    Former Governor and Senator from Rhode Island. I believe that if the pontoon boats had arrived on schedule, Fredericksburg would have been a Union success...The photo at 11:34 was taken at Fredericksburg...

      Burnside had 2 successful campaings in East Tenneessee and in North Carolina, 1 almost good at the Burnside bridge (Antietam) and 2 disasters the Fredericsburg and the Crater. So 50-50% was his success. Unfortunatally he hate Hooker so much that he accepted Lincoln's offer to prevent to be Hooker the successor of Mc Clallen.
      I think Lincoln should have sent Burnside to North Carolina again with a few new regiments to attract a few troops from Lee's power.

      @avenaoat rangers at friedricksburg checked to make sure my metal detectors were disasembled and locked away then invited me back,doing their job the place is like a ridge and has condos along road it had to be hell trying to take that position!!!
