My day is made! Awesome video! I love pausing and reading the old newspaper articles and viewing the old post mortem pics. Old West history is so interesting, good or bad, it's part of our country.
Never seen such a strange layout before, very interesting. Gorgeous views. Makes you wonder if Kid Curry didn’t have that first couple disputes, would it have gone as far as it did. Btw a huge shame on you, to the ppl shooting the stones and markers. Better think about Karma. Sorry about your toe Sarah ! I also been missing your videos…no pressure lol. Thanks again !
It is shameful that people do stuff like that and they don't think about it. I don't understand that and I don't think I ever will. Thank you for watching Linda!
Great video! I can just smell the pines and loved the views. Kid Curry story was quite interesting. Definitely makes me want to go back to Colorado to visit this historical place.
I just love the way you tell stories after you find the grave. Kid curry was amazing as a common outlaw. Crazy cowboy and indian times in the 1800's. I also agree that shooting a gravestone is not right. Just leave it alone. I wish always that people would just leave people alone too. There is so much violence against people for no reason.
The ambiance of that area gives you the feeling of the old west. I've always loved that area. And I'm always fascinated with the fencing around the plots. I wonder if it's the family's way of protecting their own or a display of affluence with the more elaborate ones. Great video sir.
It really does have that old west feel and especially so with the mountains and lack of vegetation. That's a little drier area with not the best soil conditions and then you have a ton of traffic. I imagine the fences are for both of the reasons you mentioned. There are a lot of Elk in the areas as well as pronghorn and rams. They could all do damage to the markers. Thank you for watching Sheila!

Hey Rhett, Kid was on the run most of his life. I remember growing up in Utah, that he was a member of the Sundance gang and that he had a very bad reputation. He was, as you mentioned, all over the Western states of Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. Very notorious and infamous. Thank you my friend. Love these videos.
He certainly reeked havoc all over the place. I think he's one of the worst of the old west outlaws. It's incredible to think about the money they were getting from from train robberies.
Such a beautiful place to be laid to rest. Just perfect! I absolutely love hearing about the bad guys of the Old West! O'Day was a rough looking character. Seeing that you are a huge fan of iron fences and gates if you can make a trip down to Natchez, Ms do so.. The old Natchez City cemetery has one of the largest number of fences I've seen in one cemetery plus a cast iron mausoleum!
@Rhetty for History you sure wouldn't be disappointed. I took a ton of photos when I visited.. Southern cemeteries lean toward plots with fences or what is called cradle graves.
I remember walking up to Doc Holiday’s grave when I was a kid. We used to spend time camping around Glenwood and swimming in the huge swimming pool fed by the hot springs. Good memories.
Rhett, I really enjoyed your Old West video about outlaw, Kid Curry. It was very interesting to hear about his background and the gangs that he belonged to. Enjoyed, the overall visit to this cemetery and finding out about some of the other people who's buried there, too. Hope, Sarah's toe mended quickly. Great investigating, presentation and photos, too. Have a fantastic week. Take care 🐎
Thank you for joining us on this little cemetery visit. Sarah's toe is as good as she will ever get it. The official term the Doctors used for it was "smooshed." It's healed but she cannot bend her big toe at all.
Thanks Rhetty! This cemetery really FEELS like "old west" - or what I imagine it was like. I can think of worse places to rest in peace.. The scenery with the surrounding mountains is really beautiful. Rest in Peace, Doc Holiday and Kid Curry.

Another great video Rhetty love watching your channel. Hope yall brought plenty of water to drink. I bought a book about Butch Cassidy and The Wild Bunch here recently but am currently reading a book on Doc Holliday. I read once where they called Kid Curry The Wildest of The Wild Bunch. I often wondered how him and Butch Cassidy got along since Butch Cassidy was never one for violence while Kid Curry didn't hesitate to shoot people.
