Ford F-150 4th gear went out 5 transmission shops said it was the transmission it's all bull crap $1,800 new transmission did the same thing and then they said oh it must be electrical not one Transmissions shop said it might be electrical find out the computer was bad put new computer in it everything's perfect shifts perfect there was nothing wrong with my old transmission it's all a scam
Danny Collier what exactly did you replace? I have the same problem with my 05 F150
Ben Beyer it all of a sudden going down the road high gear just revved up like in neutral and the engine did surge a little bit at a red light and all that work putting a new transmission in and converter I'm 73 years old ain't easy no more it was the computer put a new computer in it didn't touch anything else and it ran and shifted perfectly and still is
Danny Collier my 99 250 super duty 7.3 has done this since I bought it with 85k. At 75 mph or higher tries to shift down then goes into neutral. Similar to yours? You fixed it with a new computer? I recently replaced the trans with no change.
My buddy has a crown vic p71 with the 4r75w. It acts weird in 3rd gear and overdrive is basically completely gone. He has to turn overdrive off to be able to drive safely...like it surges and slips. What could be causing this?
Same here od servo clip pieces in the valley bloccing trans fluid flow or broken spring letting od servo compress to far there for od band slips out of of place.
Now that's a disquieting thought: "this means the case in unsalvageable..." I shudder to think of a no-core trans replacement.

What is the reason for this type of failure, I've just changed servo and ring cleaned and inspected valve body changed 8 plastic balls . Its still has no 4th gear every thing is in place and lined up
Overdrive band needs to be put in place before servos are put bacc in place
i have same trans 04 maruade i getting 2 codes po173 and p1740 do u think if i change my tcc solenoid in the trans that be my problem car cuts off sometime shifting from park to drive and o/d light flashes sometimes and when i take off i got too stay on gas to keep it going ..wat do u think....thanks
I have a 2001 Ford F-150 5.4 4r70w, when cold it will shift into all gears. But after it warms up no third or overdrive, all of that happened when I took a turn to fast. Any advice would be good thank you..
Loss of fluid pressure to the direct drum and/or burned direct frictions.

Have 4r75e that after changing battery transmission will not go in to first gear, any ideas please help

Man will you help me please I have a 2002crown Vic it have a transmission issues when it to gear it shifts normally but the 4the gear it doesn't ingage in it start to rive high and move slowly I press the over drive just to make it move I chick the fluid it's OK and clean and I try to scan the code it doesn't show any thanks

Just happened to me on my town car, just as you describe it. No 4th at all, from 3rd to neutral... any advise?
The overdrive servo snap ring likes to break in these, no 4th at all that could certainly be the issue or the pin bore he's talking about.

+Karim Bakri I don’t know of a fix, but the easy way is to turn overdrive off. Car should be 100% drivable.
4r70w it won't go in ger 300 rpm wen I stop I have to go 300rpm to go
