As a kannadiga I wasn't even hyped for the movie as I clearly know only upendra's directorials are something to look out for and the movies he stars in other directors films are absolutely awful..

As a Kannadiga i have witnessed this since his first directoral debut Tarle nan Maga, Shh, OM, A, Upendra etc.. Now we cant even name one film which will stand next to that in list which he only stars. Direction is his strength, no denying that

Some people, who gonna defend this film and come up with the excuse that this script was written way before KGF, are simply fooling themselves, if they don't look at the way this film is even being executed as same as KGF!
The beats are almost identical just set in a different time frame. Even if it does not follow the same beats of the screenplay, so many motivations of the characters and the treatment of the screenplay with its choppy editing is attempt to mimic the same

From day 1 till this video, I believed its different. The 'violence' dialogue and a few other points he made me think otherwise.
Bro, the direction himself has told in many interviews that he was proudly inspired from KGF. But the output is not half as good as KGF.

Kabzaa is basically like where your friend lets you to look at his homework for reference and you end up copying the it which makes it look similar.
It just looks similar, nothing more and nothing less. What KGF did in terms of world building and a worthy antagonist in the form of Garuda is totally missing here

Another movie that makes me understand and respect the decision of Mahesh Babu who when asked about why he isn't making Pan-Indian films like the rest of his peers are caught up in, simply said, not every film is supposed to be Pan-Indian and would do a Pan-Indian film when and only the he feels the content is right despite having much wider acceptance across the country!

He is absolutely right when he said that movies need not always be pan Indian. It's better to make a movie because one has conviction in the storyline. If directors started making movies to cater to the palette of everyone in India then we would not have had a movie called Kantara. People loved it because they resonated with the storyline even thought the story was quintessentially a story of a particular region in India.

When they said "The Next big thing in Indian Cinema" In the promos, I knew it's either gonna be very good as the creators have so much confidence or it's overconfidence and it's gonna be a disaster. Turned out to be the latter... :(

Then Mungarumale in 2006 , lot of movies tried to replicate the tragic love story formula( some of them had great music) and now we have the kgf effect
It's probably in almost all the industries, we had Magadheera followed by Badrinath and iconic Shakti.

Today we 4 people went to the first show. The reason behind watching the first show was to avoid spoiler videos which will be uploaded on RUclips by Chapri youtubers. ( Eg : showing the thumbnail of important scenes of the movie ).
But after watching the movie we all directly went to Bar to forget the entire experience of what we got in theatre.
We are still alive. That's the best part.
Ravi Basrur has only one style and he’s really good at it i guess.
Even his bgm for Kisi Ka Bhai kisi ki jaan didn’t fit the vibe of the movie.
If you select ravi basrur you need to have a very specific genre in your mind.
Bholaa might be an exception though.
The trailers are also cut the same way. A rousing background score, fast paced jump cuts, for an ultimate sad alaap in the end!
Then what about Antim? He is giving same type of music only for South films but not for bollywood

Day by day, I can understand the difficulty of making a decent commercial film. It's more difficult than making an art film. Audience who downplay the role of directors like Ss raja sir, are straight out ignorant. People will appreciate him more and home as films like these come out. Glad to have commercial director like him, who's only taking Indian cinema to next level.

I follow one thing when movie trailers drop. Watch the precious works of the concerned party, see how the trailer looks and what it has to offer. R.Chandru has had a few good projects while the majority are forgettable. When the trailer dropped, I knew this would be the ultimate fate. The last minute announcement of Shivanna being in the movie with a "surprise" you can't miss on the big screen amidst Puneet Rajkumar bday hard hinting that the late actor has something to do with the movie was the final nail in the coffin for me🙏🙏
When the focus of the marketing becomes about the cameos and a dedication to a beloved actor that left us all rather than the story, it becomes slightly worrisome

Prashant did the black screen trick to save VFX budget in car chase and ship scene but he executed those very well
People really don't care about the budget they just need visuals as good as Hollywood . With the market we have and budget the film makers are doing such a great job to give such outputs.

That, & more than the budget, he didn't want Tonal Dissonance to show by the fact that there are Scorpios, Xenons, Endeavours, Pajeros, & Outlanders in a film set in Late 70's/Early 80's.
I think kannada cinema is mostly going for the kgf aesthetic for every one of their commerical films. Just look at homebale productions themselves.

