Thank you guys, I listened to the social episode as well. Sam’s and Heath’s advice is greatly appreciated. I’ll jus start and will be glad to share with you.
So The Dark One is a parallel for a black hole, my guess is that previous age’s attempts to “drill” (into a different dimension I assume?) for True Power is a parallel to LHC and the search for a unified theory of everything or the underlying unifying force, right? Rand fulfilled a physicist’s power fantasy of defeating the ultimate boogey man of cosmology - the black hole btw.
Maybe the twist with Rand’s power is that it was all a dream?…jk Maybe he is fulfilling the Aiel proverb/prophecy, that life is a dream? He is dead and now his dreams are in the real world along with the dream power. Heath made an important observation that Rand is for some reason relieved that he can’t channel. In lieu of how the soul is connected to the power and the pattern, does that mean that he is now outside of the pattern? Presumably him still having his soul - the dragon reborn soul - would mean he would still have the power. Or does that mean that in accordance with Eastern Philosophy wisdom of how we live the same life again and again until we get it right (hence Rand’s epiphany in TGS), he finally got it right? So the pattern does not need the dragon reborn soul anymore. At least the pattern does not need a soul to have the dragon reborn power and destiny. That would also bring the finality to the whole series. Next age will have new challenges and other heroes. That’s why Rand is relieved he can’t channel. That is my final pitch.
Sanderson admitted several times that he didn’t know what to do with Mordeth and that he dropped the ball on that storyline. And let me tell ya… he definitely did. Also that “immune system” twist didn’t work for me at all.

“The light exploded from him” is Rand (Neo) “destroying” The Dark One’s corruption of the pattern (The Matrix) through Elan (Smith) lol.
It’s not until Heath said it out loud that I realized it’s More-death. Lol.
