Campenaerts looks like the 19th century men who rode the first bicycles, the ones with the huge front wheel...
Grt comment mate. I was thinking he reminds me of something
Totally! The Penny Farthing! Tangentially, there’s an amazing little film free on V*meo called “the rider and the wolf” about bike builder (and Penny Farthing builder & racer) Mike Rust.
Totally agree with you
A classic cyclist…
@@sergiodemichele6295 im actually looking at him and thinking, yeah, im gonna go for that look. Its cool. Then I realise girls probably don't dig Penny Farthing riders
The man who deserves the most won. How can you not love Campy ❤
It was brilliant wasn't it.
Won Combativity awards on last year's 18th and 19th stages (Asgreen's and Mohoric's, with that legendary Mohoric interview about how many amazing riders deserve stage wins), plus the overall Combativity award. And then finally gets his career achievement moment a year later.
I am so happy for Victor. As a TT guy I’ve been following him for years and love all his aero research, tips and tricks and his overall aggressive riding style.
said this exact thing to a buddy today after the W, been pumped on this guy for this year, great to see him get a massive win.
He put TT tires on his wheel for this stage. Marginal gains matter for these guys, even if it's just psychologically
That picture of him cheering after his win is peak. Never seen anyone so happy with a win, that interview too. Actually so happy for him
Reminded me of Alison Jackson's expression when she won the 2023 Paris Roubaix. Exhaustion, shock, elation, confusion - just a thermonuclear bomb of emotion.
If I had a nickel every time the winner of a third week Tour breakaway stage gives the by far best interview of the year I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
Wouldn’t surprise me if you get a third next year - everyone must be so exhausted at this point that it just all pours out during the interview, particularly for the riders who aren’t often rewarded for their efforts.
We've had some epic ones in recent years. Sam Bennett in 2020, Lampaert in 2022, Mohoric in 2023 and now Campenaerts in 2024.
It will take a lot to beat the Mahoric interview.. that was epic
...now you have a dime!!!
This tour has had some great stories. Cav taking Eddys record, Girmay practically sewing up green, Bardet getting yellow, Carapaz getting a stage and yellow, pogi and Jonas going toe to toe, the rise of Remco. A tour for the ages!
Agree with most of it except that Pogi and Jonas went toe to toe last year. This year Pogacar seems way too strong
This has been a great tour. Pog has the GC solid, but the race has given us so much
What an amazing TdF. Bardet gets a yellow, great GC podium fights, Girmay smashing it, and now Campy with the win. Sure every rider in this race works incredibly hard throughout, most of the time to get little or nothing in return, but I'm so happy to see Bardet and Campy get their reward for being amazing riders.
Don't forget Cav!
@@MattJuden How could I? That was the best part!
And Carapaz yesterday! Another rider who is there everyday giving 100% like Victor.
Honestly how can you not see the respect from the young riders allowing the og’s to shine. Pogi and go ahead I’ll let ya cook.
There could not be a more deserving rider to win that stage. Standup guy and what a hard worker. The guy does everything under the sun to optimize body, mind and bike 🫡
Mahoric's interview and now Campy's. TdF interview getting more and more emotional. I love these guys! They deserve all the love
Yeah those are emotions of pure class of athletes.
And remember who won the Combativity award the day Mohoric beat Asgreen on the line.
Victor Campenaerts. Almost the exact thing Mohoric was talking about when he said so many riders deserve stage wins.
@@luckyspurs It's all coming together
Chapeau Victor on that sprint! So good to see him win
My man Victor Campenaerts is absolute class. So happy for him.
Yeah, I want to see Chris Horner's video now, haha.
Yay for Campy, got those dad watts 🎉
I teared up a little watching that interview. What a guy.
Since I’ve been watching cycling, I’ve always seen campy in the break, just cooking, or bringing the peloton back… never saw him win. Was sooooo excited to see it finally happen!
