Hi Brian! Thanks for tagging me. It's definitely important for timely management to know the status of each and every hive throughout the year :) Q- at 03:22 are you intentionally shifting your top boxes back for additional venting? Or, are they just a tad off? Thanks for sharing, everything seems to be going well for you :)
Fred, yes. I'm leaving that opening for ventilation and giving them an upper entrance at the same time. I have been told this can produce a 10% greater yield, we'll see.
It's been the year of Queen problems for me too Brian, completely replaced all my Queens with 2024 Queens and I lost about 50% of my production hives due to old queens. Now I'm on a 2-year queen replacement cycle.
That sucks Charlie. I'm in the same boat, only have 4 or 5 colonies that will probably make any honey for me. Can't wait for this season to get over and see what 2025 brings.
I just bought a big load of new bee equipment., I'm in NE OHIO, wondering if u want to buy any , (complete hives) it's 2 deeps, a medium, screen bottom w insert, inner cover, telescoping cover, frames & foundation for all 3 boxes, a hive tool & smoker, plastic front feeder, & plastic excluder.. ALL of what i mentioned unassembled for $110... looks equivalent to like a bee castle or vevor .. I have about 40 to 50 of them to part with lol
Note that an emergence cell and a queen made with a worker egg are inferior queens that need to be replaced every year for peak production. A queen lays a superior egg in a swarm cell to replace her and the egg is larger than a worker egg A superior queen has been know to live for 9 years but that is rare now! Soon we will all bee force into that job security situation! Best of luck!
I get my Queens from nature's Image Farm. I had an order of 10 placed last year that rolled over to this season. This was part of that order. I might start grafting a few, not 100% sure yet on that though.
I direct released a queen today. Did not turn out well. As soon as I put her on the frame she flew off!!! I closed up the hive and will check back in a couple of days. I really hope she found her way home. Nice job on the video Brian
I ended up introducting my new queens the same way this year. My setting up of the singles got started late, so the new queens sat inside for a good 5 days, more then I wanted but every one got accepted. I think a slower introduction is worth the added acceptance rate in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your experience and time with us Brian. Blessed Days, buddy...
Thanks so much DC. I had so much fun putting this together. I thought I had to share this as a story. We'll see how they perform now. Appreciate you watching, as always. . Hope you have a blessed week as well my friend.
Great video Brian!!
Thank you.

You are a clear speaker. Just words. Not a lot of uh, uh, uh…excellent video Brian!!!
Well, you should see it before editing. Appreciate that though.
Do you have link for them things on the front of the hives? The info things?
www.queenrightdial.com/
If you search Queen Right Dial, you find them if the link doesn't go through. It is in the description also.
Grafting this upcoming weekend for July splits. Hopefully things go well

Did you say "Milk Brood"? I like the term, does it mean open brood?
Yeppers.. if I see that little bit in the cell, that's what I say.

i did not know that, interesting. Appreciate you watching and the info.
Good Stuff Brian, where do you go for new queens, does your supplier keep a good stock of queens, or did you raise them yourself ?

Good job, hope they grow and save enough honey to start next season off on a strong footing.
I'm crossing my fingers. We'll see.
Grafting 22nd and making 35ish splits. Pulling honey soon. It's getting hot and dry.
Dang, 35 splits. That is some work. I'll probably pull in the next 2 weeks i'd imagine.
Plan to sell next year. See how many make it through winter.
Nicely done and great information, Brian. So interesting 👍🏻
