I'm 75, have been a carpenter all my life, and can build anything I want. It's not a financial success, but I have 8 children and 23 grandkids. I love watching my grandkids grow and see God's loving hand in his creation. I'm always willing to work, but things are slow now. I trust God to supply my needs.

Conservatives need to stop referring to our country as a democracy, we are not a democracy. We are a constitutional republic there are big important differences. And if we keep thinking of America as a democracy one day it will be and democracies usually lead to tyranny and oppression. Why because in democracy the people elect leaders who then have total control to make laws in a constitutional republic people elect leaders who who then have to abide by a constitution a set of guidelines.

20 years in the military as a Hull Technician (HT). I picked one of the toughest rates. But I did it. It was not easy, but you never give up. Push every day. When all said and done, I could weld, fabricate sheet metal, carpentry, plumbing, brazing, security, shooting, operating machinery, fire fighting, building, or fixing just about anything that broke or needed made. It takes time. It takes dedication. It takes perseverance. You will not know everything. My value to the team was needed every day. It might not have been the best rate, but I got good and became super valuable to my team.

Almost nobody keeps Gods commandments and it’s a lie to say Jesus Christ did away with them. Keeping the true Sabbath, Saturday, will prove if u truly put God first. Until you’re at least trying to keep all 10 of Gods commandments you’re just lying to yourself. Don’t shoot.

@ when you keep Gods seventh day Sabbath, you very quickly will learn we are not of this world. I grew up knowing I do not fit in or belong in this world. I used to hate being so different, not being able to play baseball in the big tournament always on Saturdays. Now I celebrate being different. Learning to not comply with Satans government mandates has proven to be a very valuable asset. But I also realize and prepare for the day when non compliance will get me killed. Those days are coming and arguably already here now. God give us the courage we will all need to put God first.

    Good morning Jack,
    Sublime advise.
As a woman in technology, I get some not so cool comments. I'm used to it, growing up, most of the time being the only girl in a room full of boys. I've loved technology since I was in the 5th grade and yes, it's still a boys/man's world. Approx 99% of the time, I still find myself to be the only woman in the meeting. I recently traveled to 4 countries and approx 98% of the time, I was the only woman in those meeting rooms.
However, like you said, I fine-tuned my craft. Companies/businesses/governments seek my expertise because I relentlessly studied it and I relentlessly keep up with the changes.
This channel has not only been inspirational to me in self-defense & survival but also in life advise.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, your heart, your thoughts. May God continuously bless you & your family and my He continuously keep y'all safe.

You must be in a very niche field in IT... I have worked in IT for years, and I have seen more and more women in the field, even outnumbering the men specifically in government agencies. Even on my current team, it is kept at an exact 50/50 split because of forced DEI policies, which has actually lead to multiple issues. Not diminishing your personal experiences, but you are absolutely having a different experience than most in this field.

I used to sponsor Girls Can Code events and hosted 1 event once. Then I started sponsoring Kids Can Code so more boys can get into it.
Then my mentor suggested I open a 501c3 and start giving away college tuition. I have two non profits organizations since. One that grants college tuition for kids in technology and one for kids seeking trade such as mechanics, HVAC, etc
But I wish more women get into tech. Like today, I was meeting with an enterprise company. There were 11 of us in the room and I was the only woman.
I have faith there'll be more that will take interest.