I'm sure Kid Curry had trouble getting along with most everyone. Has to be a reason why he would join up with them and split. Same with joining Ketchum. They were all rough men though. Thank you for watching my friend!

I'm sure he has had multiple monuments. I know Doc has had at least three judging by the photos I found. I'm sure they had mules bringing those things up there. Thank you for watching!
So I live outside of St John's Arizona almost into New Mexico about 20 mile dirt road drive, and I can tell you even in this century if you want to get away and melt into the landscape this is the place to do it. It had to be grueling to ride horseback into this area its rugged and even now the roads are terrible and lonely I can only imagine a stagecoach ride, yikes. Concho Arizona is just to the west of us and this area still has many old Adobe houses from that time period standing to this day. This is a tough place now can only imagine then. Thank you for the very informative video.
Wow, those Adobe houses sound interesting. I had no idea things like that were still standing. How old do you think those are? Thank you for watching Randall.
So disrespectful that someone would get joy out of shooting at a gravemarker. Very interesting cemetery though. There must be a wider trail to go up there as having to carry a casket would be quite a chore. I can't imagine being a pall bearer
Yeah I'm sure that a horse or mule pulled it up that trail. It the only way up there from what I could see. It's certainly rugged terrain. I agree with you on the shooting of markers. I hate to see something like that. Thank you for watching Harry!

About the only state in the U.S. that takes care of its cemeteries is Hawaii. I've seen abandoned ones worse than this in about every state. This one is not abandoned by any means. Thank you for watching!
I don’t think Harvey Logan was a bad man, but he could be deadly if need be. Some researchers think Butch really wanted Harvey to go to South America with him but he declined. I can’t help but feel that they both would have lived longer if he had. Nothing against Sundance but his loose lips after drinking got Butch into trouble he didn’t need. This cemetery is really beautiful and natural. Thanks for the cool tour!
Ouch! I hope your toe gets to feeling better soon. Did they tell you to soak it in warm Epson salt? Sarah's toe is permenantly damaged. She can't bend it. The official medical term was "smooshed." She dropped a 45lb plate on it. Thank you for watching Brenda!
Let me be the first to contradict Pinkerton in his statement on Kid Curry about having no redeeming value. Either he (or one of his co-horts in crime) before blowing up a express car on the train, let a Dog get away so he wouldn't be hurt or killed. There's something to say about that. He may not have meant much to a human after all that he did, but he meant the world to that Dog. Rest in Peace all who are resting there.
I think killing some humans may cancel that out though. I do have to wonder what he was willing to kill, human or animal. Especially if it meant he could get away.
Jeff from History Hunters, was in L.A. looking for Wyatt Earp house according to a article in the L.A. Times that mentioned a marker, however, the city of Los Angeles decided they wouldn’t because Earp was a gang member, such idiocy. Thank u Rhetty and Sarah.
I'm not going to say it wasn't for the reasons they may have stated. He did have some Outlaw ways and the shootout in the OK Coral was questionable. I haven't read the article either but I do believe the historical marker just simply being stolen is more plausible. At that point no one wants to pay money only to have it happen again. Just my two cents on it but I have see it happen before.
I didn’t know anything about Kid Curry, thanks for the lesson Rhett 😃 I hope Sarah’s toe heels up soon, it seems to be taking a while. I guess it would when you have to walk on it every day. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺
She hurt it about a year ago but this was filmed in June. He toe has permenant damage. She cannot bend it. The official medical tern used when they did the x-ray on it was "smooshed." Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistory so this was filmed 9 moths ago? So how is Sarah feeling now? My daughter has never injured her toes yet her pinkies don’t bend. They are as stiff as a board.
I've had a lot of broken toes but she really did a number on it. A 45lb plate fell on her toe in the gym and completely crushed it. It took a long time to heal into what it is now. But the joint on the big toe does not move at all. The joint going to the foot moves a little. But yes this was filmed last June. I still have some other things from the trip as well. I really fell behind trying to work full time, activities with kids and do youtube.
