I do agree with you t90 about byz but i think from a logical stand point, some Specific units can be soft counter for byz "not the civ as a whole"
For example, i would say if a unit can counter camels, imperial skirms, helbs and do some damage to cataphracfs. I would say that unit might be abls to handle byzantine.
One examole thar comes to mind would be imperial skirmishers althought viets are not a powerhouse civ.
So imperial skirms have 8 attack fully upgraded i think. Which translates to 3 damage vs cataphracts which honestly i'd consider a big deal personally for a trash unit, at least compared to the generic skirm 2 damage which is does nothing in a course of a fight. They can do some decent work vs spears and they can stand ground cs the discounted byz skirms.
I feel that if you force byzantine out of their cheap units comfort zone trash spam and special units, they will suck. And there are actually a few ways to do that.

Quality cast by T90 for TTL gold. MBL just dominated the 1st and last game and basically this series against Nili. The difference in skill level was just too much. I think MBL might win Gold at this rate. Gg wp!

A problem mainly for the other empires. As a civilization of colonizers, their legacy is kind of the best- most of their former colonies are much more successful today than former colonies of other empires.
@@NeblogaiLT no dubt in that. Many get confused by gratitude that some Indian areas have for Brits - they abolished there cast system and slavery, somewhat unified and calmed internal strife. All those above caused more deaths annualy than famine they caused, enforcing things above.
Brits also put an end to transatlantic slavery while other colonizers, like Arabs, countinue this practice to this day... lets not forget why USA has sizeble community of africans, decendents of said transatlantic slavery and Arab countries dont)))
Migration is my favorite for nations cup. Every game was very interesting and fun to watch.

Why shouldn't one of the final tie breakers be play 1 game to decide rather than highest seed?

Byzantines are rough. Aztecs feel like the only really good on-paper matchup for them(Eagles or Champs eat trash, Monks beat Cataphracts, gold bonus for long matches), but I’m not good enough with Aztecs to reliably pull it off.

A civ bonus, Marksmith could be kind of cool, the building is a market and a blacksmith, gives you the benefits of both, but only counts as one of the buildings needed to age up.
Shame Nili couldn't win that 2nd game, looked promising towards mid feudal.
Breaking the wall to get deer in has been a really better way. Using the sheep for door just awkward and if enemy scout comes in you have to move sheep in etc. I find break a wall or 2 and then just making a house later isn't a big deal. Worse case enemy scout comes in but like 0 percent chance he can do anything

Seeing Nili struggle with deer pushing makes me laugh. As a newer player learning Hera's fast-castle build trying to push deer I feel that pain so much.