In 1995, Upendra directed a blockbuster movie called "Om" starring Dr. Shivrajkumar ( which was later remade in Hindi as Arjun Pandit). After the humongous success of Om, a plethora of movies based on the similar story of "Om" were dished out for almost 15 years till early 2010s. I don't know about others but KFI has this thing to make the formula of an exceptional product. Hence no surprise if they butcher the Kgf formula as well.
Upendra is a true legend when he directs and acts. He has given the industry landmark movies. Maybe he should direct more. Please watch his directorial ventures like "A", "Upendra", "Swastik", "Sshhhhh", "Super", and "Uppi2".
I hope this does not go on for too long because i fear the same for Martin.

Kabza is a blessing in disguise. Hope Atleast now filmmakers give up the pan Indian rat race and concentrate on good scripts. If your movie is good enough it will be pan Indian (eg Kantara - made for a target audience of coastal Karnataka ended up winning hearts all over the country).
P.S. a week ago I'd never imagine a movie starring Kapil Sharma would be the better film this week

It's very common for kannada filmmakers to cheat their audience, first they made rangi taranga with the name of vikrant Rona, and now they made kgf with the name of kabza.😂😂😂
In the first case their blind fans defended their director and film, but how much can they defend when their filmmakers themselves don't care about their audience.
Bas KGF banna hai sabko. No originality. Just riding high on the KGF trend. And that English dialogue, LOOOL. I cringed so hard that I almost paralyzed myself.
All these "pan Indian" movies from Kannada now follows the same template and looks too similar aesthetically...copying aesthetics solely ain't gonna cut it.

Little hope for kabzaa i thought when i first saw the poster on the wall
the problem is with film makers. they think that if one flick becomes successful then we should repeat the concept again and again. Bahubali became a All time blockbuster by looking at its success film makers has started repeating the genre - Syera Narsimha Reddy, Gautami putra satakarni, Panipat, PS-I ans PS II additionally they have started making these kind of movies which will end on a cliffhanger then Audience needs to wait for the second one. KGF became a ATBB now homable films are producing movies with the same concept, same theme, & same everything. It's not necessary that if you pass one test then you are going to ace in all the tests. Execution, Script writing, Detailing in elements, etc. pieces an Incredible masterpiece.

The negative points u mentioned in the video are the exact same problems i had with kgf..choppy editing,loud music,no charcter development for anyone except the main character,cringe dialogues..but everyone said massy film..i dont get it,even if its a copy,how do u guys like one film so much and hate the other one to the core..either like both,or u hate both..what the heck..the entire kgf film also felt just like a 3 hour long trailer but everyone hailed it as a masterpiece..

@@artislife456 I watched Kabzaa. It's was boring as fuck with no coherent screenplay or story. U won't even understand what the fk is happening because everything just moves so fast and hundreds of characters keep coming and going.
But all the other issues which reviewers are ponting out were equally present in KGF as well. But no one complained about them back then and now they do.
It's like if u don't like the food at a restaurant u are eating at, u also start finding flaws in everything else in the restraunt as well from lighting to ambience to service etc. But if the food if good, u ignore rest of the issues.

I think this is the problem of Indian filmmakers .They try to replicate other successful directors rather than doing what they are good at . Good directors like rajamouli , raju hirani do not try to copy others , they only do what they are good at .

With trailer release, i could make out editing is going to be a pain.
They were supposed to release the trailer by 5pm.
Ended up releasing by 8pm. And a re-release of a little more edited version of the trailer a few hours later. I mean if they were so much confused with the release of the trailer, then simply forget the movie.

The main problem with today's filmmakers are when any franchise become popular, they continuously trying to follow that tone plus the problem with audience that they expect each and every movie to match exceptional level.
Kabzaa happened only because KGF art team forgot to take down the sets after the shoot...

If you had watched the directors previous movies you wouldn't have dared to watch even the trailer of this movie. But people would watch this movie just for the trailer as it was replica of KGF.
Never watch a movie with Upendra as an actor under any other director. He is pathetic in choosing scripts and as an actor under other directors.
You can see a completely different actor when he directs and acts in movies than the former, be it the character or dialogues or narrative.

Been a fan of Upendra since ages. But Kabza showered me with cringe moments. I guess the major, major flaw was promotion. They didn’t try to stop audiences calling it a ‘inspired by KGF’. The expectations were just straight up high. Secondly, Yash had what a gangsta should have, attitude and personality but sadly Upendra didn’t.
All in all, being a Upendra’s fan, I want to be in a hope that Kabza 2 will change the change game and turn this crap and disappointing pre-sequel into a gold.
