Thanks a lot for your recommending me to buy this gun! Got it today, installed a Talon grip and went to the range! Can’t believe how great it was to shoot. Super comfortable in the hand, amazing trigger, and really accurate. Best $480 dollars I’ve spend on a pistol. Thanks again!
Ya, I bought a DPM kit to replace my Shield's awful tin can lid recoil spring guide rod assembly, and I got a recoil kit for the old M9-A1 while I was looking at their page. Who would have thought you could double tap even faster with that point and shoot frame. I use the long spring even though it super sucks to put in, but those rods are awesome. That plastic guide rod was the big weak point, and those DPM kits are a solid, reliable, better than stock replacement.
I have a couple of questions about the Awesome stippling job you did on your Steyr M9-A1. Did you prep by sanding those areas? and what type of tools did you use? I want my OD Green M9-A1 to look similar. Thanks in advance!
That's funny it's one of the worst stippling jobs I've ever seen I actually never sanded anything and I used a soldering iron with a fine tip and just went to town on it
1776 Did you know that Steyr started making a rifle in 1864 then became a conglomerate making cars, buses, tanks, motorcyles, bicycles...heavy in transportation. Eventually sold off the firearms division....really like this company/gun.
1776 you are ...well your review is the reason I picked up this gun....one word...AWESOME!...great trigger...great ergos..and under 500 bucks!...yes sir...this gun just Rocks!
I was listening for a comment comparing the stock spring vs the DPM system. All reviews credit the stock springs with low recoil. Is there an obvious difference between he two? Thank You!
I've been considering the Steyr S9-A1 for my next conceal carry pistol, based on research and honestly, your reviews. I was also interested in the FNS-9 compact, handled one today and will go with the Steyr, $499 from my LGS.
Jeff Wilkins you made a great choice in my oppinion i have experience with both guns and I can not say anything bad about any FNH products my edc is my Steyr S9A1
There's really not much you can do there are some people who put that little metal piece in the front of the frame to reduce more recoil I don't think it's necessary I have a DPM recoil system in and I think that's enough I'll sell for night sights you don't have many choices I have big dots and you can also get the Trijicon tritium night sights I'd go for the tritium from Trijicon
I have a C9-A2. I was looking for the DPM system it and couldn't find it. Are you aware of one for the c9? Also just ordered the truglo tfx pro. Do you have any experience with those. What sight ls are you using.
Wish they made one for the c9. That's what I have. There's some things I really like about the gun and some things I don't. But it has incredible potential. I think an improved guide rod would be an awesome addition.
Someone else below made the comment they have not seen one bad review of the M9...and when I think about it...They are right!..I have not seen one review bad...maybe they aint all head over. Heels over the good but they never just hate it!.there is a reason for that!
I would like to see a range review. I'm trying to decide which one I'm gonna by next. And curious as to which one shoots best. lower recoil, the one you like best ect. Right now I'm leaning towards the Steyr pretty hard.
I’ve had the M9 A2 for a couple of months now and I really like it a lot , shots really flat and handles recoil great out of the box, I have shot the A1 and I feel that has a slightly better trigger than the A2, but it’s still above average as far as other stock striker fired pistols I feel it’s on par with the P-10 . I’m having trouble with the pyramid sights and just ordered a set of TFX Pros for mine once I get some more trigger time on it I’m going to put it in the home defense rotation and for that I definitely want night sights overall I’m very impressed with Steyr they make a great looking and shooting pistol
Just an update , I have yet to swap the Trapazoid sights out yet and now I’m not sure I want to , this is the best pistol I have ever shot and I seem to have figured the sights out. I shoot this better than any other pistol I own and it’s not even close. I had a Walther Q5 Match with an SRO on it that I recently sold and I get better groups with the Steyr. I love this Pistol!! Thanks for the info you give on this channel it has been invaluable.
Hi please tell me if it Is easy to rack without the dpm kit and if it Can eat the sellier and Bellot jhp 9 mm rounds.Someone said That it hurts the hands knuckle during use and That the trigger pinchs fingers.Maybe he got a bad one.Is it good for people with Small hands?Thanx very Much for your reply and the vidéo.
+Teeroo Sam I've had no issues it's going to depend on the spring that you use also the trigger doesn't bother my finger at all. The trigger safety is a very wide trigger safety and it recesses is all the way into the trigger shoe and my opinion is extremely comfortable
+Douglas thanks for watching this is one of the most underrated guns on the market I am noticing a little uptick with bigger gun channels who are now actually reviewing this just so you know I've owned this gun for almost a year now and it's amazing
Finally ordered a Steyr M9-A1 in OD Green today. I am going to have to take my Walther PPQ Navy, CZ P-10c, and Steyr M9-A1 to the range and put 50 rounds through each and see which I like best. I have shot my friend's HK VP9 and my other friend's Sig P320 and I like both but I feel that the CZ P10c and PPQ have better triggers IMO. The VP9 has great ergos and the P320 seems to have a little less take up on the trigger than my PPQ but I prefer the PPQ and CZ P10c over those. I have handled a Steyr M9-A1 before but never shot one. I am hoping that it is just as good or better than the PPQ and P10c.
+MrHolster mags are easy gunbroker even eBay has them....parts from what others have told me not too much aftermarket but you can get them through steyr
Hey 1776 or Bust I live in Seattle and I’m having trouble finding a steyr m9-a1 but I really want one. I know that in order for me to shoot one I’m going to have to just buy it. I don’t have problem I just want to make sure you love it enough for me to buy lol
I got one years ago...it's like my precious, I only shoot it when no one is looking...but if you are in the market for a $500 fast pointer, that gun is totally worth it. Then we will welcome you to the Steyr Shire....and stay the hell away from my precious.
Worth every penny and they are real cheap! Gunprime.com Ngoabuyersclub.com looking at 435.00-500.00 depends on the deals going on. Also Steyr has a 50.00 rebate if you buy by 12-31-17
A few thoughts... Thanks for showing this. I was waiting on your review of the guide rod. I think I may have to get one. I have to drop some XS sights on it too. I like them a lot on my PPS. Second, do you still have the S9? I'm considering that one too. Finally, I don't know what your thoughts are on other calibers, but I'm eyeing an M40 too. There's a company that's in the process of making 357 sig conversion barrels for that model, since the M357 is so rare. The more people interested, the better the cost will be.
+Q. Lawrence the xs sights are👍if I could do it over I might've gone with standard size dot though .....hmmmm what's the company ....you got me interested...i sold the s9 as I got rid of all my double stacks but I've been eyeing the L9

