just a tip, if you read the install sheet, it says to loop the drain hose up higher then the unit, and back down, says failing to do so can case salt back flow. i have the same unit since 1998
Was thinking the exact same thing. Shouldn’t he also have an air gap from the end of the drain hose/discharge pipe into the pipe outside? So it doesn’t siphon back the sewer waste water.
Hi! Great video! I am going to watch it again this evening so i can clean it. I have a unit exactly like yours, and I have a question. How do you set it to go off every other day, or however much it needs to be set? I set it to go off tonight, but my question is how to program it so I dont have to worry about it every other day. My pawpaw had all the knowledge, and when he passed away a couple of months ago, he took that with him. I cannot find the manual anywhere, and the number to call is useless. No one has any knowledge of these machines. lol Any information you have on this or any tips or tricks I would love to hear those! Thanks alot! again, great video!
the unit has a setting, to set how many thousands of gallons between recharge, mine been set at 20,000 gallons since 1998, all been good, i could go higher to save on salt, as i only have a high level of calseum no hard water or iron in my 117 foot drilled well into 17 feet of solid bed rock
@@arnoldromppai5395 Would you share where this setting is? I have this same model and no where in the manual can I find how to adjust the time between regeneration or how many gallons between recharges. As Mrs. Gilmore said the Sears numbers are useless. Mine regenerates every night and I go through about 6 bags of salt a month which I think is way too much. I am just about ready to rip this out and put in a non-Kenmore water softener. I would appreciate any information on this. All the videos I have seen do not cover this and some of the really knowledgeable water softener gurus talk and talk but don't seem to say much and you can't get clear answers.
@@LegalVideoMan THERE is 3 buttons on the right side, in a sown row, you hold in the top one for about 30 seconds, first time will flash, you can set the time by using same top button or use 2nd one to move to recharge time and how many days, ot use 2ndbutton again o move to thousands of gallons, each set you want to keep push the bottom set button, you repeat to move though what your water sample hardness setting is, mine set to 30, and 2 option for type of salt you are using, every time you hit set you have to hold the top button in again until time flashs and move though all the settings pushing top button to each setting you want center button to adjust and bottom to set an hold that setting, repeat over for next option. if this dont help, i do videos and i have the factory papers. note if you skip over setting a recharge time an how many days between of per thousand gallons, it factory default is recharge at 100,000 gallons
Hello I did the cleaning of the filter and was watching the regenerate and I noticed the water is not flowing into that tube with the floater in it. Could that be my problem why my water and ice is salty??
My motor constantly runs on my Kenmore water softener LL-40 After replacing the switch, which didn't stop it, I also replaced the control, which didn't stop it. I did an OHM's check on the switch and that checked Ok. I did a volts check at the controller from the switch to be sure I was getting voltage when the switch made. I get a little over 5 volts. I'm now lost, any suggestions.
Hi. Is the water softener sound in this video a sign that I need to get a new unit or I can fix it (but how?) ruclips.net/video/AWP-StYtgO4/видео.html Thanks.

How do you clean the float?

Sorry for the late reply... I have no suggestions on this. Replaced my unit and currently running water filter system rather than softener system.
I'm just better off. Getting a professional, who knows what he's doing! Happy Wife, Happy Life!
My wife and I are too poor to get a professional. DIY is in my DNA.
