Full Replay from the Olympic Stadium as the qualifying stages of the men's 800m take place at the London 2012 Olympic Games (6 August 2012).
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

I can't help but feel bad for those runners who come in last by 50-100 meters. But then I realize that they are in the Olympics and are very lucky to get this opportunity
+Harry Challis Yes, I can't think of a better place to be so far behind!
i know this is a late reply.... actually really late like 5 years late but anyway there is only room for improvment for those athletes
Not luck.... skill.
Not forgetting that they are the best in their countries
Harry Challis
Rudisha was out for a stroll in the park
+Joey GB Good job they found him - he had a race to run.
How on earth did this dude just run in the Olympics with a 2 minute 800?
David Barron he wasn’t trying he probably was running another event or he might have been injured
Good question. I guess no one runs fast in Guam. Look up Derek Mandell... his PRs are pedestrian
yeah he was probably the fastest from that country. I might move there hehe
That happened to 3 people
Right. The women are much faster
Its just wonderful to see Rudisha run, grace in motion
Shoot I wish I could make the olympics running 2 flat
Edward Gutierrez
Weird how high schoolers are doing under 2 but some of these guy don’t get that or barely do
Most of them come from smaller countries where athletics is not as popular or supported . You'd never see an US runners go that slow because the standard is high for the US to get into the Olympics.
Tank _02 1:46 is the qualifying time for the 800m in the next olympics, I think it’s cause of people running 2:00 mins and stuff
Lol I ran a 1:57 back in HS and then a 1:54 in college and if I was from a country like Guam or something then I know at least I got the opportunity to make the Olympics even though I got dusted 😂
Edward Gutierrez guam is not a country but ok
Rudisha's run looked like the easiest 1:45 ever O.o
Nick Symmonds at 14:01
Peak form bison.
Everybody running races of their lives while rudisha is just jogging. His form was excellent
My expectations for people who wear t-shirts in the Olympics are nearly non-existent.
Peter D same
12:30 Arnold Sorina from Vanuatu, trained with my local athletics club in the run up to the games, genuinely nice bloke, Vanuatu team had no coaches with them and just came and trained with us, it really was an amazing experience
1:54 still is a great mark :)
There's that one guy in every race that runs barely under 2mins...
+Matías Jonsson Yes, but they manage to cover him up with a flag!
yes but not for the Olympics
AstoundingPilot -SW- there are many high school athletes that can hit it. Yes, it’s impressive, but it is bad on an international scale
Keepyupy Its just like those guys from small countries running 11.7 in the 100m prelims
Anos runs as if he's jogging, he also rocks from side to side
Fun fact: in title there are the name "amos, rudisha, kitum" who's the order of the final podium (in the normal podium with 2-1-3)
Very interesting to see the heats that lead up to the greatest 800m race ever.
No respect to Makhloufi taking a Olympic spot someone else could have gotten and actually tried. Don't care if he is the 1500m champion
Maybe he was the best his country had to offer
Did he still qualify?
well in rio he got silver in bith the 1500 and 800
Wasn’t his choice to run the race, he had to do it, he was mistakenly put in. And didn’t want to go full force incase he hurt himself and couldn’t run 1500m
You don't need to respect him, he still has the gold. Also, he was the only Algerian here. If Rudisha did that we would cry foul because in Kenya there are at least 10 guys who qualify for Olympics but available slots for one country are limited. There were 3 of them out of the 8 in Rio finals
I'm watching this while eating ice cream
Lmao. Same
Well, Nick Symmonds (5th at the 2012 Olympic Final) even drink beer
Whos here for symmonds?
No that was a different guy. The guy who went just sub 2 was hurting and wearing a different singlet.
The youtuber in olympic
Rudisha makes 1:45 look easy
his form can be deceiving.
You should have included the world champion Qarni Said Jubeir from Algeria, who performed races at the top, concluded his career with honorable medals, and etched his name in the memory of athletics.
Did Kaki retire?
I haven't seen him compete in the longest time.
@@anthonyjoshua1603 this was 2012
Jogging all the way Rudisha! Lol
ikr 😭😂
Wow rudisha genuinely looks like he is jogging
its crazy to see how far bosse has come
makhloufi didn't want to compete in the 800m, but the Algerian Olympic Association failed to withdraw him so he had to compete. he apparently dropped out due to an ailment.
he done it on purpose because he didnt care what he done in the 800, he went and won the 1500m
Whooop Rudisha!
I am not an expert, but I am sure Amos' form isn't quite out of the textbook. He looks like he's dragging himself.
10:02 what do you mean 17??? Jeez not even full grown yet and already cooking in the Olympics
Fresh Appleseed he’s not actually 17 but if he says he is he can compete in junior races and if he places get more prize money. He comes from a very poor background
@@paddyhickey2211 He looks even 16. Aman at least doesn't look 18 but Kitum is obviously a kid.
I ran against the aussie guy years ago, he beat me by 6 seconds
19:00 〜
横田さん!!
Amos ...running style similar to Michael Johnson and the Scottish runner 🏃♂️ in the movie about the 1904 Olympic games...think the upand down with head pulled back allow more oxygen to enter the body....Amos was coming up on Rudisha.. needed an 880 yard race for gold.
Who is here for 14:20
Genuinely can someone explain to me how we are running 145s to 146s in the Olympics? I know no one wants to peak but why no one push?
No point cause it’s not the finals. 1:45 is also pretty quick
So can someone explain to me why in heat 1 Al-Azemi was DQed for pushing Lewandowski? Lewandowski was slowing down obviously, there was no way he was getting in the Top 3. We saw a lot of pushing and shoving in Women's 800m in Doha, and no one was DQed.
Al-Azemi pretty clearly tripped Lewandowski from behind with 200 to go and pushed him in the back just as he was gearing up at the end. Lewandowski is known for his final kick and he had that ready to go until the Kuwaiti put him off his balance. Plus, they don't assume how someone would have performed after being fouled - they give the impeded runner the benefit of the doubt and advance him. It was the right call - and whatever happened in other races doesn't change that. (And Nakaayi was likely not DQed from that Doha semi because nobody she pushed got left out of the final. The final itself was clean.)
what's with that guy only running just below 2 flat? Did he hurt himself?
Apparently, he had almost no chance in 800m. He figured going hard would ruin him for 1500m .His country failed to withdraw him so he had to run. He won the 1500m though
Aqui do SITIO ESCRIVÃO aqui zona rural de Guarabira no estado da Paraíba no Brasil
If you're talking about the guy in the first race, then you are wrong, that was not Makhloufi. I know who your talking about, I don't think the other kid is talking about him.
Rudishas kick tho
Lewandoski didnt win the Olympics then he change his sport to football to win the balon dor, but the 2020 balon dor was cancelled. So unfortunate of him 😭😂
Kenya is marwa
My teammates could beat that dude in last lmao
Andre Oliver is my teacher 😂😁

Commentator says Reina was a world cup winner 10 years ago at 23:40. Can anyone clarify?
He was, 2002 in Madrid Spain. Not sure what you need clarification on.
he is the classic algerian :) sly and fast
Duane Solomon is soooo handsome to me! *sigh* lol.
yungstunna217 Are u jade? Cuz you have the same username for your spam account.
Rear runners breaking 2 minutes.
800m should have that foot thing they use for impulse at the start
Steve from Yellowstone a block?
Actually no, because 800m is a mid-distance race, you use something like 60% of aerobic energy
peçanha niceee
Uganda keep it up
Yes Julius Mutekanga is so obsessed.

Nijel amos must have one of the ugliest running styles
Rudisha on the other hand..
