Eh as someone who lived in an island for 5 years (azores terceira, my father's birthplace), and unknowingly swam in an area where a great white was found the same day( they rarely attack even when next to a human), oceans are over rated. Lakes are much much nicer to swim at, they're prettier, and have better temperature.

@@KH4I.unfortunately some shark species have been known to actively hunt and eat humans, although the great white is not one of them. A tiger shark in Egypt ate a man this year (it was caught on video), and they’ve been having issues with sharks attacking tourists in that area of the Red Sea.
Another species that will go for human meat is the oceanic white tip. My grandfather was in the navy back in wwii and one ship went down (the uss indianapolis) and sharks absolutely feasted on the survivors from the capsized ship for days.
If you watch jaws backwards, it is about a nice shark giving limbs back to disabled people

Surprisingly the effects in this film are 10x better than the crap shark movies of today! The choice to keep the shark under the water was way more effective
Its a animatronic shark named bruce my dad saw him on set when he met the producers during a mechanical inspection of bruce
Fun fact: Several decades after the film's release, Lee Fierro, who played Mrs. Kintner, walked into a seafood restaurant and noticed that the menu had an "Alex Kintner Sandwich." She commented that she had played his mother so many years ago; the owner of the restaurant ran out to meet her, and he was none other than Jeffrey Voorhees, who had played her son. They had not seen each other since the original movie shoot.

@@ratvioli4027 Well clearly he realized during the biting that the pay dispute between Bruce and the studio had not gone well and so he decided that the best thing for the production's survival would be for him to put his shoes on and run away. But that didn't work out either because Bruce blamed everyone. I mean, can't you see that?

Steven Spielberg cut the initial pond scene which in my opinion was a huge mistake! His reasoning didn’t make sense considering the final scene with Quinn
I think exactly the opposite. Quint dies just as horrible as he described it happened to his friends in the Indianapolis. If something like that happened earlier in the movie, Quint’s story would not have been as impactful. We would already know how “evil” the sharks could be.
It’s only after the Quint dialogue that we know the horror of what could happen.
Of course, it happens with the life guard. But for a very short time.
And considering the original version didn't even use Bruce. Just the fin contraption.
The later pick up shots with Bruce taking the guy and chomping him were far more graphic than the fin contraption taking him out to sea.

The thing I don’t understand is why everybody in numerous documentaries say that the shark is first shown when chief Brody is chumming fish. It’s pretty clear to me that it’s the scene where the shark attacks the guy in the pond.

Exactly,there had been two shark attacks , and they let Bruce sneak by and kill another person for Bruce’s lunch. Not to mention the other chaos. If I were their parents, I would have grounded them for 5 days,and spanked them, because it’s dangerous, Bruce had killed both chrissie and Alex,I wouldn’t want more people to be Bruce’s snack.

I love the first and the second movies. Then comes jaws 3D and Jaws 4 and they're just a big piece of crap. The only thing i don't like in the first and second movie is the reputation it gives to sharks. Amazing movie tho and it's totally sick to see basicly a simulation on what sharks could do to you if they REALLY wanted to.
I kinda like the third one. I liked the first and third one better than the second and fourth one. I hated how the mayor and council treated Brody in the second one; they didn't learn from last time and cared more about making a buck than other people's lives. It took the local girl Tina seeing Eddie her boyfriend being attacked and eaten by the shark to take it seriously but to me after the movie the parents of those kids who got killed by the shark were out for blood and got on the mayor and council's cases. They gave Brody back his job but they all lost their positions and people's trusts and forever disgraced also no one wants to do business with them anymore or have anything to do with them because they ignored the signs and let others die. The next time when someone sees proof of a shark, they have to take their word for it and look into just in case.

Sharks aready had the rep. They had been villains in movies, books, paintings, cartoons and songs well before Jaws.
Thats why the mayor wanted it covered up. Because the fear of sharks was already there :

3 and 4 are awful 'films'. Jaws 2 is a good film in its own right. Nice performances from Scheider and Gary, a great score by John Williams and some good directing with genuine scares. It was pretty well received and successful at the box office.
If it didn't have to follow Jaws it'd be more highly regarded. It's the second best shark movie ever.
"Pier Incident" is easily the scariest shark scene in the Jaws franchise.
Oh god. Spielberg is a friggin genius. This movie is brilliant. 10/10

Years ago when I first watched Jaws, my dad tried to convince me that you never see him for the whole movie. That scene on the beach when the guy gets bit off the boat, I was so convinced that Bruce’s movements were lively and gross. Re-watching it again, it was really kind of mediocre, but I could see why in my young mind I got into it and made it really creepy!

It's supposed to be the sound of the water rushing that makes you think it's roaring. It's in a few scenes, but a different sound each time.
