I think this set's main problem is biting off more than it can chew. You can tell the budget, especially in the figures, is stretched so incredibly thin.
Well said. While not ideal for most people, this set would work much better as a UCS-style set. That way, we can have a proper statue rather than just an awkwardly placed head on a stand, as well as a bigger budget for the figures.
@@marwana4834 A UCS set that nobody's going to buy? Turning it into an oversized monstrosity would be detrimental to this set working as both a compact display piece and playset.
Yeah I totally agree. He’s definitely the figure I was personally looking forward to the most originally but they clearly just didn’t have the budget for this set to make him nearly as good as he should have been. Leg printing at the very least should have been a must imo and I would have loved to see arm printing and/or some sort of cloth or molded piece for his tattered scarf, it just feels so flat as just the print.
I agree willem dafoe is by far my favorite marvel villain and lego did not capture him that well. One of my favorite actors and I just want a cool lego representation of him lol.
Good summary, Jang. True, it could be a iconic set by copper pieces and highend figs. (Lego should realy try to extend metalic parts inventory, especially for display / icons sets).
Everyone saying the figs are “lesser quality” don’t know lego themes well enough and it shows. These figures are very much on par with what Lego marvel typically does with they’re figs in kits. They lack leg print yes but that is very typical for the theme
The amount of villain minifigs are the ones where the actors physically performed, Flint's & Connors' respective actors only voiced and motion capture by someone else
I really enjoyed building It. I just hope that in other sets they include Lizard AND Sandman. My favorite Lego Minifigure: Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman (Such a Big Fan of Sam Raimi's Trilogy ). Favorite Villain: Doc Ock (It could be Green Goblin but the leg print mmm...) Bonus Minifigure: Andrew Garfield (It looks fantastic AND also It doesn't cost one thousand dollars).
Lego had plenty of time to make this set even better since the movie came out in 2021, they dropped the ball, a bit, one is the choice of certain minifigs' faces, a missing Lizard (perhaps one of Sandman too), but I'm not gonna judge the entire set for that, it's a great set despite that, depicting an amazing scene from the movie, if it can be found on discount, then I guess it would be acceptable. It's not perfect, but not that far off.
Luckily you can find discounts for this set. So the creative way we get to the value is helped by that and everyone can assign their own value, as they should.
I think Ned's too dark in this set. The medium nougat used for the clones might have been better. Otherwise I love this set. It's gorgeous, and appealing in the same way as the often quite boring conversation starter art models.
One thing I will say despite how blatantly obvious it is to some: All the villain Minifigures in this set are ones that appeared in a set for their respective films in the past. [Or polybag in Electro's case.] Green Goblin was from the LEGO Studios line and later the Spider-Man line of the early 2000's of which Doc-Ock is likewise also from. So in a way, this set is a tribute to the old LEGO Spider-Man line. A continuation of what came before in modern times.
Unfortunately I expect a lot of people are going to view this as a minifig pack since that's what everyone seems to lose their minds over these days with Lego sets and being dismissive with the set themselves sadly. I'm interested in this, but not in the rush for it and waiting for the right discount for myself. Although that said, while the value here isn't quite good enough at the moment and will need a discount to feel just right like you said, the amount of stuff is passable. Imagine how much more expensive this would've been if it was an 18+ set like the Star Wars diorama sets! And its value is certainly not as bad as the Star Wars diorama sets (looking at you Throne Room!) since for an extra $10, £5 and 5 Euros over the Throne Room, this is larger and (because people care so much about it) has far more figures than the diorama sets, even if they're below par.
I actually got this set recently (it was around my birthday), and I enjoyed building it. I feel some designs of minifigs could've been different, but it felt nice as a diorama rather than trying to make it overly tall/wide. The best element is having the 3 different Spider-Men and their replacement heads.
It seems super cheap to not at least have included some parts in that colour, even if not almost every part that makes up the statue, similar to how they had mixed gold colouration in the Infinity Gauntlet set. I feel disappointed by the decision to only use medium nougat. If this colour is indeed retired, I'm equally disappointed that it was retired so soon, given the most recent copper was just introduced in 2017 and according to online resources last appeared in 2020. I think the portal detail in the back is quite cool. The Tobey head is a huge miss to me. I think it is the worst likeness in the set. Thanks for the quality review as always Jang.
Ned and Dr Strange probably should have been cut so that Green Goblin could have gotten leg printing. Also disappointing that Doc Ock’s suit isn’t green and I think the 2020 Harry Potter hairpiece in brown would have worked better for him. The build is good though and the Spider-Men are great.
I have to say that the lack of simple arm and leg printing for the Spider-Man minifigures really kills this whole set for me. The idea of all three variations in one set was an awesome thought but the execution is poor, it’s just different torsos and heads.
After Lego spoiled Giant Man being in Civil War I’m glad Marvel and Disney stopped giving them major spoilers for their movies. I rather wait a year to get a set than have a cool surprise ruined
Huge miss not having Lizard or Sandman properly represented in minifig form, but the rest of the set is pretty solid. Definitely would prefer to have it around $20 cheaper for the build though.
Green Goblin reminds me more of the James Franco version more so than the William Dafoe version. And I don't know why Doc Ock reminds me a lot of Harry Potter from his face. That said while I'm not digging the statue part (probably mostly because I expect the patina coppper look, and yeah I know in the movie it was cleaned shiny again) having the Sandman in the set without the need of a minifig was brilliant, but there is exclusion of the Lizard which would be nice to see.