Brilliant win! Thank you, LR for highlighting the post-stage winner's interview. In some ways, despite all the marginal gains, cycling remains an impenetrable, conservative sport, its structures the overlay of years and years of embedded heritage and fine margins. Like Matej Mohoric's emotional outlay, last year, it is exceptional to hear a rider break out of strict team hierarchy and express himself freely and passionately, untethered from a team's PR: a needy reminder that our sport is not a sport of automatons but living, breathing, suffering human beings.
So glad Campenaerts was rewarded for the amazing work he has been doing. Can't wait to see what this guy does at Visma
Remembering what he gave of himself to try and get Eenkhoorn the stage win on last year's stage 18 and keep Philipsen away.
Then the next day him and Simon Clarke attacking the breakaway 59km out. One of the true "that guy deserved a TdF stage win in his career" guys in the sport.
Always loved this guy's riding style and interviews, but this tops them all. Such genuine happiness and relief pouring out of him, it must be a tough old sport sometimes especially for riders at the fringes.
VC’s interview at the end tremendous. Video of him FaceTiming his son so awesome too.
We’re just three too many Jasper Phillipsen wins from a perfect tour this year.
😂😂😂 boy were you optimistic
imagine hating a person you dont know that much
Three Jasper Phillipsen wins more than a perfect tour*???
@@thomy2562 The name "Jasper Phillipsen" tells you enough, pathetic rider and that's all there is to know.
@@thomy2562 bro hes just been a dangerous rider recently its kinda rough and he's had some really controversial moves, not really hard to see why, he could have easily cause some major crashes in this year's as well as last's tour
Been a Kwiato fan since 2013 so I was pulling for him, but super happy for Campenaerts to win. Always up there, at the front of breakaways just drilling it (the reason the breakaway with Asgreen last year beat the sprinters). So deserving of this!
Mee too :) I think Kwiato helped a lot by covering that last attack so Victor could follow and sprint from 3rd position
Agreed. Kwiato's done the most of the job in this breakaway (taking 2 km long pulls and taking over again after 0.5km) and had no answer for Campenaerts during the sprint, but I'm happy for Campenaerts. Dude played it brilliantly tactically.
@@TrykusMykus Usually it's Campenaerts burying himself and costing himself in the end. Big Kwiatkowski fan too but this one time, I wanted Victor to win.
Love that he even admitted he played it a bit sneaky for once, playing up tiredness when it came to not pulling at the front as often. If ever there was a guy who deserved one time holding it back for the finish.
couldn't be happier for any sportsman. years of graft and hard work. just reward for a classic man. chapeaux from Wales.
His kind words for the team after a clearly upsetting treatment are a measure of the man.
there was more to this interview, i think he was distinguishing between praising his fellow teammates as in the other riders (maybe his DS & soigneurs etc for this tour too, not sure) and in calling out the poor management of his bosses
Vocsnor is an amazing guy. Fantastic cyclist, great personality. His RUclips videos are very interesting. As he said in one of his videos: he might not be the most talented rider, but for sure one of the most hard working pros in the peloton. He strictly follows his training schedules and is very focused. But also very humble and with a good sense of humour. Love the interview.
Campanaerts what a rider such a classy rouleur. Him and De Gendt are two of my favourites, fantastic rouleurs who love to race.
I am a Kwiato fan as a fellow Pole, but I was super happy for Victor -- he always turns himself inside out working for his leaders (last year's TdF stage won by Mohoric springs to mind) and he is one of those guys who is always keen to improve on the tech front, while also being quite candid and open about it.
Love this chap and have been willing him to win some day. Very happy 4u Victor 🎉
I’m not crying 😭
You are crying! 😭
Neither am I!
So happy Victor finally won a stage. I love that dude. Absolute beast on the bike, underrated, amazing team player, and you can tell he's a great person too.
Edit: Great to see Carapaz and Victor get their stage wins finally. Both the most deserving riders this year imo.
Everone love Campy, I was screaming at the TV the last 100 meters, Interesting how he threw the team management under the bus, now it's their loss and Visma's gain that he is leaving at the end of the year.
