    Lyrics:
I wait for the postman to bring me a letter
I wait for the good Lord to make me feel better
And I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders
A family in crisis that only grows older
    Why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I am broken but I am hoping
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I am crying, a part of me is dying and
    These are, these are
The confessions of a broken heart
And I wear all your old clothes; your polo sweater
I dream of another you the one who would never, never
Leave me alone to pick up the pieces
A daddy to hold me, that's what I needed
So why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I don't know you, but I still want to
Daughter to father, daughter to father
Tell me the truth, did you ever love me'
    Cause these are, these are
The confessions of a broken heart, of a broken heart
    I love you
    I love you
    I love you
    I, I love you
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I don't know you, but I still want to
Daughter to father, daughter to father
Tell me the truth, did you ever love me'
    Did you ever love me?
    These are
The confessions of a broken heart, oh yea
And I wait for the postman to bring me a letter

So many of us (people) just ignored that "anti Lindsay" stuff and here we are still careless about those "on air haters", she is good but is to expensive the price of being famous; hope now she feel better than then, she should learn that others decisions can hurt so much, but they're still from others and we can choose to learn or repeat the same patterns.

Just read the critics reviews of this song I can not believe they trashed Lindsay basically for being "too emo" and "too raw". A song like this would be so praised nowadays where it literally is so cool to talk about dark feelings. Lindsay suffered so much living in a time where it just wasn't okay for a young successful woman to not be okay.

Hi y'all. I realize this is an echo chamber of a certain age group and rarely do echo chambers invite context into their bubbles....BUT
The response writ large at the time was a collective eye roll, tho it still reached top 30 charts. This production was soo overwrought and melodramatic and derivative. Combined with the real life shenanigans she, her mom and dad were pulling off laid bare in the media was really off putting and completely neutered any impactful meaning in her music career. Also, at the time, it was en vogue to do this oooh, aren't I deep, and aloof, and full of pathos and angst and trauma type of music videos, I'm not your typical pop star. She was following the trend, hardly something to be commended for at the time, hence it was largely panned by critics and viewers.
Her path to recovery these days is, however, something to be commended for.

In my opinion, Lindsay was treated like Britney, she was exploited by the people that where supposed to protect her, (Mom, Dad) she acted out in the way Britney did, she was trying to establish her identity and independence, like Britney, Lindsay has worked since she was a legit child. The media in the early 2000’s were relentless and ruthless, they had absolutely no boundaries. This was Lindsay crying out for help, yet no one listened l.

This is one of the most genuine and cry of help videos I've ever seen. The way they fight as she wasn't there, the people watching every detail of her life and pain, the way she holds on to the rosary like how she hold on to faith back then, the lyrics asking her father to at least hold her... Everything. Lindsey Lohan is one of the many victims of Disney, Hollywood and the media/paparazzi. I put up Parent Trap because I've never seen it, and ended up here after reading her biography because I just couldn't believe how a MAGNIFICENT actress like her had the downfall she did.

This made me cry for the first time. This hit hard, because it comes from Lindsay's soul, the soul of a little girl inside who had to deal with the reality, that her dad does not love her, but she still does love him. That's probably the worst and most feared heartbreak of a little child, when a parent does not love him back. She perfectly embodied the pain.

I wanted to know if he ever loved me. He came back and showed he didn't love us. He was like a friend that talked shit behind the back and pretend to love. He left my mom eventually and met others and treated their kids better then me and my sisters.. til this day... he denies he ever hit us or did what he did. Present... I haven't spoken or talked to him in years. It's been the best for me. I was very depressed and kept wanting to be loved from someone who would never. I had to save me and I did. It does hurt.. not having a dad to love me. But I'm being strong and I wish him the best in life and that just ain't with me.

    LYRICS#
I wait for the postman to bring me a letter
I wait for the good Lord to make me feel better
And I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders
A family in crisis that only grows older
    Why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I am broken but I am hoping
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I am crying, a part of me is dying and
    These are, these are
The confessions of a broken heart
And I wear all your old clothes; your polo sweater
I dream of another you the one who would never, never
Leave me alone to pick up the pieces
A daddy to hold me, that's what I needed
So why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
    Why'd you have to go
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I don't know you, but I still want to
Daughter to father, daughter to father
Tell me the truth, did you ever love me'
    Cause these are, these are
The confessions of a broken heart, of a broken heart
    I love you
    I love you
    I love you
    I, I love you
Daughter to father, daughter to father
I don't know you, but I still want to
Daughter to father, daughter to father
Tell me the truth, did you ever love me'
    Did you ever love me?
    These are

How much a look can hit as hard as a yell, and how hard a yell can become something worst than physical pain... It is impressive how much this musical video can make us remember our different type of situation. We are all survivors, guys. Even though, this song is about daughter to father, I always imagined son to father. My father too used to beat me up. Slap, punch, kick, find whatever he can find, and put my self esteem down. I was mentally, physically, and emotionally wrecked. Leaving me with bruises. This song always made me cry just like the one with Because of you by Kelly Clarkson. 🙏🏼

She was one of the many broken children from the movie industry, used by her parents to make money, with predators and bad people around her, and the paparazzi hunting her. She was broken, but she had the strength to reconstruct herself.

She could sing and was a very talented actress. A very believable actress. Hoping she makes a big comeback and has the career she deserved.

I hate to say it, but Lindsay's done. Today's society is too unforgiving and judgmental.

@@joshburns4611 she currently has a movie deal with Netflix and she's starred in London's West End theatre and on TV. If you mean done so far as being an A+ star in mega budget Hollywood movies that may (or may not) be the case. Only time will tell. However considering where her career was a few years ago she's doing pretty well.

Critics say this is “too raw”, but personally I prefer a musician that shows emotion and their true self. I don’t want “Baby One More Time” (not saying I don’t like it), I want to listen to a song that the singer wrote and is expressing. I like it raw, I like it emo, I like it happy… I like to hear something from the heart with a message. I’m a fan of Christina, and her album Stripped is a perfect example. She talks about beauty (Linda Perry), strength, abuse, attraction, sexuality… I like easy listening as well, but I want something that’s relatable. Even if this is not considered the “best” song to some people, she wrote this herself and the music video was personal. I admire her SO much for that.

This should've been a grammy nominated song
This song is nostalgic to me because I remember the pain of my estranged relationship with my dad. It really hits home.
I'm so proud of Lindsay growing from a broken child to a secure grown woman
