Love the channel Ray. Always great to see your energy and positive spirit
Come in Zakk, Ray’s a perfect candidate for a fiddle and a patch.
Ray, I didn't know that you were still undergoing the surgery/physical therapy at the dawn of your channel.
That you pushed through with your relentless and infectious enthusiasm, made some amazing friends (Fluff, Chappers etc), met some of your heroes and built this community here is a real achievement. The fact that you have stayed humble and thankful through this wild ride makes me love and respect you more.
As they say, the dark times make the good ones seem sweeter.
Stay Metal Ray!
Love seeing your channel in my notifications
Keep killing it Ray!
Doing my best!
Love your joy bro! That’s why I subscribed
Ray you are the most positive mindset person on RUclips and a real inspiration to all players of all levels to keep pushing forward, sidenote there is a clip on RUclips of Eric Johnson playing Zakk's personal signature through Zakk's rig and it sounds completely like Eric Johnson through his rig lol
Good stuff Ray…I am a huge Zakk fan as well and I have the Odin Grail Raw top and it is one of my favorite guitars. I cannot wait to see BLS next month in Fort Lauderdale. Happy Sunday!
Great video! Thanks foe the review, those are some damn fine looking fiddles as Zakk would say!
I have about 40ish guitars in my personal collection and I definitely have some very cool/high end/just plain different ones (including several Wylde Audios), but hands down my favorite and the one I always pick up before all the others is my Wylde Audio Nomad with the Cocobolo top. It plays amazing, it looks amazing, it feels amazing. Everytime I pick it up I immediately just feel inspired, as corny as that may sound, but music just flows out of me when I’m holding that particular guitar.
Get yourself one Ray. I promise you won’t regret it.
Hey man... your channel is awesome. Subbed
Got the war hammer years ago ( the quilted ). Amazing guitar, great specs for the price. Got to get use to the chunky maple neck, but the guitar screams! Didn’t had to intonate or set it up, as it came perfect
Pet pweve: when guitar companies launch something radical, but they're scared to take a chance, so they play it dead safe by only making it in gloss black with dot inlays and rosewood fretboard.
Ray, I love you brother. I hope that you find the awesomeness that you provide meets with the greatness of your playing. I will continue to be a huge fan and advocate. 802d O-3 RET (Yes even the Air Force can see your talent)
They look like Viking Battle Axes. Which isn’t a bad thing
I own the Odin Rawtop. It's an amazing guitar. EMG'S and a no paint on the back of the neck for $1200. Both of those are things I've done to my guitars for years.
Seriously great guitars.
Fantastic video BTW!
Seeing you talk about what you went through with your right arm is what piqued my interest. I guess more so you've alluded to it rather than discussed it, but I want you to know it connects with me, a guitarist with a hole in his elbow and has had to go through his own rehabilitative endeavors. I worked my way out of a decade of constant pain and I think these are important stories to share.
Fuck the haters Ray, your channel is the shit and it’s awesome watching you play. I wish I had half the fun it looks like you do! Love the vids and really dig the music you put out. Looking forward to more music and videos!
P.S. love the vlogs man!
Ray, brada good to see you on this bad ass Sunday. I tried a Wylde at GC one day. Loved the massive slab of a body. The only things that kill it for me is the baseball neck and the EMG’s.
God bless you Ray.
Hope you're well too!
I love the Odin horn. It's unique. The Ruins(inlays)are from ancient nordic times. Thanks for covering this. Very few do and they're great guitars! Take care Ray.
I like that Nomad 10:55, Ray you got great taste bro
Hope you’re doing well Ray. Hope you’re doing well man! Hope you’re doing well ❤️
It's simple man if you like Lp's you certainly like wylde audio 👍 nice video keep it going.
Greetings from portugal 🖤
Hope you're doing well Ray!
