    I've been alive for the 20th , 40th , and now the 80th .
These men I've known my whole life , my neighbor , milk man , my teacher , clerks , truckers , coaches .
Taught me to be a man , to act in public , to be kind , giving , humble .
Love God, family, country , to act not watch in a emergency
These men taught all of us and I'm grateful to have had them thru out my life .
They are greatly missed these days.

    Very, very heartwarming.
Yes, the deaths were documented here for those chosen to be memorialized in this fine work.
    Their military story was given.
But, the most touching were the
recountings by and about the spouses and other loved ones.
This piece of fine historical work
    was not done in vain.

My dad was a crew chief on B-24s in North Africa, Italy, Sicily. He was there for 4 years till he came home to train future mechanics. He saw many things that he wouldn't talk about. Luckily, he did talk about the things that didn't bother him. The comeradre of being in the service with these fine young men. It wasn't ALL bad, the GIs found fun wherever they could. He had some great stories from Italy. I'm 69 now and I will hold those stories forever.

Terrible, teenage boys so brave, not even getting of the beach, their lives snuffed out, their families not knowing about the invasion in real time, learning the fate of their young boys via a letter. Watching this 6.6.24, 0900 UK time, try putting myself in their boots, impossible having never served, think every combat soldier thinks to themselves 'how will I fair underfire', these brave young men got to experience that on this brutal morning, they sacrificed their lives not knowing the good future was bestowed upon us for this. War is brutal, sorrow follows and lasts a lifetime. Surely should have been the war to end all wars...

How does one find information about a family member's service in WW2, my great grandfather served many years and came home with a small number of war trophies. He never spoke about his time overseas and burried half his trophies in a field (he was a farmer back home). He died of old age with me too young to even remember his face, only have 2 or 3 photographs of him across his entire 90ish year life.
My upmost respect and sympathy for all those who served, especially those who sacrificed their lifes and their whole livelihood. Thank you gentlemen for making the world a better place, what we can provide for you will never be enough.

My great grandfather father Leo Beaulieu landed on d-day. He was in the US Army. He survived the war but would never talk about it. When I was 12 I tried to talk to him about it and wanted to write about it but he wouldn't tell me much, just told me he survived the war, how terrible it was, how it ruined sleep for him for the rest of his life. How he spent 6 days stuck in a hole with all his friends dead around him and he had to poop and pee in that hole and if he were to try and get up he would have been killed. That was all he would tell me and he repeated how bad the war was it really got to him. He was a great man and thanks to God he survived or I wouldn't be here today!

My father was 3rd waive Omaha beach. 2 weeks in flame thrower got him but he survived, allowed to be a ginny pig on experimental plastic surgery to try to save his legs. It was successful. We had no idea where he fought and all we new was he shot Germans. A couple beers with my Uncles reunion ship, the flood gates opened. Wow powerful
From British armed forces UK deployment 🇬🇧
I walked the omaha beach in 2001 and saw some relics
But never really understood the true horrors of a generation wiped out in the first landing craft to hit all the beaches
I will return to Normandy to pay my respects to all allied for forces
    As with Dunkirk 1940
Plus the American soldiers that died in exercise tiger in Devon in south England that no one talks about a run up to Dday training
A must read book written by ken Livingstone who honours the fallen on this day I believe in slapton sands under live fire exercise
This was hushed up with mass graves of American soldiers
And once the war was over all bodies was exhumed and returned back to the United States by the government
You guys have not been forgotten either
God bless your all and I salute you all for your sacrifices made for we live for our freedom today because of all you guys British forces UK deployment 🇬🇧

There's a great book written by Sgt Ray Lambert titled "Every Man A Hero" about his experience at Omaha Beach On June 6th. He was an Army Medic who participated in the landings in North Africa, Sicily, and Normandy where he was severely wounded along with his brother. He was responsible for saving the lives of numerous GI's that day all while he was wounded. There is a chunk of concrete from a German Bunker that he hid behind while treating those GI's. It's still there and was memorialized as "Ray's Rock" Awesome man and an awesome story. He passed away at age 100. I got my copy of his book through Amazon Books.

