i love this style of mosaic sampling. It doesn't take anything other than sheer talent to be able to smash something to pieces and bring out your own vision from inside of it.
firstly, i love the concept and the tempo chosen for this! secondly, it's very difficult to get across (to people who doesn't know about todd's music), what it is that makes it so special. when i've attempted to, i leave with the impression that they think i'm a little crazy, but ultimately it's their loss!
Trying to explain Todd to people that don't understand his music is like trying explain to people why only some people can understand Stewie in Family guy and some people can't. It's just the way it is!
lost count how many times this video has made a bad day good over the years. thank you for making it. such wonderful selections, images and love for the man like todd. peace! ^^
I remember first coming across this video when I was just a really young teenager (this also sparking my love for Todd Edwards' music). Up to this day I still find myself coming back to watching this video again & again, I just can't express how relaxed this makes me feel whenever I listen with headphones, especially when the images are matching the sort of feeling the song portrays, I just love it! My favourite breakdown still has to be I Hear Him!
This is kind of a silly illustration, but this is what this vid is like to me: Its like when your eating cereal and pick out only the sweet fluffy marshmellows. I love that you picked mostly old skool tracks as well; totally takes me back to when I was like 13 or 14 and was just discovering electronic music. Just by CHANCE I downloaded the latest richie vibe show on 1xtra, and it was of an interview with todd as well as a mix. I instantly was in love with ukg from that second onward!
Insane quality by Todd. So much emotional and forward thinking talent. I’ve always thought of him to be up there with MF Doom & J Dilla in terms of sampling/chopping but tbh he takes it to another level. The way he flips samples into notes and melodies blows my mind. His basslines just tie everything together so beautifully. Big ups Todd!
Man after my own heart with this breakdown!! Love it mate... Todd is by far the best sampler out there..has been for years...theres a interview somewhere on youtube with him talking about how MK was a big influence on him..but todd took sampling to a how new level...i call his music "pure sunshine" music 😀 thanks for the upload 👌👍🌞
Zonaverdi, I think you've encapsulated what is so beautiful about Todd's works. The multiple layers of sounds, the messages he puts across, and the rough around the edges sampling. He cuts and pastes in way that is hard to match. The best parts of Todd's music are when you lose the beat and all you hear is the wonderful sample solo (a lot like an orchestra). Those parts of his songs always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. Exactly what great music is suppose to do to you.
Nice one! I don't know, I just sort of chose pictures that came closest to what I imagined each breakdown would look like - images and colours that summed up the sound and emotion of Todd's samples. I guess not everyone's going to think all the pictures are suitables, as everyone has their own unique memories attached to each track. But hey, I'm glad you liked them nontheless! Peace.
I can't stop listening to this mix...over and over again...hours and hours......Z.....you are a master at work...we share the same music intellect.....I've alwasy loved the breakdowns - that patchwork of sounds.........especially on a Spliff/blunt........I do have my fav's though...to be fair though, once I looked them all up and heard them.......your mix sounded better...no offence mighty Todd as you are a GOD....
Incredible caption. Great job. Thank you for this. I knew I wasnt the only one getting them feels everytime I listen to these soulful and colorful breakdowns! Kudos man!
awesome.... my favourite producer of all time favourite breakdown is from both the vocal and dub mixes of 'You Should Have Known', the dub version more so btw for Little Scare there is another version that has the breakdown without the 4/4 kick
i think a sequal is NEEDED lol. Todd the god drives me to heaven and back through his music.... Zonaverdi this is one of the most worthwhile vids on youtube! love it
Todd Edwards = living legend. Zonaverdi, great job. Interesting how Todd has made (amazing) music largely by chopping up vocals and now Zonaverdi has chopped up Todd's tracks for this (superb) vid. Anyone gonna chop up Zonaverdi's RUclips vids and make a compilation? Btw big shout to DJ EZ for introducing me (and no doubt loads of other Londoners) to the world of Todd.
also , if youre to ever make another breakdown clip , make sure to include these songs . theyre among my fav breakdowns : Perfect Love, Sunshine : Sunrise, Do You Know Why?, Light of the Son, Paul Johnson - She Got Me On (Todd Edwards Club Mix), Like A Fire
proves that todd needs to make an ambient album
DAN even 7 years later this comment is still relevant
5 years later and I'm still enjoying this video. Thanks for putting this together.
Dizcinger Bless
Cheers man, makes me happy that it's still connecting with Todd fans. Peace x
I’ll never get bored of this, 11 years and counting. Thank you!

I hope this video never gets removed from RUclips. I've watched it so much, the pictures are really an excellent choice, It's practically art.
