Just shareing what Sri Sathya Sai Baba had written in his Rama Katha Rasa VAhini (2 vols) about Blessed Queen Kaikeyi. As usually discussed in the epic / literature, Ma Kaikeyi is not a woman of weak mind to be swayed by the evil sermon of a senior servant (who came with her from her kingodm after marriage with Emperor Dasaratha). Swami sai says that thre was an unknown mystery in the episode where the Queen insists on a most fatalist boon knowing that it would cost her and the kingdom more pain than any pleasre. Her dear Ram once confided in the step mother, " ma I want you help regarding my plan for the future for which I bad taken a birth...: and explains how he has a job to meet the blessed saints in the forests and destroy the powerful demon clans unleashing terror among the pious He also warns that her demand for the throne for her son would cast great hate on her besides damage to the throne itself, still she should help in his divine plan. So the Queen pretended to be swayed by the sermons of a servant who spoke in utter ignorance of it would mean to harm her mistress. Similarly Swami Sai also dismissed the story that Princess Droupadi laughed at the slip of Prince Duryodhan in the illusory tank within her palace.. She was a woman born from fire and highly virtual and well groomed in the etiquiette in the royal platform. Only her servant maids laughted at the fall of the Pricne while the Princess was just coming into the balcony after a shower, wiping her head with towel and asked the girls what was the fun about while herself laughting expecting a humour (not at Duryodhan) when they pointed out to the floor below, she turned her head down still laughting not knowing she would see the royal Guest there. BY then Duryodhan saw her unintended laught and left with a rage. So our epics are strewn with mysteries that changed the tides of the then history told in the epics
