    Very very thank you sir. I also want to know what is the other factor for spin crossover rather than change in spin state? Is there any change in coordination number of the ligand or change in isomerisom or change in metal ligand bond distances?

    Sir NCS is a strong field ligand whereas SCN is weak field i think...??

    Very nice explanation...Thank you.I have one question from June 2016: To record Mossbauer spectrum of Fe containing samples, a source 'X' is used.(X) after a nuclear transformation (Y) gives gamma radiation used in Mossbauer spectroscopy.X & Y respectively are :
    a) 57 Fe, beta emission
    b) 57 Co, beta emission
    c) 57 Co e- capture
    d) 57 Fe, e- capture

      Can anyone explain why is [Fe(phen)2(NCS)2] complex is taken as high spin even strong field ligand phen is present there ? so overall complex should be in low spin !!!

    • @han-rw1bg
      @han-rw1bg 6 лет назад

      And what is the geometry of [ Fe(CN)4]2-
      Acc. To VBT, hybridization comes out to be dsp2 so it should be square planar but sir taught tetrahedral. I'm confused. Anyone can clear this please

  • @chetnahasija9975
    @chetnahasija9975 7 лет назад

    In all the examples discussed whenever splitting occurs we have seen 2 peaks but there are certain spectra that show 4 peaks also.please explain how we get 4 peaks.

    • @ranitram1728
      @ranitram1728 4 года назад

      The splitting or no. of peaks depend on I-value of the nuclei, if it's I=5/2, bcz quadruple splitting, no. of peaks would be 4 (e.g. : NiX4(-2).