Yeah, they should have done printed one by ones for Goblin's pumpkin bombs
@@marwana4834 I think this set accomplishes everything it needs to in its size, not every set has to be hundreds of dollars
I think tobey’s figure would look a lot better with Obi-Wan’s hair piece in brown. I don’t think his hair piece in the set looks accurate.
“Expect disappointment and you’ll never get disappointed…” “Not this time” This set rules!! Great review Jang!!
I have never agreed figures should be worth CMF prices when in sets unless they’re that quality - thanks for saying it as well
If only this set would come with the Lizard, it'd be absolutely PERFECT.
For me Green Goblin was the one figure that was the most important for them to get right so it's so disappointing that he's the worst one.

Thank you for reviewing this, Jang!

Thought Electro was part of the gundam shirt in the opening shot. Great review!

As usual, good review Jang!! I might consider buying this set.
Been waiting for this. Thx for the hard work Jang
Was really hoping Green Goblin would get his helmet as an extra piece or something. Kind of disappointing.
The amount of villain minifigs are the ones where the actors physically performed, Flint's & Connors' respective actors only voiced and motion capture by someone else
weird thing about the euro price in germany, it immediately went for 80€ on amazon and a day after release went on 10% sale. so sitting at 70€ now.
That Doctor Strange minifig face makes me think of Hugo Drax from the James Bond film Moonraker.
I really enjoyed building It. I just hope that in other sets they include Lizard AND Sandman.

I believe Jang is the best Lego reviewer, hands down
For a set this important I would have preferred a $150 set
I think the perfect face for a LEGO Tom Spidey is the Marty McFly face

I saw the value, so I bought it. Especially getting all 3 spider man in LEGO form, was the thing that got me to actually buy it.
Looks great jang thanks for the brilliant review❤️❤️❤️love the content
I agree with folks about the Goblin. If it ever goes on a big sale, might still get it, but I hear more sets are coming
Thanks for the review Jang!
I think Ned's too dark in this set. The medium nougat used for the clones might have been better. Otherwise I love this set. It's gorgeous, and appealing in the same way as the often quite boring conversation starter art models.
This is on sale for around $50 should I get it?
the lego andrew garfield likeness is PERFECT here

Ave Jang. Did i already mentiond that your beard looks awsome like this? 😁 Thanks for another great video and for ou time, energy and honsty.
The goblin looks more like Alfred molina's doc ock.
Oh boy, that statue has the same face as the 70840 apocalypseburg!

this set will be a golden grail, it'll take a while but it's a comin'

Thank you for this in-depth review
Would it look better in sand green?
My local toy store has this for €85, think I might jump on it. Price seems fair now.
Dude, I saw the hand in the photos but I didn’t see the rest of the sand!
Its a huge oversight not to give MJ a screaming/scared face.
Wow looks amazing set great review

I honestly didn't love No Way Home, but this set is so nice I might pick it up anyway. I'll definitely wait for a discount, tho.

the doctor strange is just a reuse because the MoM one is in production and the NWH one isn't. that's all
I’m totally having a Mandela effect about open stud pieces in trans clear. We haven’t had those before?
I might have missed it but what were the infinity stones used for in the build?

why do I wanna put this on the lego movie statue of liberty set
Travesty that the Lizard wasn’t included in this set
I have this kit and it’s great
I didn't realize that Doctor strange was the wrong one.
I don’t know about this one! But I do like all three spider men.
I'd like to point out that Ned's figure is completely wrong he never wore that jacket at all
After Lego spoiled Giant Man being in Civil War I’m glad Marvel and Disney stopped giving them major spoilers for their movies. I rather wait a year to get a set than have a cool surprise ruined
For me this set fell short in potential... It has potential, it was a nice idea but the execution was quite meh and incomplete! 😶
That unmasked Tom holland looks more like jake gyllenhaal
Huge miss not having Lizard or Sandman properly represented in minifig form, but the rest of the set is pretty solid.
Definitely would prefer to have it around $20 cheaper for the build though.
This set is soooooo close to being perfect, there's just a big "lizard-shaped" hole in it..
Green Goblin reminds me more of the James Franco version more so than the William Dafoe version. And I don't know why Doc Ock reminds me a lot of Harry Potter from his face. Andrew's The GOAT!!! Hoping for TASM3 with Tom Hardy's Venom!
All I want is a green goblin figure with his actual mask like the sets for the original Sam rami Spiderman films
This set is missing 10 figures
This set should have Lizard and Sandman instead of two borring humans.
You mean instead of two of the movie’s main characters?
I mean... do they really do anything?
This set looks busy and not very iconic. From a distance it’s not easy to get what it is.
I really don't like this set's box art, the way it's just floating there feels very amateurish
It looks incomplete in a way
Well, at least we get some nice consistency. The set is definitely as bad as the movie.