Love your channel ! Question for you,... what are you using for drums when you are demoing guitars ? Are you programming drum loops/patterns yourself, or something else ? Im considering something that is simple to set up so I can practice to drums instead of a prerecorded track or a simple metronome.
*I love his version of the SG and how it looks even meaner. 🏆🎶🎥🍷 I’m definitely digging the sound of it too. Planning to buy one ASAP!!!!*
I really like the Nordic Ice Blood Eagle
For whatever reason, life, etc., haven't seen your videos in a long time. I think your presentation has really improved. Not that it was bad before, but just things like your diction is better, and you seem much more comfortable on camera. Again, this isn't a slag on your older videos, just saying they've come up a lot. Great work, man!
Nice vid man! The Nomad looks close to the Mark Morton Dominion. 🤷🏽♂️
want one of these now
I forget what he called it but my favorite was the V/SG hybrid one. Don’t know why it’s not available anymore.
Warhammer
I believe Dean owns the shape
I love the burl barbarian. They hard to get hold of in UK though. Just got a epi prophecy SG instead a couple of weeks ago
Man, the Epi Prophecy line is just insanely great. I have 2 of the Prophecy Les Pauls, 1 of the SG’s and 1 of the Flying V’s. I love them so much. Anytime I can pair one of my favorite guitar brands (Gibson/Epiphone) with my absolute love for active pickups then that is just damn fine in my book. 👍🏻👍🏻
I LOVE THAT BLOOD EAGLE GUITAR VERY NICE GREAT VIDEO SIR THANK YOU
dimebag made me wanna do pinch harmonics all the time keep it up dude
I have only played one, the Nomad. Awesome guitar. I'm waiting on the Wylde Audio amp heads. I currently use 2 old, 1986 Laney AOR heads and cabs. I also may end up going to a stereo power amp, processor, twin 4x12 setup. I haven't decided yet.
Zakk is my guitar idol \m/
thoughts on the subzero baritone???
Love the Wylde Audio designs. Not you same old boring "cookie cutter" guitars. I love my Barbarian Buzzsaw. Getting the Nomad next. These guitars have balls!
Sometimes you want a cookie cutter shaped cookie
@@Ottophil Then buy a Les Paul or a Strat😒
Here's a problem with Wylde Audio, I can't buy these new ones in the UK. Would love so many of these
I've been wondering what you thought about Zakk Wylde, his guitars, his style of playing, and his music. I follow you, and I highly value your opinion. From a fellow vet, thanks for your service
The matte black Blood Eagle, has been on my list since it came out.
I love The nomad too! I see it as a warlock combined with an avenger. Definitely a cool look.
I am a big fan of both Zakk himself and Wylde Audio, really would love to have one of these guitars. Sadly they aren't available in europe (as far as I know...)
This might sound stupid but can you make a detailed video on how to do pich harmonics
I love the horn on the Odin Grail lol
What's playing in the background? Sounds kick ass
He needs to bring back the war hammer! That was a cool guitar! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
That being said lol I have the Odin in green and I think it does sound absolutely fantastic for jazz too :p
Great video. I personally would rather have his les paul bullseye though.
The only thing I do not like about the Wylde Audio Guitars is the Zakk paint jobs like you said. Keep up the great videos Ray love the vlog trips to Guitar Center.
I like the Odin Grails, but that said the wood coverings are awesome! It seems like quality specs and quality built with set necks etc.
They are sick. I love Zakk. The nomad is super cool
I love the Blood Eagle green and black one.In some pictures the black looks like coping around the edges and I love fat necks so I was thinking about getting one and this video put me over the top.
I’m a guitarist trying to get through a disability and learn to play again. My right elbow was demolished by a rocket propelled grenade in Afghanistan. And I have shrapnel damage in my left hand. I gave up trying to play again… I let the depression stop me. I lost all hope. But I’ve got it back! The challenge is finding an easier to play guitar (low action) on a budget. But I will get there! Just wanted to let you know I’ve been in your shoes! Keep putting out great content!
