I don't think lowering the Hussite wagon's HP is a good idea because that 's the purpose of the unit. They should lower it's attack, attack speed, range and maybe moving speed as well.
I don’t play this game but I had this initial thought. Maybe if it was slower moving and had a slightly lower firing speed it would be a a better playing field though having a decreased accuracy at a greater distance like the last two tiles are affected
I feel. The HP is excessive in castle. But the damage is low enough. Maybe reduce range and HP in castle by 1 and 10%. They are supposed to block cavalry/melee so lowering the armour protection is unnecessarily a good idea. And they are wagons. So perice armour makes sense. Move speed is already sluggish enough. Although we could always go the other route and improve movement speed and nerf damage, but let them siege up for improved damage and armour. Creating a defensive focused pushing unit instead of a slow moving unstoppable wall of health.
I love Youpudding Rush. It made me come back into the game with new confidence, because i did love trying something like that a lot on my low elo before Sicilians got updated.
Pudding has that Roman strategy too with the Rams and Scorps.... that seems like it'd counter the Sicilian strategy... but it would fail against the Bohemian one... still seems like the bohemian one is king.
Wasn't this strategy publicised and popularised by Morley games when the Bohemians were first introduced? From what i remember the difference was it was a forward castle and he just used it on Arena.
It was _Arena._ Everything can go off on Arena! But on *Arabia?* Arabia punishes weird and non-meta things...except the really weird strats, like Goth Drush back when DE released, like these two strats or the new YouPudding strat with Roman Scorps
In normal play that makes sense but this strat only requires vils on gold and wood and doesn't require a market. Once you get a castle on gold and wood and you have at least 17-20 vils you don't need anything else to win as long as the opponent doesn't get too far ahead

Could you nerf the Bohemian rush by, say, increasing build time by 5 seconds? Then the wagons can maintain their utility without being the overwhelming tide that we see with this strat.

I think if red had placed a defensive castle somewhere that could've maybe bought him the time to get stabilized. But Sicilian donjon push is all about remaining unstable the whole time and hoping the opponent falters.
It is your fault this strategy has gotten so popular, but you also taught me how to beat it! The first time I had this done to me, I immediately recalled you mention that monks were good, and it worked! My current plan whenever I see Sicilians or Bohemians is to check if they are going up for the strategy. If they are, I go fast castle and immediately build up two or three monasteries. Monks don't need any techs to do well and excel in battles of small numbers, particularly if the units are expensive and aren't backed by much economy. Perhaps it's my noob me talking but so far it has worked me well!
Does this counterplay work against the wagons? Assuming that you are playing a civ that gets redemption. Redemption is 475 gold + 100 gold per monk. I guess if you go all-in monks I could see that working
@@mcarpen89 Yes, it works. Wagons are slow and take a while to kill a monk so it's easy to get conversions. Even if the monk dies, that's a huge a swing in your favour. The big benefit here is that all you need is gold, which is easy to obtain. After all, if they go all-in wagons, there's no reason not to you all-in yourself!

I felt kinda sad when I heard the frase “this is going to be nerfed to the ground”. I hope the devs respect the creativity of those players trying to push the meta forward and make this game interesting and don’t fall into the urge to punish them by nerfing their strats. It would be like enforcing current meta from above. The pros have their strengths but they play too safe and players like YouPudding are the ones making things happen. Don’t worry about the waggons, let the people find a way to counter them. They will.

I lost to the Bohemian strat earlier this week, soooo annoying haha (in good fun). I totally blanked on how to counter and tried countering with light cav until I got to castle because I had a good economy. Maybe next time!
I think my issue was they were only feudal scouts, no blacksmith upgrades, and I think lack of husbandry was an issue to becasue he was able to run away enough to give my cav chasing. I transitioned to mangonel way to late and it was gg @@valger3652
@@valger3652 in theory yes but this build is so fast that other player usually doesn't have time to get mangos out, and if they do, the bohemians player has enough wagons to kill the mango before it can do much damage
@@mcarpen89 Defenitely hard to give one general tip to all possible scenarios. But i didnt see how naked fc into wagons could work on maps like arabia. Opp have a lot of time to finish the game with feodal pressure. Or even if castle still goes up, fully upgraded scouts can deal with wagons. On closed maps is enough time to add mangonels. 3-4 vils can repair 8-10 dmg per hit to keep mangos alive. 2 mangos can two-shot the wagon , so depend on numbers - 2-3 mangos have to stop wagon push quite easily. In some scenarios fc wagons could be still a good strat. In the end it depends on players execution and their mistakes.