Let me help. A job is only a single job experience. Many different jobs of the same thing. Has many different types of experiences because it is the same job but they do it all differently. To solve a problem. Don't go into a straight line. Go at it a 360 degree angle. Meaning. Instead of handling a problem one way. You handle it endless ways. It takes a hard task and makes it simple. Meaning. Stay at one job for around 2 years. Then. Move to another. Example. Construction. Learn all fields. Why. That leads to a foreman job. An easy way to do. If someone wants you to do their job and it has nothing to do with yours. They are lazy. Do it. Learn it. Adds to your own personal job experience. Example. I did cook in restaurants for 9 years. Because everyone was lazy and didn't want to do their job. I got to learn it all. Meaning. I can open my own restaurant and run it perfectly. Another example. Many hated my work ethics. They would run me off the job because they wanted the foreman or manager job. I didn't. They didn't ask. Yet. I would get a different type of job. Added to my job experience. Now. I can build a whole house by myself with a broken back. I learned tools, etc. To do it. Pay bits. Because your doing others jobs. But. The bounce is. The experience. I was in the Army. 88M. Truck driver. I had 6 different driving licenses. Also. During the PG war. I did an extra. Field sanitation. Water and sewer. Extra job experience. No one wanted to get a truck checked and ready for any amo runs. I took them all. Extra work. I fixed what I could fix myself. The mechanics let me use their tools. More job extra experience. A lazy man will open the doors to fill your plate on extra job experience. You just have to work past the part you are getting ripped off in pay. It pays in the end. It even makes you better at a single job or profession. Way more independent. More valuable.

Not the first time I have heard of "mastering your craft". I heard this very early in my logistics carrier and took it to heart! Listen, Study, Learn. I have already been offered very high-level jobs. I have turned some down due to not matching with my family plan but being an important "easy to work with" asset to an organization, those offers will stand even if you turn them down for a year or two due to certain family obligations. Becoming the SME 'Subject Matter Expert' of your craft if paramount. As you described, you get some 'privileges' that come along from your supervisors. A little extra freedom compared to your peers. DON'T ABUSE THAT EXTRA LEASH! USE IT TO WORK YOUR CRAFT!

I absolutely love this video. Spot on. A few years ago I was really struggling mentally going through a divorce and when I was at my lowest I always had coaching little league with my son. I am a very successful coach and I would always think the only place I have value is there but it kept me going. Having value and being an expert at something gives you the motivation to continue on. Thanks for this video Jack!

I found if you just show up everyday for work and only call out when actually sick and when you are there you work hard and follow directions and are willing to come in on a weekend if it’s necessary, you will be valuable to the company because they can depend on you, even if your not the best, because no one seems to be reliable anymore. So reliability/dependability is valuable

One thing that is necessary to becoming successful is, one must be willing to take risks! After being frustrated all our lives, my wife and I bet our retirement on a small Dump Truck business. Encouraged by our son who is an excellent welder and has been in the Trucking repair business for many years. Paid cash for 2 used trucks and have never looked back. The last 4 years have been Lean but we've been able to hang on. Now we're navigating the Federal Government in order to go to N. Carolina to assist with the cleanup and it looks like we'll make good money doing it. Conquer your fears and go for it!

Good insights here. This is something I challenge the men in my squad with: “What value do you bring to this group of men?” “How can each of us become a better asset to our team?” And the bottom line is to become more valuable in terms of skills, mindset and attitude.

So true! I am in my 50s and have spent my life taking jobs just to learn skills. I have mastered many of them. Learn as many positions as I can. I also found that you can also learn valuable skills though your off time with hobbies and things like home projects and fixing vehicles. I have never paid someone to fix or build my household. I very rarely pay to have mechanical work done. I have opportunities to even give lectures at historical societies and libraries on many subjects. Many job opportunities because people want to pay me to use my skills for their business. If we ever have a long term SHIF, I have skills to survive and skills to barder with.

I agree with all the stuff said here, especially growing skills.
There are 2 parts of being invaluable that people don’t talk about.
Know your place. Being the best at the job does not mean you’re the best leader. I’m a fire and forget guy, I’m the background support for the upfront leader.
As a follower who has been a leader I know for sure that the following statement is true: Any leader, when faced with the choice of a brave man or an obedient man, he should always choose the obedient man; and obedient man will be brave on command. Leaders don’t need wildcards.

This was a great video! I like how you broke down the two points and I like the examples that you gave that reach a broad variety of audiences. I would love to hear your take on a measurable process for becoming a master and therefore adding value and the other measurable aspects of selecting and developing the skill building itself. Topics like how you take a skill and break it down into its component Parts And how you work methodically through the process of learning and adjusting, etc..