I’d like to see one of the LP-style versions (Odin) but with the burl top and back that was on the Barbarian
Blood eagle was my favorite BC rich guitar in the 80’s. It reminded me of a scary les Paul from Hell
We are living in the golden age of cool fucking guitars.
That one nomad reminded me of one of Jerry Garcia’s guitars. Two guitarist that couldn’t be more different. lol
Ya man! I love the wylde audio guitars....that buzzsaw odin is crazy cool man, ......i owned one a while back but sold it regretfully for financial reasons. I definately want to get another one soon before they cost as much as a les paul standard...and i think they play just as good as a standard.....yep
Every Wylde Audio guitar I played look, sound, and feel amazing. Unfortunately, when it came time to buy a guitar it was buy a new or used WA for retail (not many cash grabbers want to sell their Wylde audio for reasonable) or buy a year old Dean V select for half price.
the nomad is a RD esque shape
cool, cool ,cool. but how do you feel about death wish coffee?
The Blood Eagle is my fav out of the Zakk bunch! The quality is amazing for the price
Yay zakk
I picked up one a few years back at guitar center. It just felt... cheap. Loved the baseball bat neck for bigger hands but thats about it. I mean, would it be so hard to just have an all black finish? Not the bullseye bullshit.
Partially unrelated: Schecter has been throwing discounts on a *lot* of the Apocalypse series as well; new models seem to be coming all the time.
There are some beastly basses and teles in the Apocalypse series...ridiculous electronics. So good.
I own 3 Wylde Audio guitars, the Odin Grail bullseye, Warhammer vertigo, and the Nomad vortex, All 3 kick ass and I love them so much.
I’m thinking of getting the barbarian Nordic ice. U think I should ?
Honestly if I had one of those Odin Grail’s, I’d do a little custom work and shave down that horn and round it over a bit.
An Odin Grail without the rings in a white finish would be the bomb.
It’s funny because I barely saw some of these at Guitar Center yesterday lol
Love the odin, if only guitar center would just give it to me
My biggest reason for not having picked up a Wylde Audio axe is literally all of them are Emg 81/85. Don’t get me wrong - I understand why, I just really don’t vibe with the 85 in the neck on warm instruments. Such a shame they don’t offer any 81/81 or 81/60 models
Swap them for the Tipton models, I think he used two 81s and his signatures are based on that.
@@Scott__C yah it’s more i don’t want to drop that much on a guitar just to immediately have to change something
@@stug5041 Totally get it. Should be what you want out of the box except for maybe action.
Wylde is my favorite guitar player and my WA Guitar is by far the best guitar Ive ever played. I have the burl barbarian.
I think you should pick one up,do a review on it and flip it
I respect Zakk for going Bold and taking a risk at least!......I will admit these guitars are growing on me, I'm seriously thinking about getting one.
Wylde audio cool guitars man,God bless
I like the Barbarian Guitar!
I like the weight. Clean fun guitar. My les paul gets played less.i have Odin redrum.
Anyone noticed the double open book headstock
🔥
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I’m so so hesitant to try one of these guitars, I love the looks and the names are dope imo but i’m worried that the QC isn’t very good and will ruin the facade for me.
Unless you get ahold of a b stock that someone didn’t disclose properly I think you’ll be alright. I have 4 Wylde Audios in my personal guitar collection and I have played countless others via music shops and/or friends that own them and they have always been built fantastic. My personal opinion of course, I’m just going off of what has been my own personal experience with them. 👍🏻✌🏼🤘🏻
@@bscottbearden Do you agree with Ray that the necks are fat and not thin?
I have a red heathen, I just fell in love at first sight.
Wish he still made the Viking V
If they're part of Schecter are they made by World Music in Korea? These are great guitars but I'd rather have a LTD with a more traditional shape.