Nice overview. It seems Steyr pistols are the few guns that get no bad reviews . That says something in the gun people realm. Is that the stock recoil system? Also, is it the same in the C and S series? Nice range footage . It looks familiar ; MC needs some better lighting at different distances. Otherwise, nice range to shoot. I am getting the S9-A1 ...I am sold on them too.
+Private Private The trigger is a DAO - what Steyr calls “Reset Action”, which means that it is partially pre-cocked (about 72 percent) giving a shorter trigger pull with about 5.5-pound pull. I have no issues carrying but I also carry a PPQ which essentially is 100% precocked
I would love one but I'll never buy a gun with a lock on it -_-. I know it will probably never be an issue but I just can't get past it. If they made a version without the lock, I would be on it in a second.

Nice to see you found a pistol that seems to be made for you as right on...It looks nice and dig the color scheme...Good stuff...
Love that color green, wish more manufacturers used it.
Still not convinced on the guide rods but that's a damn good looking Steyr brother!

Steyr's are very hard to come by in my area and we have a ton of gun shops around here.I suppose ordering one is the only option.
+CWB1863 I understand that's what I went through however I just went with a leap of faith and I'm glad I did
I've been wondering about the DPM system, I've read good things about it in the P-01 that mirror your same experience in the Steyr M9
+Subgun Snake I think it's a good system just tssdt it thoroughly to make sure the spring is the right one

Issues with a CZ??? Say it isn't so! Haha! You kept the Steyr really flat and shot it well, nice work. Great color too.

mikunan some have had ejection issues I have never
mikunan yeah MC needs a lighting upgrade. It has a dpm system guide rod and spring
Sorry ,I should have realize that recoil system was an aftermarket set up, dual springs etc. It is good to see support from the market for steyr..
mikunan no worries and yes hopefully as these pistols become more popular we will see even more aftermarket support
they dont make springs guiderod for s9??? I bought one but i messed up and got M9
No unfortunately you're going to have to buy an M9 LOL
@@1776orbust I assume this would work fine on the M9-A@ as well?
Is the striker fully cocked when carrying? Fits my hand better than any other gun but I'm nervous about carrying it

Any modern striker fired gun will be. You just have to make that decision to trust your equipment and be 100% confident in it.
Sweet looking pistol!
Darn good shooting, can't wait to see the new L9
Paradox2311 the L9 should be sweet

Steyr bukkake just means your gun loves you.
Hey Bud, Any thoughts on the M&P 9mm Compact?
I think it's a real win for Smith, Glock 19 size with better ergos I have a full size on the way and if I like it enough a compact may follow
1776 or Bust Guns, Gear and all things related. As always Great Videos!
anthony caldi thanks much appreciated
interesting recoil looks super light!
Nice looking i might try one out i did pick up a Walther Q5 Match i love it!
+Keith Gregory man is love a q5
+Keith Gregory I'd love damn auto correct
Keith, the day I picked up my HK VP-9 Tactical off of layaway, my dealer got in a Walther Match, what a great trigger!
Yes sir the best!
Q5 and the regular PPQ both have the same exact triggers
You need Talon Grips grip cut out and BT Guide Rod Steyr internal upgrades.

I'd take those groups. Cent of mass time and time again.
Did your issues with the CZ start when you used the DPM system?
+James Rowe strangely enough I had tested it with the garage system in it with no issues for whatever reason it started however I went shooting today so I will be doing a follow-up
Ok. Im going to try the Styer and drop a set of Tru Glow sights on it.
CANNOT HAVE ONE OF THAT MUCH AS I WANT TO BECAUSE IT'S NOT ALLOWED IN CA..
Where would one get that DPM system?
tysonschrepel -Zahal.org has it. Its an Israeli tactical gear store. Really cool stuff but a tad pricey. Great selection though
Why do I feel like I've seen this before ? Can't find a Steyr anywhere locally and I don't want to drive 2 hrs to the one I found. The stipple job doesn't look bad, those triceps are looking pretty fucking saggy though lol 💪🏻
