I worked for a company that makes a lot of the furniture for Waffle House. The corporate guys are what you would hope management is like - pragmatic, down to earth and a healthy sense of humor. After natural disasters they are often the one place that stays open or gets back open fast - a lifeline in rural areas especially.
Yup few years ago in SC hurricane came through..everything closed for days...Waffle House was open..cash only and limited menu but they were open lol and we appreciated it!!

How much does a loaf of bread, a carton of eggs, and a box of grits cost? For a small portion of each of those items, that's definitely not a really good deal.
Before the lockdowns and supply chain issues, WH had a great and affordable 2 pork chop dinner. . .less than $9.00! And their Waffles were under $1.10 apiece! I really want to get my hands on their signature logo waffle iron for home use.
