, then I'll be very excited. While I prefer the 2D Zelda games, this might just be my new favorite 3D Zelda. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!
This is literally BOTW 2.0. I dont know what eveyone is so hyped about.
Wow! Almost like THATS WHAT IT WAS PITCHED AS SINCE IT WAS . These arguments are getting progressively more ridiculous lmao
Can’t wait to play this DLC 😍❤️
10/10…cue janky performance issues (at times) 🤨 A true “masterpiece” would be flawless, so why give it this score 🤷🏻♂️ Nonetheless, hours of fun will be had with this one 🤗
I don’t mean to be a hater but I played 20 hours of BOTW and this kinda seems like…more of the same? Like a giant DLC for the first game
It really does lol
Game got a 97 on Metacritic (as of this post)... Crazy!
I honestly don't see how this doesn't get GotY now
Also 20 hearts in one row?!?
my issue with botw was how empty the game felt the whole way through and lack of dungeons. this looks amazing! cant wait
Shh
Don't say nun bad

You're a "special kind" of crazy though so it's all good.
everyone called you crazy for loving botw, one of the highest reviewed games of all time? lol
This looks really good
It still just looks like DLC. Why did this game take just as long as the first to develop when it's a re-use of assets and engine? Makes no sense. It could have been made in 2 years. It repeats on most of the mistakes of BOTW too. I'll stick to traditional 3D Zelda.
Haters gonna hate.
CAN.NOT.WAIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT
Thank you for this relatively spoiler-free review!!
It’s hard for a 10/10, but for me it’s definitely a 9/10. I can imagine ways for improvement, but I’m also absolutely in love.
Less than 24 hours until we can all venture back into the wonderful world of Hyrule 🗡🛡
Got bored with BOTW so think I'm gonna pass on this.
Couldn’t agree more with your review! While the frame rate dips at times, it more than makes up for it with the sheer improvement it is over BOTW, something that I honestly didn’t see possible given that it’s one of my personal favorite games.
