In france , petit ruisseau=> ruisseau ou petite riviere => riviere => grande riviere => fleuve.
In brittany we dont have fleuve , biggest its a canal and some rivieres. But a lot of creek ruisseaux so often big creek is called river by abuse.

A big river in australia ? The biggest river is the Murray river, (i lived in Mildura a long time ago) wich is not big at all.
I now live in french Guyana by
The mahuri river wich is actualy at list 20 times as big as the Murray.

Fair enough. Perhaps I should have said that my perception of a river is that it is much bigger than what we call a creek here in southern Qld. Have a nice day.

@@farmerwife8412 issue is you say that like murray river is massive river then if u compare to france biggest rivers its not.
And dont forget australia is large territory.
The foortage there is in brittany an former independant country settled by celtic person migrant of england. So not french frank. We say river when that have a name and creek ruisseau when its not named.. its very rainy country but we have not big river , due territory is arounded by the sea . In breton river is ster and avon aven for old breton like gaelic.
