The part about Joey missing doing stuff like this with Chandler was touching. Especially because you could feel it that by this point in the show, it felt like a long time since we saw them just being idiots together again.
When you hang out with each other youre basically hanging out with the wife also which isnt the same thing as a few buddies hanging out together.

The characters always flirted with raunchiness without being raunchy themselves. The way Sinatra and the Rat Pack flirted with the mob image without being mobster themselves. It’s a way of appropriating aspects of fringe culture while maintaining a deceitful “wholesome” image. In other words, it’s chickenshit.
Hopefully, the next generation of sitcoms will finally dive in and stop playing it safe. We need to talk about fentanyl, STD’s and homelessness and stop pretending “decent” people are unaffected. 🙂
that 70's show had pretty raunchy bits. the problem is mostly with shows like these it comedy, so when you start making fun of subjects like that you make the main characters sound like a bunch of rich assholes, wich happens a couple times in friends. I just wonder how you plan too not play it safe in a sitcom

This show was written for a female audience since a man, especially Joey, would never react like this.
Many men don't like that kind of thing, no matter how attractive the sex worker is. Remember that he has a lot of younger sisters, and maybe he had female friends who were terribly exploited and abused while working in that industry.
