Honestly I think this is a very educational example of how synthesizers actually work. It's almost like making different noises by modulating a saw wave, but you're doing it by recording a physical object that produces something like a saw wave, in a bunch of variations.
Sine wave. But yes! synths are where frequency in electronics crosses over into music.
Literally what I hate about synthwave. No music theory or cords of any kind, just poppy sounding slop. It gets really annoying more and more.
