@@RexZShadow must have considering that it can almost ignore 90 degree slopes as good as a skyrim horse, though despite being not as good at climbing slopes, thing can sequence break the shit outta the game with long jumping.

Mantine is even more chill.
Most Alphas are at least somewhat aggressive by default. But even as an Alpha, Mantine doesn't have a care in the world and won't do anything to you until you fight it; it's a pacifist by nature.
Because bidoof isnt alpha he transcends it he is sigma.
He's pretty chill, but still attacks the player. Alpha Lopunny just dances around you

Ngl first time I saw an alpha (it was that Rapidash), the scariest thing wasn't the discovery. No it when I've tried to fight it before checking the level, having it one shot my first pokémon and then turning to look at me.
That stare, that red eyes stare. It didn't make a sound but I know, I know it was telling me that I was next, that it was my turn to die.
I've just got the hell out of here, praying it would let me live.

I mean I was scared of the music and the fact that Rapidash had red eyes, but I also did throw a pokemon out to see how bad it was later on. It 1 shot my pokemon too even after some leveling. That's where I learned where the run options were.
How the heck did Luna manage to get right up its butt like that!🤣
Don't underestimate the sneaking skills of a 0 year old
Cause sometimes the alpha Pokemon bug out and then correct itself after a random amount of time, happens more often then you think but it's just not always in the same way, to give a few examples, sometimes an alpha won't attack at all but just chase you (like a following Pokemon) and scream at you and you can just clip through it's body and see it's inside, other times they for some reason can't move and will just keep screaming without running after you and also won't be able to attack you unless you make contact with there hit box, it's like a part of there mechanic stops working sometimes but because we are so focused on running away or running past them we rarely notice these bugs.

I like how the game's tutorial Alpha Pokemon is pretty much no one's first Alpha Pokemon. Maybe that'll change in the next set.

@@mesmorrow A tutorial is an explanation of what something is and how to deal with it, when we face the Kricketune we're given an explanation of what an Alpha pokemon is and how to deal with them!
A tutorial doesn't have to be a long step by step thing ya know...

I love how this game is a total subversion of pokemon as a franchise - we've been taught to avoid the tall grass if we don't want encounters
The history on pokeballs is different here too, which is subtle but a bit weird; they always converted the pokemon to energy, but in this game they literally shrink

Perhaps they don't understand energy, but pokemon were never able to shrink themselves down, nor voluntarily convert to energy. They retconned pokeballs *because* the modern technology doesn't make sense. It's a bit of a handwave, but these are the original apricorns

To be fair, Fauna actually didn't even bother to check any of the trailers before playing. After seeing how a lot of holomems would be playing it, she literally just checked which starters there were, saw Rowlet and told Nintendo to shut up and take her money.
Sure, she was warned by chat that Pokémon can attack her, but in the main series, Parasect isn't really known for being capable of sniping from afar.
(Also, she saved before trying to mess with it, which was wise)
I did the same thing as shion, went for a heavy ball for the first time on that parasect and found out its range is short
Luna was the true alpha in that situation LMAO
1st time I saw that rapidash I thought "There's no way that thing is below level 40" then I sneaked and checked its catch rate and its an X.
Meanwhile I used the Parasect to grind my team up, as my Cyndaquil burned dozens of them to ashes
Looks like Alpha Parasect was not the only one to dodge Fauna.
Even Ina dodged Fauna.
When I first came across Rapidash and seen it was level 40 my first thought wasn't to battle it it was to capture it. Using tall grass, berries, and poke balls to catch it. 13 throws got me it using back strikes.
Wait you can ambush alpha pokémons? I thought you’re forced to battle them, as pokéballs always bounce off them

This is going to be my public service announcement. Be careful of the Alpha Garchomp in the Icelands, it will take you to the cleaners if you are not careful.
the smokecreens are your best friend those have helped me get some high level pokemon that and the wing balls.

Alpha Pokemon aren't even that threatening once you figure out that you can just run past them and they won't be able to catch up nor chase you for more then 10 steps.

My first time seeing a alpha was the Snorlax from across the lake, then the Rapidash, then the Parasect. (That I was able to catch early game) I named her Mrs. Krabs.
Rapidash is my favorite Alpha. It just looks so majestic with its large size combined with its fiery mane and tail.

Legends Arceus is easily top of the list in terms of good games in the series just to see people try the Pokémon equivelant of poking an angry bear with a stick.

I’m certain that my first alpha Pokémon was the rapidash that Mio and the others encountered. I believe it also was the first alpha Pokémon which I caught

My first was rapidash. And that wasn’t intentional either. Didn’t know she was located there.
My first time i was like nope, i come back for you later.
Later when i came back and tried to catch Rapidash i ko'd almost all my pokemon and then he basically suicideded attacking me.
i later cached Alpha Floatzel and Snorlax tried again just to have him suicide once more against me (same with hippowdon) but i did catch alpha Tangrowth in the process.
I tried once more today, i one hit killed Rapidash i got too strong. 😂 Got alpha Octillery thou so happy with that ^^
I still run from Alphas… better to ambush capture them

Can you shiny hunt alpha Pokemon?
It might be possible in late game or end game
yes, beside fixed alpha like the rapidash or the snorlax any pokemon have 0.2 to 2% chance to be alpha when appear at wild. When combine with mass outbreak you have alpha chance * 1/158 (shiny chance in mass outbreak) for Shiny Alpha chance
If you're shiny hunting alphas, there is a way to increase your odds. Getting a pokemon's pokedex entry to rank 10 gives you more rolls for a shiny, and 'completing' their pokedex entry gives you even more rolls.
Anyway, good luck if that is your goal. Getting any pokemon alpha or shiny is tough enough, but trying to get one that is both will be beyond difficult.
Yeah you can reset them in a very specific way. I got crazy lucky personally and got a shiny alpha Luxio as a random encounter, so now I have a giant shiny luxray lmao
I know they can be shiny. My first shiny was an alpha geodude. I’m unsure about statics but random spawn alphas 100%

Those who actually tried to fight their first alpha encounter are very brave or very stupid. My first reaction to an alpha Pokémon was: "I know how this goes. I'm staying FAR away from that!"
I've caught several now but it took me a bit of time to work up the courage.
By about Coronet Highlands, I was comfidant in fighting them. By the Spear Pillar, I was catching them
I encountered Rapidash first and got my first taste on how scary alphas are. But the Kricketune fight convinced me that these things are just as beatable and catchable as anything else, so I braved up on Parasect and caught it. Good thing too, because Alpha Parasect immediately comes with Spore which is very helpful with catching other alpha Pokemon before getting sneak-efficient.
I actually let my Pokemon die to the Rapidash on purpose because it was using double edge. It basically killed itself giving me a ton of early experience for the Pokemon I had left alive until I got high enough level to defeat/capture it.
And of course they just typically gigantisize the Pokemons to make them an "Alpha".
Anyways, cool game. Also much more openly darker than the usual games.
Other than that, pretty much the same old Pokemon.