Bravo a lui ! from France. His story with struggling to get a good contract with a baby en route is moving. Seeing him happy is really great, so well deserved.
Spoken to quite a few people now, not a single one wasn't rooting for Vic! Bloody brilliant.
Dude that look as he came across was epic. The smile and surprise! Totally Campanearts moment! Excellent.
Congrats Victor! Your efforts and trainings were rewarded today and you made your family proud, I'm sure of that.
Download this video and watch it 18 years from now with your kid!
Chapeau!
Awesome rider who has such a smooth yet tremendously powerful style. Chapeau to Victor well deserved 👏💪💪
No idea why your channel isn’t being pushed. I search for you every day for highlights yet RUclips doesn’t catch on.
Liking and commenting to hopefully help.
Ride on!
strange. i'm subbed and the algorithm knows each day i'll want to watch the next stage highlights vid so suggests them to me before ive had a chance to go directly to his channel. i guess youre also already subbed, so perhaps notifications set to fully on and youll get pinged when he uploads, but i take the wider point you mean about pushed to all not just yourself.
@@ManWalksDogs so coincidentally just logged on and boom first video was Lantern rouge but that maybe because I showed interest by commenting here? Who knows.. il
ring the bell… all helps
Blue skies. What a brilliant way to sum up fatherhood! I can understand his sentiment even when I'm not a father. Congrats to him on some great tactical racing today!
The most deserved WIN on the Tour de France ............talented or not, you have to work so.......so hard for it.....and the interview says it all!
A lovely guy, hard worker, and a competitive, solid racer. Chapeau!
"I'm not crying - you're crying." Heartfelt interview with Campanaerts has me all verklempt. Good on him.
I couldn’t be any happier with victor 🎉🙌🏼 congrats to him he really deserves this win
Chapeau Victor!!! You DESERVE this!!! Congrats on the birth of your daughter and the contract.
What a heart warming interview. Every cycle racing fan loves Victor Campanaerts. Hes an awesome athlete, and I wish him all the best for his future as an athlete and as a father.
It's a Long Way to the Top, If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll and Win the Tour Stage! Can't imagine the blood sweat and tears!! Congrats Victor and the Team!!!
Finaly a stage for Victor ❤ he deserves more recognition 😍congrats V👍🏻🤘❤️
Bravo Victor, can tell it means the world to him
I was delighted for Victor today - a hugely likeable guy.
So so happy for him! Well deserved man! Let's goo!
WOW! Thank you for showing so much of the interview. What a race and day.
there was more of it, hopefully clipped in full by the tour themselves...
What a wonderful show of vulnerability. Great watch
It's no Matej Mohoric, but as a new father myself this spoke to me. So happy for him, a big name and a great rider to watch!
He really deserved that win
In short - awesome on a bike, great tache, and a baby making machine. Top bloke!
Well done victor , by pure coincidence i watched a vid of Victor training at altitude for tdf with his wife and new born and i decided that must be really tough for the whoke family 💪
Big motor. Bigger heart.
Dude has been battling and came through with a brilliant win. Very nice to see.
Thanks for really understanding the real highlights of a stage. Post race interview included. Best recap videos in any sport
You know you're on the right chanel when you hear "chasse-patate" on the résumé
its making me hungry thinking about chasing potatoes and i even had chips for tea tonight...
😴💭🥔🥔🥔
Made my heart happy❤
Wow! Perfect tactics at the end!!!
I watched the whole stage live. He actually played extremely smart the entire race, lots of stuff obviously didn't make it into the video since he has to condense everything in 8 minutes.
Campy, for the 'Record' will celebrate and sing in a . . . 'Chorus'?
Campy is the best! Campy for president! 🎊 🎉❤
Maaaa Maaaaan Victoooor Caaaampenaaaarts
Chris Horner will be the second happiest man in cycling today.
