- Watch some double-headed steam action on the Wilmington & Western - a railroad that's been wiped out by floods is now back and kickin'!
Alco built steamer #98 leads the train, and is a 4-4-0 "American" type locomotive! The second locomotive in the double header is a Baldwin 0-6-0, #58.
This video sure brings back alot of memories since 98 is my favorite 4-4-0 plus I'm in love with that whistle she wore seen in the vid
I like the 4-4-0's whistle. It reminds me of the Valley RR mikado in connecticut.
I also like the 3 cabooses. Nice touch.
That factory whistle fits 98 like a glove
This sure brings back memories
Interesting doubleheader, 4-4-0 & 0-6-0! GREAT camera work! (Loved the "run-over" shot!). :D
Wow that's crazy about the Rails I would love the different sound.
the double engines remind me of the story of the little red caboose.
No, in it is not a Pennsy 3 chime. It's actually a whistle off of an old factory, but is atleast a 3 chime. It does sound very similar to a PRR whistle.
such beauty!!!
=)
Nice! I'm looking at volunteering here, once I get my drivers license :)
Very neat Joe! I really love the second angle at Barely Mill Rd.
Absolutely beautiful!
@dcoursey82 Its either a PRR or Lunkenheimer. Not many people made 3 chimes round top other than Powell, Lunkenheimer, and PRR...
very nice, enjoyed the video greatly
beautiful engine!
Yeah. It's not a PRR 3 chime. I'm 99% certain. ;)
It's a factory whistle. Not even a locomotive whistle at all.
Pennsy tender? That's a standard sloped tender for a switch engine.
#58 is an ex-Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad engine
Thats gutty to place a camera in front of the steamer to get that running over view! wow !
I really enjoyed this video. When I was a kid, my parents used to take me to the W&W. I not only remember the #98, but also the #92 and saddletank engine #3. Do you know where those engines are today?
Wow it does sound very similar...are you absolutely sure it's not a PRR 3-chime?
i love the whistle on the 4-4-0!!!is that a pennsy 3 chime joe? it sounds alot like this whistle they used on the 7002 at strasburg.
this countrys backbone was built on the railroad..show some repect..do not forget your roots..signed don..
When will 92 ever come back to life again?
What kind of whistle does #98 have and #
@JoMiFu sounds like a boat whistle I've heard...
@indie1361 Cool! I want to be a volunteer a on the Wilmington & Western too.
98 leads the train 92 need money so it can e rebult and #3 was sold to the queen annes rr it some where in lower delaware
The headlights at 0:03, 1:28, 2:24 & 3:06 make great targets for several well placed rifle rounds. 10,000 points for shooting out the big one in the center & 100,000 points for shooting out the little ones on the right & left side. 2,000 points for every window in the coaches shot through.
25,000 points for shooting out one of the birds at 4:32 & 125, 000 points for shooting out both birds!
This equipment should have been cut apart & melted 50 years ago!
Junk all the steam locomotives!
Lol what are you taking about? These trains are here for fun and history. It's like having an old car.
I am just posting my comment as RUclips invites. RUclips does not say, "Post a comment everyone will agree with !"
You don't have to like my comment & I have every right to post it!
Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!
