The man singing this is a Norwegian singer/actor by the name of Espen Grjotheim and the female vocalist is Tracey Campbell. My favourite live version of this wonderful song.
Incredible, when you found the root of a great song, have many versions whith other arrangements, but the original spirit is unique. best regards from the corner of the World, in Santiago Chile, in the Mayor of Recoleta
UNFORGETTABLE ... This version is so incredible beautiful and touching ! Thanks, "Secret Garden" ! Thanks, Espen Grjotheim (Norwegian) , Tracy Campbell !
Another stellar performance of this classic ballad. Ho fitting that Secret Garden, who are known for their use of the violin, would cover this song. The violin is capable of producing such emotional sounds.
Secret Garden - You Raise Me Up When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary; When troubles come and my heart burdened be; Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me. * You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be. There is no life - no life without its hunger; Each restless heart beats so imperfectly; But when you come and I am filled with wonder, Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity. *

I had a wise friend who was very much older than me.. The small cell carcinoma were found in my friend's body at the end of June ,2018. His result of bone scintigraphy was unusually bad in July, 2018. I told this song to the friend who was 84 years old. “I will tell you this song.” I told him this URL. He listened to and watched this video again and again.... While I was waiting for seeing my doctor in a hospital drawing, he talked to me. "Can I draw you if would you mind? Would you mind choose some correct colors to me to draw you, because I am color blind?" He said. I chose a color pencil color for him. Surprisingly he was very good at drawting. Since then, we were talking about many topics at hospital restaurants once a month or once every few months. I was a third year student studying law by correspondence education course at that time. He was very intelligent, moral, has been talking me, sociology, English, literature, economics, history, art, music, movies, etc. He has taught me countless things. This is the original song . Rolf Løvland made this melody but after reading a book by Brendan Graham he sent his melody to Graham asking him if he would make the lyrics to his melody... and the song became you raise me up.. First recorded by Løvlands band secret garden

+flip inheck I won't even bother to comment your statement about Løvland, that's just nonsense. You're right about Brian Kennedy though, as he did the vocals on Secret Garden's original release of this song. A little known fact is that Secret Garden originaly wanted Johnny Logan on the vocals, and even recorded a demo with him. But the record company refused it because they didn't want to the album to be ascosiated with ESC in any way. Hence Kennedy was asked instead. The very first person on the planet to ever sing this song out loud though, was Brendan Graham. He played the cords on his piano and sang the lyrics he had written on Løvland's request.
+flip inheck A copy of Londonderry Air...in your dreams. That is not the only thing you are wrong about .....the first ever recording was with Johnny Logan, but the recording label (Universel) did not like the connection to ESC, so a new singer, Brian Kennedy was the singer for the first ever public performans, and it was on Norwegian tv. The first time the song was performed, was in Rolf Løvlands mothers funural, with Johnny Logan as singer
+flip inheck The melody is not The Londonderry Air or The Derry Air, or anything else ... though there are vague similarities. Except that the rhythm is different. Take the cloth out of your ears.
If you think that god is the only one can make everything is impossible, That song is a religion song, because no one can stay with you all the time in your life and in all your troubles .. this is a prayer, everybody can see that.. this is a song about troubles!!

It is a beautiful song...about relationships! nothing to argue about ...its just wonderful. If others who listened to it have some kind religious experienced being strengthened i their faith so be it. The composer and the singer can not do anything about how the song affects the listener. So lets be free to express what we feel about the song.

Wonderful! Bravo! People dont know that piece was composed by Secret Garden because many artists sing this song.

Song lyrics: When I am down and, oh my soul, so WEARY
When troubles come and my heart BURDENED be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until YOU come and sit awhile with me.
Matthew 10:28, Bible: Jesus said: "Come to me, ALL you who are WEARY and BURDENED, and I will give you REST" :)
God bless
This guy has got to be one of the best looking singers around! Who is he?
Secret Garden is the original composers of the song.
It sounds right to hear the song by the composer himself.
Música de ensueño!!!
For me original version always the best
And I love how they sing it
But for me, the best is the French version is the best because I am in Canada, and I want to learn French. So I want a French lyric for this song.
the "original" if you will is Wind beneath my Wings 😄