Excellent video as usual! When it comes to bears, you only have to be faster than the last person. I can't see you leaving Sarah behind though! Kid Curry was a piece of work, and his crimes caught up to him eventually. 👍👋
No I wouldn't leave her. Most of the time they run away. At least in my experience. Kid Curry was one bad man. He caused damage all over the country. Thank you for watching!
John Meadows: I never thought of Kid Curry the partner of Hannibal Heyes was meant to be the same as KC of The Wild Bunch. He even had a different first name if I recall,& his background was dissimilar. But maybe I was wrong. That show might have continued even after Pete's tragic death, had Roger had a different character.Maybe a cousin of Heyes,or something. As it was,as someone said "The program died with it's star"RIP Pete.
@@RhettyforHistory Are you likely to go to the graves of the Younger boys,Frank & Jess?I would love to be able to & lay flowers. For Jim & Zee especially.May they all RIP.
I really don't believe it is the state nor the city's responsibility to take care of cemeteries. However, the Glenwood Springs Historical Society and the City of Glenwood both help to maintain and care for this cemetery. Overall I think they do a pretty good job in doing so. It is a large cemetery with a ton of foot traffic. Every so often they do trim things back but at the same time they have tried to keep it more in q natural state that is good for not eroding the land on the side of the mountain. They also regularly fund the monuments for replacements, provide news signs, flags etc. It's a different area than what you might see somewhere else. We have to keep that in mind. As far as trimming back on some of the monuments that's really up to every day citizens to help pitch in no matter where that cemetery is at. As you can see from the first video it is no easy trek up there. So the challenge is, how do you get the youth involved? Other than an occasional Eagle Scout project or something similar the youth is generally not concerned with cemeteries. That includes my daughters. I hope this helps some. Thank you for watching Donna!
@@RhettyforHistory You know Rhett, whenever I saw a picture of him with the other outlaws, I thought he was just a "harmless" bankrobber. your video actually shocked me in that he was a cold blooded killer and was one of the meanest outlaws in the Old West
I also love the photograph of Harvey trying his best to convince the law he was nothing more than a drunken tramp and not the notorious Kid Curry. We don’t have many humorous pictures from that time so that one is great! I love that quote in the newspaper article about the bandits moving the dog so he wouldn’t be killed. Butch’s gang did some bad stuff, but I don’t think they were anywhere the monsters the press made them out to be.💜
That McPherson grave the death date of 1899? That's when my paternal grandfather was born. The interesting thing is that dad's dad was born in the last year of the 19th century, and mom's dad was born in 1900. So I've got 19th and early 20th century in me on both sides. And when history is concerned is that we're born in one century and pass in another and the history we see ends up in history books. But we can say we were there when it happened.
Spent one night in there, sharing a bottle of Gin with Doc's spirit. Spent the night raising a glass to Doc, showed no disrespect. Then one night in jail😃 some memories you never forget. Great job my friend.
And if you're wondering what the stones are on top of the tombstones, I was told by my parents that the stones keep the spirits from walking around from that grave. You'll find that on Jewish graves like you noted. I guess we like to keep settled and not wander around but why it prevents the spirit from wandering around with rocks on the tombstone it I was never told that history.
There is also Big Nose George. The one that had the shoes made out of his skin that I did a video on. I have noticed a lot of people use his photo as flat nose which is clearly wrong. Thank you for watching Victoria!
Does anyone know if they had a set burial depth or laws of buriel back then, because I've seen some very shallow graves in history docs even above ground just covered with a mound of dirt and even rocks probably due to time energy, frozen ground even risk of dying if the survivors wasted time n energy digging a grave when their own lifes were at risk.
I don't think there was necessarily a law or standard back then. The permafrost also had a bearing on some of those depths in this cemetery or others in places like it.
I lived in a group home in the late 70's where there was a cemetery with people in from the 1700's and we all went there at night. Some of the others wanted to do pencil rubbings of the old tombstones. I told them they're not alone and spirits were wandering and they laughed. Well I had the last laugh when the others ran out screaming in terror.