🦋👊
Goosebumps Mr. Campenaerts, goosebumps! Truly inspiring stuff! TY
When riders go for KOM points despite the fact they can´t take the polka dot jersey anymore, it's probably for the money, for the team staff.
Lazkano, Carapaz and even Gaudu still have a chance to get the polka dot jersey. 60 points for the first two climbs tomorrow, 25 for the first three climbs Saturday, and only 10 pts for each finish (plus 5 pts in the TT). They are 36/40/47 points behind respectively. Presuming Pogi takes the 25 points for the finishes he's at 102... they'd still have to get in the breakaway the next two days so not easy but definitely possible.
Damn, these onions in my sandwich are powerful today!
Great speech "My Man"!
Congratulations! Even the advertisement-banner was moved by his speech.😂
I love Campy. What a real dude.
Our whole family got a moustache to celebrate 🥳
👃🐛👄
crying on my chesterfield
“MY MAN, Victor Campenaerts!” - Chris Horner
great job Victor! a real professional!
The 2nd most happy guy will be Chris Horner. I'm so looking forward to his video today. A huge congrats to Victor and his family and his team. Bravo!
Anyone still watching that muppet? He's insufferably nauseating.
So well deserved Victor!
The tour is make meaningful by legends like Victor’s. Life’s everyday story of ups and downs and how determination WINS! Bravo Victor! We love you❤
A few years ago, people thought that Campenaerts was weird for using big chain rings and narrow handlebars etc. Now they're all doing it.
I want to hug him.
Imagine his power output to get his hr record body to be in that break.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. He's way more muscular than anyone else he is matching and riding with. His power output must be insane.
it has to be the mustache. he looked so happy great to see
My Man!!!!
Bravo Victor!!!
HOW GOOD HAS THIS RACE BEEN?? WOW!! Let me just say that I LOVE the changes that they've made to this year's race. This is the best tour I can remember in a good long while!
Great for him!!
Hold the Wheel deeeekhead!!! 😂😂🎉🎉
I understood this reference😂
My Man Campanaert 👏👏👏
The chris horner effect is in full play MMVC!!!!
My man Vic is gonna get lit up tonight 🎉
2nd most emotional. Nothing tops Matej Mahoric's interview last year after his stage win.
Did you pay attention to the “this year” part?😂
@@tonyg3091 Reading before reacting? on 2024's internet?! Don't be silly!
It's amazing how this sport will strip away any bravado or pretense from some of the hardest men on the planet. My favorite winner's meltdown was Sonny Colbrelli's 2021 Paris Roubaix win. Primal.
Couldn't be happier for him! Best post race interview ever! 🥲
Campy's diy waxing finally pays off.
That's my man Victor Campenaerts!
Why did we have a nice seaside shot while the race was kicking off?
Sometimes the broadcasters are perfectly bad.
Then you add SBS cutting coverage for a half baked (see what I did there) cooking segment.
I’d love to see the numbers on the people who are sitting through a cycling race for a 30 second seaside clip or a 5 min bogus cooking lesson.
What are they trying to do? Just cater to the people who are actually consuming your product.
tbf to itv4 they're normally on the money for when they cut to ad breaks and when they let the race unfold without interruptions; all those sort of segments normally get rolled out early in the coverage before key climbs etc, usually when the B-team are on comms and the A-team are having their lunch break.
One of the best stage winner interviews ever!!!
I couldn’t believe when I saw Campy launch like a rocket in the sprint. He was not accepting 2nd on the day!
Best episode of LR ever. This is what sports are about.
So happy for Campenaerts and team! 🎉
Anyone else craving peanut M&Ms after this stage?
haha yes, saw the slow-mo replay of the big bag getting handed around the peloton!!💛🥜🥜🥜😋
so hard and deserved win I hope other guys make it also. Hard to be a pro to have a contract and to ride with the best ❤
I am so happy for Campenaerts. What a cool dude.
Loved the interview. Very touching. Not quite as moving as Mhoric’s interview last year, or Jonas after he won a stage this year, but it’s up there
this tour de france has been a blessing for the human soul
