Once again.. Super interesting vid...Thanks..
Congratulations 🍾🎊
I love those guys and have one of their albums already. Great music!!! Even better with a Rosa Mandolin.
Enjoyed the shop talk
Hello Jerry! I once was out camping by a remote lake. I went down to the lake shore to go wash my hands in the lake... As I was washing my hands, I was curiously observing, for no apparent reason, some little leaves floating in the water over the sandy beach. As I was doing this I spotted a particular "leaf" that was shaped like a small fish. So I decided to pick it up out of curiosity. Turns out it wasn't a leaf at all...It was a small button, either made of stone or hard brown plastic, with two holes for string. I still have it in my tackle box for luck. Your story of the artefacts made me think of this. Thanks for sharing!
Love the shop talks.
Great shop talk Jerry, really liked that song . Maybe your wife should pick you a lottery ticket she sure has some luck 🙂
NICE mushrooms! Never hunted morrells myself!
While knife cutting the morel at the root is a tale, it does reduce collected sand in the mushroom, as does carrying in a net bag.
Now that's the right reason to cut them off and that's why I cut them off
Damn Jerry, I love the way you sing these great old songs. You need to d more solos on your group sessions. I'm serious I love your deep baritone ( think Jimmy Rogers) keep it up ole pard.
I've been following along with your 12 string and it's coming along great! I totally appreciate how long videos take, I have a guitar I finished a couple of weeks ago but the video is doing my head in!
I have several Hank Williams songs in my bag of tricks, and will be adding this one. I have heard the group you speak of, and they are fabulous, but I didn't pick up on the Rosa mandolin. I think it's about time for another jam session.
Love that California Gold!!!!!!
Awesome shop talk :)
Mushroom heaven man
If she could find WATER like she finds tomahawk heads...
I find the hammers rather often...in various sizes.
My goodness, rosa mandolin on love will keep us alive . Love it!!!
The subtitle about you wife on the 4-wheeler cracked me up! Thanks, Jerry.
Very MUCH!! enjoyed your shop talk.Best wishes to all out there from all of us here. Doc BC
Wow! Ya don't hear too many people out there a coverin' Roy Orbison! These guys do a pretty fine job of it! Not as fine as that Rosa mandolin though! Speaking of mushrooms? I know a guy that, Too THIS Day HATES mushrooms! ANY mushrooms! Cuz, as a kid, his dad and other "hunters" spotted 'em? He was the "step n fetcher! He's in his 50's now!
I have over 160 songs I play regularly, of various generes, the common thread being old. At 80 years of age I still get wound up on Buddy Holly songs !!!
Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent still my favorites !
16:36 - What's this 'Free World' you mention, Jerry. Ain't no such thing as a 'Free Lunch', let alone a 'Free World'. Hmmmm.......sounds like a basis for a good song !
Wow! what a stage for a Rosa Mandolin. Well done Jerry.
It’s one of my favourite songs ever. Marty Stuart made that song pretty famous and he’s a huge fan and proponent of real country music and the people who made it like Hank Sr. and Mr. Bill Monroe. Great job Jerry! “I’m Blue I’m Lonesome.”
Hi Gerry,
After listening to you say that the biggest ever pair of singer/songwriters had written this fantastic song you've just played for us I really thought you were going to play and sing a song by Lennon-McCartney (LOL)!. Nice song though. Thanks, Gerry. I keep following your videos but it gets harder and harder to write comments as my brain and hands are not well synchronized anymore. Here I am just to let you know that I'm still following your videos since roughly number 20 or so. Not quitting is my motto. Best regards.
What's the difference between "Country" and "Blue Grass"?
Good episode. Thank you.
Thanks for those music links....they are so good what a blend!.. you were absolutely not kidding about that...
Congratulations on the famous mandolin and the mushrooms. I suspect it doesn't matter what you make videos about. I'm going to watch them. Great job on the Williams/Monroe song. This was a great episode, Jerry. Happy Sunday to you.
The mandolin sounded beautiful.
Fortune/Walker/Rogers/Isaacs Wow! I didn't think they made music with that much heart and of that quality anymore. Just bought the album.
I’m gonna get me a Rosa mandolin one of these days! The Rosameister is the best!!!
They are vary good
Congratulations !! Awesome .
Great shop talk Jerry, and i loved the song! I still can't find Morel mushrooms, and my wife can find them without trying. You found a TON!!
"I don't want to!, I don't want to!" I love it!
loved the story about your wife was funny, the whole video was great God Bless
Good shop talk today. Love the story about finding the hematite artifacts. The Bluegrass Internet radio station I listen to often plays I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome. I never knew it was by Hank, Sr. and Bill. The version I know is sung by Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski.
Great group! I recognize them mostly from Bill Gaither videos..... Rosa mandolin really shines!
California is absolutely stunning guitar!
Jerry my tax guy said the tax deadline in now 5/17.
Great shop talk. Some of the youtubers I have watch will record hours of content, only to whittle it done to maybe an hour youtube. So I know the work that is involved in creating content. Surprised the wife hasn't gotten the artifact bug. As a land surveyor here in Florida, I have found a slew of artifacts. Some in some bizarre places, like the limerock being laid for a new road. Just have to keep you eyes open. Thanks again Jerry.