@@RhettyforHistory you're welcome. I had a couple scary encounters in a cemetery during the day. Will never go back. Being a sensitive has it's drawbacks.
Good video . I just want to say that there is controversy over that actually being Harvey Logan aka Kid Curry that is buried there. I'm sure, and I'm not alone, that Kid Curry lived decades longer. I have a source that it's Matt Brady that is buried there. But Matt Brady may also be an alias.
Rhetty, That has to be one of the most interesting Old West Cemeteries I've ever seen. What an interesting location. Why on Earth would anyone shoot at the graves, it's got to be brainless Kids, sorry if I've insulted them... NOT! Cheers, Rik Spector That Schwartz grave was more likely German tah Jewish.
It does sound German and I had a friend with the same last name and he was German. Perhaps someone placed rocks on them thinking they were Jewish. I definitely don't understand shooting at the markers. What an expensive thing to fix. Thank you for watching!
Perpetual care is not something necessarily guaranteed at any cemetery anywhere. VA cemeteries might be the closest to that. The others will eventually run out of room which means funds will then be a challenge. Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistory you have to request it. When dad died mom requested it. And when they stopped I reminded them and they resumed perpetual care. Perpetual care is removing weeds and mowing grass. Well at least that was where my parents are buried.

Great video
It's a little longer one but I appreciate you watching all of it.

I can’t believe the state is not taking better care of the cemetery
Maybe the bears plans are to wait until you are tired from the hike up? Thank you for covering both of these historic men that shaped our Wild West.
You're welcome and thank you for watching both the episodes. I'm glad we didn't see any bears.
Another good tour, thanks!
You're welcome and thank you for watching!
Thank you
You're welcome and thank you for watching!
This guy definitely needs his own movie. If they haven’t already
Thank you for watching One Time!
one of my ancestors is buried at that same place! this is so cool
Thank you for watching Diddy420!
Cool😎 I'm sorry to hear that Sara has a sore toe. I'm dealing with an infected ingrown toenail myself, very painful🙀 Hope she feels better soon💜
Ouch! I hope your toe gets to feeling better soon. Did they tell you to soak it in warm Epson salt? Sarah's toe is permenantly damaged. She can't bend it. The official medical term was "smooshed." She dropped a 45lb plate on it. Thank you for watching Brenda!
@@RhettyforHistory Yes, I've been soaking it. I see the Dr tomorrow afternoon. Ouch, so sorry about that. Yikes🙀
One mean dude.
He sure was. Thank you for watching Joseph!
I saw the episode. I just figured a souvenir hunter took it. It's very common for the famous outlaws and lawmen. Thank you for watching Nadia!
@@RhettyforHistory My pleasure, stealing a plaque, anyway, I don’t believe anything from the L.A. Times 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t know anything about Kid Curry, thanks for the lesson Rhett 😃
I hope Sarah’s toe heels up soon, it seems to be taking a while.
The tv show, Alias Smith and Jones, portrayed him as an easy going man. I didn't realize he was so vicious.
Yes he was! He cause pain and damage all over the nation! We may never really know how much he did.
I have videos on all the ones you mentioned. They are in the old west playlist.
It's been long enough that he's probably Kid Curry powder, lol
Ha! I see what you did there. Thank you for watching!
K Morris:Ouch!I thought our Mikey's jokes were bad!
@@susanmccormick6022 That was pretty bad, wasn't it? 🤣🤣
I can’t believe the states not taking care of that cemetery. Do they not hv a historical society 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for watching Donna!
really enjoyed this outlaw history. never knew he was a real killer. thanks
I'm glad you enjoyed this and I appreciate you always watching and commenting. He really was a bad man. Imagine how many lives he ruined!
