Both of these teams had valiant late season pushes, but, my God, does any game better sum up the experience of watching the 2000s Buffalo Bills than this one? You’re up 16-13 with 14 seconds to go in the half on a day where the wind made it to where you probably weren’t making any kicks over 40 yards with any regularity. It’s 4th and 2 on your 36…and you give up a 36 yard TD run to Vince Young, who got to the end zone untouched? Yikes. Then Robert Royal has 3+ feet between where he initially caught the ball and the back of the end zone and he doesn’t get his feet down to more or less put the game away? Listen, we all know the Bills weren’t beating Baltimore anyway, but what a brutal way to lose. Oh and btw, you have to let Longwell try that 46 yarder in that spot with under a minute to go. Even though JP Losman made strides this season, I’m not asking him to convert with the game on the line. Speaking of Losman, it appears his ceiling in terms of production is…2000s Drew Bledsoe? You hate to see that. For Tennessee, Vince Young does his wild trapeze act yet again, and improbably the Titans are alive heading into week 17. The bad news, though, is with the Colts losing to the Texans, New England could conceivably get the 2 or 3 seed depending on the results next weekend, so they have every incentive in the world to play their starters. Oh, and the Titans also need a lot of help independent of what happens in their game. Either way, what a great run for Jeff Fisher’s squad.