Not that long ago when I used to start playing aoe2 vs AI I was getting so frustrated when AI spammed me with waggons, I tired archers, didnt work, tried cavalier and infantry, didnt work, basicly nothing worked and then I saw someone saying that waggon is most thrash units and here I was loosing to it like a noob. Well now I see they are indeed quite good
It's great to see the balance of this game continually evolving T90. It is going to be interesting to see these new strategy and tactics evolve and work their way into the other parts of AoE2. Remember the Persian Douche? At first it was thought of as fringe. Until it evolved into being efficient enough for pro play. And then it developed even more...to the point where other players tried it. From that point onward, the most unique aspects of that strategy were incorporated into core game-play loop of AoE2. And now deleting your TC is not always considered a mistake. The boundaries of the game itself have changed because of The Persian Douche. The game has a new balance to it with new boundaries of play. The available strategies and tactics to players have expanded. And the game has become more interesting as a result. It is this living and breathing evolution of the core game-play loop that will keep it alive. It is a dialectic. And it is a game that is a part of the human experience itself. I'm am passionate to see what will happen next for this game. This strategy in particular has the potential to lead us into new game-play modes. Such as the new "Smallest Map" series that you are now publishing. This type of approach makes that type of map far more interesting to both play and watch being played. And that's another dialectic, isn't it?? Man, I guess I'm beginning to enjoy your casts more and more over the years still! I say...keep up the good work!!! Woo!!
Red has been sent back to the dark age 😂😂😂 Honestly, great game. The meta is shifting in front of our very eyes and I love that the devs are still pumping out civs.
Hussite Wagon is way too easy to adjust, you first need to address Bohemians eco, the civ is poorly designed overall (Too many eco bonuses, overly convinient combos and of course the Houfnice which should be completely redesigned). Regarding the unit itself, increase their cost from 110w 70g to 125w 75g and make Mangonels more effective against them, by either reducing their movement speed or attack range. At this point they're way too easy to micro for no good reason. Either way I'm thankful for these strats, anything is better than the boomy meta we have, a shake off is needed, since devs dont seem to want the game to be more strategic, they prefer the meta to be as singular and simplified as possible, easier for them to manage.
So what happens if you go up against this and you go fast feudal into archers and put archers on the bohemian's stone? If you pressure their stone before they reach castle age it should shut this down, right?
They have to sell stone to get the gold to go castle age and then recoup the stone during the age-up to get enough stone for a castle, so even if you don't reach their stone before they click up, just pressuring the stone before they get enough stone for a castle should stall them out
Granted they could tower the stone, they could make skirms, etc etc. But all of that delays the castle going up and pushes them into more standard play, at which point you should win because you will have a bigger eco

The build is tight enough that Bohemians will not have enough stone for a castle until right before they reach castle age. Even if they've clicked up to castle by the time you have pressure on the stone, they won't have any military buildings and they won't have enough stone for a castle so even if they hit castle age, they can't do anything.

Log out of your RUclips Account and then accessing RUclips with an adblocker should work. At least it dod for me. I also stopped using Chrome and now use Firefox. It's a bit impractical and I definitely watch less RUclips now, but it worked for me.
I'm not convinced that the wagons are that good. I've only seen then countered by vils and this. This was pretty good if he scattered his villagers and razed blues market.

Red's donjon placement was painful to watch. Could've put one on the gold opposite the castle and denied blue gold but no gotta put one on the stone that he's not even taking lol omg got further into the video and he's placing one directly underneath the castle instead of just on the damn hill next to the gold. paiiiiiiiinnnnful.

Yeah. I'd love to see it closer to its actual purpose of being a screen/support for your ranged units.

The nerf that neds to happen is the feudal market. That's what underpins all of these Fast Castle strats.

Mangonels is hard counter to wagons. Kts/ light cav / ew / monks also doing very well. Actually almost all melee units is good vs wagons.

This strat is incredibly strong, if you look for a Malay vs Bohemian game in rec submissions you will see what I mean

Log out of your RUclips Account and then accessing RUclips with an adblocker should work. At least it dod for me. I also stopped using Chrome and now use Firefox.
It's a bit impractical and I definitely watch less RUclips now, but it worked for me.

Vs 7 pa fletching and bodkin helps only for castles. Mangonels is the way to go.

the whole point of uniqe units is they can do a special thing. By nerfing each time something is fun, this game will become BORING.

Red's donjon placement was painful to watch. Could've put one on the gold opposite the castle and denied blue gold but no gotta put one on the stone that he's not even taking lol
