I've looked forever in finding a vibrato installation video for my Epiphone Firebird; I don't know anything about guitar modifying, but I feel like I've learned quite a bit after researching the right parts, and I thank you for posting this video.
Just wanna say thanks for the informative, well paced and well produced video. Thanks to you, I went from zero to Bigsby in about 15 minutes. Well done!
I installed a Bigsby B7 with a Vibramate on my Gibson Les Paul, and for me, i didn't use the white plastic washer, its still just as smooth as it was with the washer, the arm is just lower to the body, which is just a personal preference for me. Vibramate have really made something amazing with these things.
Am I the only one that came for the install, and stayed for the music? I checked out your reverb and bandcamp, i'd really like a copy of this song ( which is only in the teaser)........ clever
@@CameronJohnson When he said loud music he could have said excessively loud. I know must love that stuff but the mix was way off. Your voice had to increased to 3 times the level of where you put the musical interludes. I couldn't finish the video but there are plenty of others with tolerable mixes. Roll on.
Hi, I have a question. Would it bet better to drill pilot holes instead of screwing the Bigsby without them? Or are the screw small enough that the wood or paint won’t crack. Oh wait, is the vibramate the reason not having to drill pilot holes??
Cameron Johnson am I missing something. I watched another video of the same bigsby being installed and I can't tell what is stopping that spring from falling out the moment you pick up the guitar
Does it stay in tune… I 've read there are problems and the nut will need adjustments (cut)… Also read something about when removing it after a while if your SG has a brilliant finish it ruins it…Leaving a mark?
There's a simple mod that makes stringing guitars with Bigsby trems easier. Just pull those pins out of the bar and thread the strings through the remaining holes. Much easier and faster if you need to do it during a live performance. You'll need to drill out the holes where the pins were so the strings fit through, also clean up any burrs etc around the holes to avoid damage to strings, a tiny rat tail file would do the trick, if the come that small.
Man that's a great idea. I was thinking I may need to get one of those things that attach to the Bigsby if it annoyed me but I like your method better!
Can I get help on something? I need the measurement from the point of intonation (bridge) to the very back of the B5 with an install like this. I am designing a guitar with a short tail area, kind of like an EVH Wolfgang or Framus Panthera. I want it to be neck-through and so I'm trying to figure out if a 36" bass neck blank will be long enough. I think it's going to come up short.
I've been seeing Vibramate string spoilers for Bigsbys, but i'm not sure if they're necessary or if they just make stringing up easier. Would you know?
i dont know what he used but here a tip ,,, take a 2hb pencil they are made from graphite . color the strings at the nut , try to get the graphite under the string , graphite is a dry lube that works well under pressure ,,, i ve used it for years , and it does work well ,,, i used a carpenters pencil because it is wide , i ve used the same one for about fives year and still have lots left ,,, oh buy the way i have found stetsbar to be better than the bigsby good luck cheers
They do! D'Angelico makes a Deluxe Bob Ware Signature model with a Bigsby on it. Or you can get the SS model with the stop bar tail piece and install one yourself.
Hey people I want to add a bigsby style bridge to my Epiphone sg special and mine only has a wraparound bridge can anyone point me in the right direction of a video to help me out here
Did you pull your strings completely tight before turning the tuning machines? Bad move, bro. You need to leave a few inches of slack when you turn the machines, that way the actual turning of the machines pulls it tight, leaving somewhere around 3-5 wraps around the peg, which holds the string in place a lot tighter and improves intonation consistency between playing, so you won't have to tune up as much, and it relieves stress from the strings. Plus, if it slips out of the peg (high strings) due to no friction, you just have to replace the string.
+Terran Spears Look up info about locking tuners. They eliminate the need to wrap the string around the peg multiple times. In fact, when you use locking tuners, you are supposed to wrap as little as possible.
Lmfao, Terran Spears the armchair tech. There's a fuckhead on every video, rambling off "facts" or the "correct" just to try and sound like they know what they're talking about. The number of wraps you have on a tuning peg has *0* effect on the intonation of your bridge

I like the use of the capo. I will have to do that from now on. I have never done that before. I have always fought with my bigsby haha.
I'm glad I saw that tip online before restringing a student's Bigsby. Made it easy!
a fellow EXL116 user! I love those strings, and your music is kickass!

+Nick Lehman The song is Dark Tower 1 bye the way, which is available. :)
I could live without the loud music on this video.
That's just how we roll over here.

great, easy and concise...thanks for this....much appreciated!!!

Vibramate removes any reason to screw.
this looks very easy to do
Cool video! Capo works, StringRay is Better for restringing.
Nice clean install job! Kudos...

I want to put this on my t3l3 by th way my ky boar is brokn
Of course it does. That's why vibramate is a waste of money. Just drill that bitch and make it a Bigsby guitar permanently.
you can lube every friction point with chapstick. It worked on all my guitars for years.
More explanation about spring and washer attachment!!!
what is this ;ubricant again? and where do you get it? is it a petroleum based lube?

This bigsby b5 can push and pull like floyd rose or just use as a tremolo?

I think they just make things a bit easier. They aren't necessary, but sort of a bonus. :)
That bridge style need locking tuners?
I actually dont like SG models, but i have to say.. this is a really cool one ! :)
The bigsby spring is of Harley Davidson, right.
Haha, I have no idea...
Can I do higher tones with this or only lower ?
unfortunately only lower
how do you keep the arm in place so the spring wont fall out....?

Do you know if the vibramate will work with a Jazzmaster?
I think so! There might be a model that would fit the Jazzmaster. I'd do some research first.
Cameron Johnson I think the Tele model fits a Jazzmaster, but i'm not sure
If you curve the strings around a BIC pen, it's much safer and easier.
What is the stuff you coated the nut with to lubricate it?

Do they make this for a lesson Paul style body with an arch top?
They do! D'Angelico makes a Deluxe Bob Ware Signature model with a Bigsby on it. Or you can get the SS model with the stop bar tail piece and install one yourself.
For that you can use either a b7 or a b3

Can you do an upward pull on the trem arm?
Yea but if you go too far the spring can pop out lol
Will this work on yamaha pacifica 611 hfm
I'm not sure, you might want to do a little research first.

(Locking tuners)
It never hurts to do something correct.
+Terran Spears umm... No. Locking tuners lock the string in place, essentially replacing the need for winding the string around the peg.

can you put one of these on an epiphone es 335
For an archtop, you'll need to find the Bigsby that works for that stye. The B5 is for 'flat top' guitars.
B3 or B7 if memory serves.
VIBRATO......VIBRATO..........VIBRATO Get it right for the love of pizza.
Just want to know why you would want a bigsby on a esp
Cause some of us just don’t want to pay for a real gibson
Gonna put one of these fuckers on my strat.
Sharkuel your start doesn't have a trem? Or do you just not like it?
I prefer the bigsby one. It feels more accurate than the one in the strat.
Your not done yet.problems are just about to start.
Personnellement , je préfère percer ma guitare plutôt que de mettre ce Vibramate que je trouve très moche .
"English and metric" hagahah come on
Vibrato = vocal.. tremelo=guitar part LoL.