@@RhettyforHistory You know Rhett, whenever I saw a picture of him with the other outlaws, I thought he was just a "harmless" bankrobber. your video actually shocked me in that he was a cold blooded killer and was one of the meanest outlaws in the Old West
Yeah he really was. He certainly caused a lot of destruction in property and people's lives.
Butch’s gang did some bad stuff, but I don’t think they were anywhere the monsters the press made them out to be.💜
Rhett have you seen my glasses I can't see without them? I think I lost them somewhere near Kid Curry's grave but I'm not sure? Tom YQR Regina Canada
Haha! Could be yours! Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistory just kidding
It's beautiful out there.
Yes it is. Thank you for watching!
Good story good western 🎵
Thank you for watching Ramon!
I've never seen a cemetery like this before. Is it a Colorado thing?
Up on a hill like this? Not necessarily. I've seen it in other states as well. Thanks for watching!
Great to see his grave
You spent the night in the cemetery or the town?
@@RhettyforHistory In the cemetery, we weren't supposed to be there. But we all wanted to toast Doc ✔️
Thanks my friend ✔️
You're welcome
And if you're wondering what the stones are on top of the tombstones, I was told by my parents that the stones keep the spirits from walking around from that grave. You'll find that on Jewish graves like you noted. I guess we like to keep settled and not wander around but why it prevents the spirit from wandering around with rocks on the tombstone it I was never told that history.
Yeah that was actually Ben Kilpatrick in the center of that Fort Worth photo.
Yes it is. I didn't label it nor did I colorize it. The photo at the end has the names listed correctly.
Great video!Wonder if flat nose knew big nose Kate,,lol sorry little humor there,
😅
There is also Big Nose George. The one that had the shoes made out of his skin that I did a video on. I have noticed a lot of people use his photo as flat nose which is clearly wrong. Thank you for watching Victoria!
*_Kid Curry begins @_**_8:58_**_ for anyone else who was wondering when we were gonna get there. Not tryin to be rude ... jus sayin ..._*
I know a lot of people can get freaked out really easily. Cemeteries bring that out more for some reason. Thank you for watching!
There is a controversy on him and Doc Holliday both who have markers in this cemetery. Thank you for watching Joseph!
Sundance is on the left not in the middle
You're right about that. I did not colorize nor label that one. I should have checked it better.
@@RhettyforHistory Love your vids and thank you for all the effort you go to.
Yes, quite the cemetery 😉, a lot of times if they died in the winter they would hold the bodies in ice houses till the ground thawed.
So they must not have done that with Doc then since it was reported he was buried there.
I love cookies!
Thank you for watching.
Live by the sword (pistol), die by the sword (pistol)
That's pretty much what happened here. Thank you for watching!
Rhetty,
That has to be one of the most interesting
Old West Cemeteries I've ever seen.
What an interesting location.
Why on Earth would anyone shoot at the graves, it's got to be brainless Kids,
sorry if I've insulted them... NOT!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
That Schwartz grave was more likely German tah Jewish.
It does sound German and I had a friend with the same last name and he was German. Perhaps someone placed rocks on them thinking they were Jewish. I definitely don't understand shooting at the markers. What an expensive thing to fix. Thank you for watching!
It's such a shame that things have broken off or missing on tombstones and weeds. So much for perpetual care.
Never heard of kid curry
Have you heard of Butch Cassidy and the WIld Bunch? That's what he was a part of and he was in the infamous photo at the end.
This Pinkerton was a Mason group so things never add up with his story or I am sorry history
Thanks for watching Chris!
Nice video … btw, you can’t outrun a bear.
You're right. We were just sort of joking. Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistory ok, got it. I just don’t want a bear to eat you. Because then I won’t have anybody to make these awesome videos that you make, I really like them. Thanks.
Haha! I'll try my best to avoid them. Honestly I'm more worried about the wild hogs than bears.
Interesting some of these people alive to see Titanic sink
Yes they were. There was a lot of history going on in their lifetime. Thank you for watching!
