Ahhhh brings back memories .......... Was stationed there in 88-91 what a great assignment as a firefighter, probably one of the few places I had as much fun on base as off. Was thinking how many of you guys we had to pull out of the double barriers when you would slam them, and how Steeple Aston would complain about the F111's ripping over their houses, lol. Upper Heyford we miss you
Have lived in Bletchington all my life and used to cycle to the base to watch the planes takeoff and land. Best wishes to our closest friends from the US,a relationship that many try and destroy but never will. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
My Dad was stationed there in 1970 to 1974. I went to school on the base, grades 6 through 9. I STILL consider beautiful England as my second home. We love you too, mate. Cheers from a friend across the Pond.
My uncle was Major Mike McGuire who sadly died in a crash a month before this footage was taken. The pilot at the time of the mishap was Captain Jerry Lindh of the 55th Fighter Squadron. Did you know these two men?
Thank you! Always great to see 111 videos. I was with SAC 380th AMS at PAFB, NY.
20th AMS Comm/Nav/Pen Aids Flightline troop 77 to 79, loved Upper Heyford. Miss the place and most of the people, but really miss those 111's.
This is so cool ! I live up the road from heyford wish it was still in operation.

tom Smith Tom. Did you know another firefighter at USAF Upper Heyford called Pokey?
I was assigned at the crash station from around 1981-1982.
I was a fireman stationed there Oct ‘84 to Oct ‘87 - great memories
I was at steeple aston school at the time, I loved the jets flying over as a child. Thank you for everything you did.
@@MrSkyskooter doesn't ring a bell, maybe a "B" shift guy, I was on A shift

Yes they were squadron mates and both good men.
Drove down the runway today in my van turned onto 27 end and across the piano keys it’s so sad watching this video.
Such a brilliant aircraft
Greatly missed 😔
My dad was stationed here. Do u have anymore video of the housing and base
Looks like someone didn't push the ladder holder/step into its retracted position. Look close at the zoom in at the very end.
Step peg.
Taken a few days before I was born. Weird.
Great! Are you a WSO ?
weapon systome officer.
As the old saying goes...
Never ask anyone if they're a fighter pilot.
If they are, they'll tell you.
If they aren't, why embarrass them?
@@dahawk8574 Yes, looks like.
