LOVE it! I prefer your style, rather than tutorials that slooooowly explain every step... this is a much better way to learn at my own pace, (of course rewinding 1000's of times!) And the subtitles are just enough to clear up what can't be seen, the keyboard shortcuts, etc.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Appreciate that polite tone :) Yes, I used to do voice tutorials and, I didn't like them because I need much more practice with my English, so I introduced the subs. It is all really to keep the tutorial as short as possible. Again, thanks for your feedback Andrea. Cheers - Jay
This is one of the top 10 best logo tutorials on youtube and believe me i searched days for tutorials on youtube so SUPER BIG THUMBS UP 4 you and the way you explain it (like don't be scared as beginner and what to think about like mountains) shows that you really are not only a intelligent but also a very kind person!!! Please more 3D (illustrator only) tutorials your channel is totaly underrated so keep your head up and keep doin it its only a numbers game until you get big success. Keep in mind that even if you only helped one person to become better you changed the world!
Hmm, subscriber number 666, that has to mean something... HAHA, just kidding here! I am glad you like it Carlos, that is probably the best and most positive feedback I've ever received about my tutorials, thank you for that. I am planing on doing more tutorials, but still in a dilemma what logo to do, any ideas? Tell me what you guys would like me to show you, make it easier for me. Thanks! ;) - Jay
Hey Jay, great art work!!! But for a beginners, it will be a nightmare which I am one of them. I have managed to create exactly as per your tut. But it only took 4 hours as I stop and pause million times. You have put such a good illustration for others to follow, at the same time, you move quickly so that they miss what you have done. Its like give a candy and take it back! Only way one could follow is to see the Layer pallet and color percentages carefully and you will see what Jay has done. If you are going to share with others and you spend the time, make it worth for others to follow. But still I admire your work.
Kenneth, thanks for your comment. You know, not everyone who watches this video has adobe Illustrator open and is redrawing the thing, there are a LOT of people who have some illustrator knowledge and just superficially watch the video... if you know what I mean. Also the main goal is that you start working with illustrator, maybe get stuck somewhere and ask questions here, because like that you will boost your learning curve :D Cheers
OMG the thing with the color points is super helpful...up until now I had to work with lots of gradients and transperacy to achieve the same result thanks for that ^^
Hi, sorry for the late reply, been busy. When I work I like to keep everything clean and visible, and when you select something to make is look simple. To do that you can remove the selection box when selecting objects. Press (Ctrl + H) to enable or disable the bounding boxes around object. And about the anchors, when the bounding box is enabled, when you select a point with the direct selection tool (A) those handles will appear automatically, try it. Cheers!
***** tinypic.com/r/2gy3j39/8 Tried that, everything seems to be as you have it but it's just completely whited out. So frustrating as was really enjoying this tutorial and really wanna keep going with it! :)
Paul Weller I was about to ask for you to upload the source document somewhere to take a look. When working with these types of logos, you always want RGB checked, the software has much more colors to play with. Cheers and hope you've learned something.
Ok everything goes perfect so far but im stuck on making the inner part with effect color dodge it colors it with plain light blue and I cant change it. Please help. Thank you!
By incorporating these colours with this logo OR any other idea do you have? Also how do I reword you to helping me to make my logo? Thank you very much, Shan.
Only had trouble with the Color Dodge so I used soft light instead an came out pretty good. I would have like some narration, other than that nice job :)
Absolutely brilliant tutorial, Jay! Thanks! However, there is a "but" here... But for a newbe, it would be fantastic to hear your voice describing what you do, and a bit slower. Personally I would mind if the video was 2x or even 3x its current length. Great artwork and great tutorial, and I'll be sure to subscribe! Thanks!
Well, in that case, make sure you visit my channel for more stuff, bc in the meanwhile I've made tutorials which are narrated. Not perfect English, but it's something :D Cheers
Hello, Jay started copying your logo, but I'm stopped at 1.35 -2.09, what are the commands to delete the lines? My CC Illustrator is 2015 I await reply, thank you.
Hi, I really like your tutorials, but I have CS4, do you know if there is the "shape builder tool" in it? Or how can I do the same think with another tool? thanks a million!!
***** Thank you very much!! it works! because I tried with the "live paint bucket" tool, and it also works, but it's a bit strange, I can't do everything you do in your tutorial with that tool... Thank you! hope the rest will be okay without any other question :P
I am looking into obtaining a degree in Digital Media Arts. Can you tell me how long you have been working with Illustrator? You're awesome btw! I have dabbled with all Adobe products but I want to master these. If you have a favorite teacher or tutorial you used, I would appreciate if you care to share. :)
Thank you :) The music is from youtube's music library, really can't remember the name of it, sorry. Subscribe to my channel for more videos like this!
Not been using Illustrator long but never knew that mask could be added to layers. I got lost more then a few times. Any chance you'd consider using vocals instead of text? Difficult to keep up when I'm trying to look down at the instructions and up at the result at the same time. Excellent work. SUB!
Thanks, glad you like the tutorial. Yes, have been doing voice tut's before, but I've lost that practice recently. That is mostly because it requires a lot more preparation since English isn't my everyday language :/ Will definitely make one tut narrated to see how it'll go :) Cheers!
oooh...when i hear the music I feel like being in a wooden house with a computer in front of me the sunlight passing through the window and a cup of coffee next to me. great place to make great design oooh i love that music what music btw

Hi Imosh, make sure first that you use a newer version of Illustrator - perhaps CS4 or above. Then you will have the 'Shape builder' tool available. What it does is basically allows you to trim paths that you selected making them into separate shapes. Good luck. Jay