Zakk is a fucking God 🤘 😎 🤘
I had the see through bullseye and I freaking Love it and screw the people that talk shit Ray your an excellent guitar player
Dont listen to him much... but Zach Wylde is a killer player and dude. Ty for staying metal.
I actually had a Wylde Audio Odin in black and remember not liking as I thought I would, traded right away for a Schecter Zacky Vengeance 6661 that I felt had more playability then the Odin.
I Love the MINT Chocolate Chip (Nordic Ice) It is one of the few in Lefty. Every time I was ready to order it, it was out of stock......Maybe someday. I currently own a Schecter Avenger with 81/85 EMGs Love it , the inlays are beautiful abalone with a Gray Burst, Daughter Names it Thor as it looks like storm clouds. We Lefties don't get a lot of love with models or colors
Fuck the haters. You do you man. Awesome channel
Look up what Runes are bro. My amp company is based off the vision/mantra of the “Kenaz” Rune. The Thor movies are loosely guided by runes depending on the era. So they can have somewhat different translations by the Viking years etc…
Fuck the haters bro. They hate because they can’t do. Great channel. Keep it up 👍
I really can’t see Wylde audio sticking around much longer. Too niche, too “out there”, no publicity. I REALLY see Zakk going back to Gibson in the near future now with the better management
they're basically build on demand batches so from the corporate standpoint unless there's a fiscal and or contractual reason to kill a brand, nobody is going to voluntarily *shrink* their empire.
Schecter is one of the top in QC of their overseas builds. Period.
Gotta love the unknown upstart parts company to full build signature model top contender in many markets story; literally The Dream. :-)
This comment didn't age well lol
@@matthewhopkins6359that’s what I was gonna say
Lol
I’m a designer and the logo is what sells me on it
Love my Blood Eagle!!
I heard the necks are really thick?
@@ricksanchezito8972 there is a lot of Truth to that. It's surprisingly deceptive how big the neck actually is. I find it to be much wider than normal but as soon as you get your hand around it, it feels like an old friend. This is all by feel, mind you.
I am very partial to the Ibanez wizard III neck. And, you'll never believe this. The Jackson JS32 series. Yep! The cheap ones! The necks are astounding! I've had my hands on quite a few of them not only owning them but repairing them on my bench. They are *almost* on par with my Jackson Kelly KEX or Ibanez Premium.
Anyways, back to the blood eagle. Haha! I had mentioned earlier I find the neck to be very comfortable allowing me to play for extended periods of time.
I don't get too hung up on neck dive. Most of my guitars have big heavy locking tuners on them so I'm used to it pitching down.
Weight is another popular topic for dudes to minge about. Of course it's heavy. Look how greaking big it is! The hard shell case for it is absolutely massive!
Moving past the jaw- dropping visual that this guitar sets off is its monstrous tone! I have a variety of shredders and this is usually my go-to. I love it!!
By the way, got it on sale at musician's Friend for $899.
Hey Ray ,your wrong buddy the flying v guitar was not geared toward metal players the year 1958 Gibson tried to come up with futuristic designs because even the cars of that era had tail fins replicating space ships ! Lonnie Mack was the first guitarist to adopt the flying v he didn't play metal Ray ! Also the great Albert King played the flying v ! A musicians individuality can't be pigeonholed for one certain design of instrument ! I love metal music but I also love archtop guitars ! Jazz players are just as inspired by wildly designed guitars as they are by the music they play !
I’m not your buddy, guy.
@@xanderraymondcharles lol south park reference! Nice one Ray! 🤣🤘🏻
Im righht with you Ray...
Just thought about the same yesterday.... A guitar brand should be true to them self and not try to cater to be something that they are not...
I wich BC Rich would come back to what they where when i startet playing guitar around 99 when the widow / beast heads started coming in to ecsistence.
It were just so metal... The black Warlock that Mick Thomson played in the early Slipknot days!!!! Wich B.C. Rich would bring back that shit...🤘
😎
Howdy Ray
Hey hey!!!!!