Very well done documentary, I've always loved seeing them since I was young and this one so far has to be one of the most accurately recreated versions of d-day, the uniforms and acting are well done for the (I assume) small budget compared to other big networks like History Channel.
I liked the detail to it, from the beach being mostly empty with the wooden poles as cover, the helmet scrim, which many forget was heavily used during the initial landings, etc. Nice job.

For all allied soldiers and resistance members brought a great sacrifice and all have their stories and left loved once behind, and for those who didn't make it, it was the biggest, and it's important that we all remember them and we never can make it up to them anymore.

My father spent all of 1944 in Europe with 103rd Infantry 383rd Field Artillery on a towed 105mm howitzer. He refered to all people with blond hair as krauts.
Dad rarely mentioned his time in war. No details at all.

I HAVE WATCHED 100s OF FILMS ABOUT D-DAY. THIS IS THE BEST OR AT LEAST IN THE TOP TEN. THE SACRAFICE THAT THESE MEN MADE WAS HURENDOUS OR MORE ACURATLY UNDESCRIBABLE, BEYOND WORDS DESCRIPTION. I AM VERY EMORIONAL AS I WATCH.
Lord, make room for these men in your kingdom! "Greater love has no man than these. To lay down their lives for one's friends" John 15:13

Have seen u guy's work B4 on WWII - but abjectly had to comment on the POIGNANCY of this particular documentary on what regular people went through from the Omaha Beach slaughter 80 years ago. Like how all those 5 Sullivan brothers died in 1942, something like 27 Bedford VA men died on Omaha - INSANE! Makes us all know today we ain't going through nothing like what they endured in WWII. The Oscar nomination is coming dudes!

Normandy, June 6 in 1984, with President Regan delivering this speech with a USAF F-111F fly-by to soon follow. The FRENCH air traffic controllers denied the fighters from RAF Lakenheath, UK access into French airspace (reasons unknown). The major leading the flight said “fck that” and risked his career to make the fly over on time, expecting French fighters to intercept them. They didn’t.

It'd be nice if Americans honoured the majority of the D day landers.
Amerivans didn't even make up half of the soldiers who landed, yet rarely do they honour Britain's or Canadians contributions.
British troops even landed on one of the American beaches, but youd never hear of it...

Great video. Thanks to all the men who served for our freedom, and may God bless you all. I'm 4o and seeing this filmed when I was born, my how time does fly by. Take everyday for granite, because with Joe Biden in office, he's going to take all that these men fought and died for, and run it in the ground.
We need to come together and take a stand to get Joe Biden out of office before it's too late. I know I'll get bashed for this more than likely but when election time comes and Biden has a hot war started for is, and my word, ypu will see the draft back because our military is at its weakest point right now. Training was hard when I was coming a long but it made ypu who you became. Separated the weak from the strong. Just like Vietnam war but worse. Joe has sold us out and people don't want to believe it. We have been sold out to China, and Biden is trying to make deals with Ukraine and Russia that's getting them nowhere in the war. I hate it for some families that are going to see very hard times.... Turn to God, because he's all we have left... much love love to the U.S.A

Russia lost about 20-30x more people than America did during WWII. Almost 9 million soldiers and about 17 million civilians. I’m not
Russian BTW. I don’t state thIs to diminish the tremendous loss of young American men, but just to illustrate an almost unbelievable fact…that other nations lost a LOT more people than America did.

If we had a Republican candidate like Regan running right now I'd vote Republican. What Republican's fail to understand about Trump is that he does what he does for his own glory and place in history not to see the country he lives in become great as he so claims. He will just as easily throw someone under the bus as forgive someone if he thinks it will help his campaign.

Too bad the speaker is the terrible B-movie actor, Ron Reagan who is also famous for popularizing urination economics, or “trickle down” with Republikans. In his really lost moment at Normandy, the sad dude referenced military action as if he had participated. He hadn’t; he stayed home.