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." (John Lennon in his song, "Beautiful Boy.") It seems to me that while waiting, one could seek information from other sources and compare techniques. At least it shows that people are eager to watch these videos. Anticipation can make the waiting seem endless, but it increases the pleasure when the next video is released, IMO. I await the next videos, patiently.
LOL - you don't need a metal detector when you've got a wife like that :-)
That's Jimmy Fortune, who replaced Lew in the Statler Bros. He sang the lead in the song "Elizabeth", a giant hit for them.
You might be interested to know that Jimmy also wrote Elizabeth. He also wrote More Than A Name On The Wall, along with John Rimel.
Don’t you ever worry about getting videos out. You have a lot on your plate and you’re all out of forks!
That was very interesting. I hope you enjoyed the mushrooms
Maybe better to get someone in to fix the cabin and earn more in the shop?
Love this episode
Jerry you outdid yourself. Playing those old timey songs make it worth while. I didn’t know about Hank and Bill Monroe collaborating. Did you know Marty Stuart does a great rendition of that time? Check it out. Good Bless you and yours!
I believe what you have there is a hammer stone and some full-groove axes that would have had handles lashed to them. Check out this page for reference archaeology.uiowa.edu/ground-stone-artifacts-0
The ones that had handles only the had grooves on 3 sides this is pre that time this is at least 8000 years ago. Plus if you could feel the weight this is far too bulky to put on a handle entire on it would break off for sure. I was a member of the archaeological society in Saint Louis for years
Whenever I’ve had a problem with Xacto blades slipping, I put a small piece of masking tape on the tang to make it a bit thicker. Could do the same with the surgical blades.
On the 12 String. I wasn't paying attention and saw a title from you saying a guitar build was finished! I thought it was the 12. I watched the video and I was very confused. The head and neck was different, and it was missing six strings! I watched half way before I realized it was an older video and different guitar! Enjoy Spring
You sound like me. When I was a child, it would take me three "go throughs" to read a new comic book. The first time, I would look at the pictures and get the general idea. The second, I would look, more carefully, at the pictures and skim over the text. The third, I would actually read the text, fully. This would all take several days, to two weeks. With getting two or three, at a time, this would keep me entertained for a while. Of course, when I was a child (born '52), comic books were much longer and cheaper (inflation accounted for).
We get these gigantic mushrooms in the open yard here in Texas. They look like grocery store mushrooms, but are the size of portabello’s. They even grow in full sun and in the heat. I wish they were edible, but apparently not. For some reason, they seemed to grow in abundance wherever my Corgi decided to go potty the most. Maybe she was the source? I don’t know, but she didn’t carry around mesh bags or any other of those things, and I yanked them right out of the ground and they always came back. Yeah, I know they’re not Morrell’s, but that’s my fungi story.
Maybe, you already know this but it just popped to mind.
Be careful yanking mushrooms you can not identify.
They could be poisonous. Wear gloves.
And nex time Jerry will show you how to make mandoline using ancient hematite tools only :D
I have a rock that just fits my hand that I found on the riverbank that looks like it might have been used to work leather.
Hi Jerry, I must have missed the announcement, I am sorry to hear that Caleb is leaving as I thought he had settled in really well and enjoyed his videos. I wish him well in whatever he does.
It's in the previous shot talk or the one before
Leave some, and they'll be there next year
Been there done that bazillions of times
He, already said that was BS. (not in so many words)
Reno and Smiley had the absolute best version of that song!!
The story about the axe head is wonderful. Will we ever get to meet your wife? She's legendary!
BOGUS BOLONGNA! LOL
You seem so happy today and much preoccupied with your wife, good to see. Maybe we could see her in some video once, for instance with horses. Or refurbishing the retreat for that matter. I guess she prefers to keep her privacy, though. Came to think of it, I saw a lot of her - and of you two - in the videos from the Italy trip a few years back.
Not much coherence here, I am just sitting by myself - living by myself - talking to myself. And just let these lines from Oslo stand as they are.
Fantastic music by the way, the mandolin playing did not by any means take a center stage, but delivered its beautiful distinct accompaniment, adding to an impressive whole. Those guys could play. J...s!
Jerry, definitely, take you wife out, again, to find more artifacts.
But, remember, the trick, to finding anything, is to make sure
she is in a bad mood and does Not want to go. 😁🤣🤣🙄😏
Your wife, the Tomahawk Wisperer. 😊
Two of the best singer song writers laurel and Hardy 😀
Doyle Lawson recently announced that he is retiring from touring but will be doing a couple of albums. Maybe the mandoline will "sing" on them. It doesn't get any better than Jimmy Fortune and his guys.
The problem with multitalented folks is that they never have enough time?
your plate's full, great find's,now the wife should have the metal detectere by her side, while out in the field, that should get more results,so to speak, encourige her to gather all.i'm sendin the love, your dealing with a chang again,2 octobers ago you reinvented your self, those times have changed,i'm sending the love to you all, time to do it again, reinvent yourself, with love chuck from pittsburgh,pa.those clamps are from pittsburgh, lol love ya brother, hang on for brighter day's
RUclipsvideh
The more you want to find it less chances you have.. its like ghost or ufos xD
How do you shoot a Morell?
With a camera.
I'm just making this comment to feed the RUclips algorithm. No real information.
First like!
Did I miss something? Is Caleb leaving too?
I'm sure I heard Jerry say that.
Second!
